Switch will be great in vacation this summer

I can totally see it: Handheld on the beach. Tabletop before dinner. TV if it rains.

It makes too much sense imho. Summer season will release potential no other console or handheld has been able to plug into.

Edit: typo due to auto correct, *curse*

Good luck on the beach with the ridiculous screen glare the Switch suffers from in direct sunlight.

I can imagine the road trip for the OP.

His wife and kids are all in the car. Wife is driving.

Wife: Look honey! The rocky mountains!

OP: *looking down, fixated on his screen*

Wife: Isn't nature beautiful?

OP: *Still looking down, produces a gurgling sound*

Kids: Dad! Please say something! We miss you!

"Guess where I was playing my Switch!"

It's the perfect platform for thursday night throwdowns at the roller rink and back alley doo-wopping with the boys under a full moon.

I agree, but it does suck to use in direct sunlight. As with all of the other handhelds that echo your sentiment and have existed previous to this.

Going to the beach? Pff.

Switch is already dope? I work at a high school and played Mario Kart with a student the other day, then two of his friends showed up and we played four player. It already rules.

I played my Switch outside with a friend in weather like this the other day while her dog runs around in the dog park. It was super fun. Would recommend :D

I'll be honest the beach is a walking distance from my house, 1 mile to be exact, so going out to get some fresh air while playing video games wouldn't be too bad. However, everytime i do go to the beach i just want to swim or go surfing, so maybe not.

Lol don't want to start a new thread but I'm moving and driving cross country and the switch being so portable is great. Fits in my laptop bag, usually play for an hour or so after I'm done working. Would recommend 10/10

I would NEVER bring a hanheld console to the beach.

Sand + Water + Salt + Kids + Balls + Hot temperature = broken console

And you have to sit with it all day as the second you go for a paddle some fecker will help themselves to it.

The best part of a vacation is the whole getting away from usual life. Gaming is day to day life and should be treated as a nice hobby to take the edge off.

Why is the switch any different lol.

I understand what you're saying, but I'm not sure I'd enjoy playing videogames during a vacation where I'd get to do things not normally available to me. During travel? Sure. But playing videogames at the beach instead of enjoying the beach and partaking in beach activities is incredibly wasteful when I could play any time of year when I have free time.

I used to take with me the PSVITA on summer vacations, all digital is the way.

So with a good memory in it, Switch can be good too if they solved the "all content digitally chained to the physical console", just for possible theft matters I mean... I never took my 3DS with me out of home just for that.... :\ (I still don't own a switch)

Excited to take a vacation so I can finally play video games!!!
As an adult, this is sometimes how I feel. On my recent vacation, the two 4+ hour flights with the Switch were some of the purest, extended gaming sessions I've had in ages.

I don't see why vacation has to mean vacation from all hobbies. I sometimes go to the cinema while on vacation too, guess that's a big no-no as well since I enjoy watching movies in my day-to-day life.

Has Nintendo fixed the issue where TV source will randomly change to Switch's when it's in the doch in the last firmware update?

How is playing a handheld on the beach any different than reading a book? When you're relaxing on a beach, are you just staring blankly for hours on end? No, you're either taking a nap, reading a book, or perhaps playing a game.

My personal preference is to read a book and take a nap, but i see nothing wrong if someone wants to play a handheld game for an hour or so. Not much different than reading a book in my opinion.

you can't see shit on the screen when it's sunny bro

Display tech still has a long fucking way to go. Need that epaper clarity for regular displays, future generations will laugh at how shitty the tech was in the beginning. Unusable in many circumstances of natural sunlight.

I get that, but my post was in response to everyone saying "how could you possibly take video games with you on vacation". And my response is that it's really no different than reading a book. I'm not really talking about screen tech, etc.

I don't think the OP was saying to play the Switch all day on the beach and do nothing else. But again, nothing wrong with going for a swim, grab a drink, play Switch for an hour, go for another swim, etc.
