Early access device pretty much. The only reason they could launch is because of Zelda. When used as a portable, it would be nice to use it as a portable media device sometimes but nope, it comes with nothing.
Yeah its going to be great when I'm out of the house on work trips and not being able to log into the hotels wifi because I lack a browser.
Yeah... The evidence of Switch being fairly barebones at launch is definitely adding up. Doesn't matter much to me personally, but I can see why it would deter some potential buyers. Buying consoles on day one isn't always pretty, but this seems especially rough.
Could I have used the browser on my switch on the train, bus or commute to work?
I'm posting from an iPhone 6s Plus, I'm streaming TV to my smart TV - I have an iMac not 20ft away and 2 iPads and a MacBook Pro.
Most people have some combination of devices with browsers on at their disposal - why have another one?
What people are forgetting is Nintendo have not once declared the Switch to be anything other than a gaming device.
Not one single time.
The psp had a web browser in 2005.
Lets face it on March third Switch will be the Zelda machine and nothing more.
And the great thing is that i'm ok with that and i cannot wait
It's not a tablet.Every tablet ever put on the market has a browser. It is feature 1 of any portable device in this era.
There has never been a browser on a console or handheld that was better than digging out a phone or tablet instead. It'll probably come eventually, but I seriously don't care. I remember thinking it was cool that Vita has one but... Never use it.
How am i gonna see what people posted to my share/edit profile etc? There is no facebook app afaik and no browser. You don't need a user accessable web browser to share content to Facebook or Twitter (or to log into public networks for that matter).
Well, it is, it's just not marketed as one. Technically it's a powerful tablet with controller add ons and tv out. It's not a tablet.
It's not a tablet.
But the Switch is a tablet.
They... They have information about the UI and the Switch's features on the website.
Plopping down $350+ for a single game is something I will never understand.
It's not a tablet.
No its just they are being not compenent again.Do you think Nintendo didn't include the web browser as a way to counteract piracy?

I understand that having a web browser is useful to some people, but I personally would rather they put those developments resources into pure game experiences and making the UI as clean and efficient as possible.

The Switch is basically Shrodinger's game console. It's not a tablet, but it is. It's not a home console, but it's not a portable either. But it's also all of the above.
Really, the true meaning of the Switch is somewhere in our hearts, we get to decide what it is.
A big Nintendo wifi partner McDonald's does this too. That's a valid concern but I'm sure they have a solution in the works. This post made me go from "Eh, I have no use for a clunky console browser anyway" to "Oh god Nintendo what are you doing?! You NEED the browser!"
Hotels need to cut it out with the bullshit "go to the webpage to log on" thing. Missed the last Splatfest because of that garbage.

I understand not using a web browser on Switch although the Wii U one was really dope and I think that having to get another device out of the pocket to do this basic task is not very convenient, but let's say it's not that big in the end.
But if you can't connect to most public hotspots that require browser authentification because of this, it's a damn big inconvenient as portable.
Maybe we need to see the console for what it is, instead of trying to put it in an existing category and being (faux) outraged that it doesn't exactly fit that mold. Currently it's primarily for playing games, not for browsing. Don't buy one if that doesn't appeal to you and wait and see if they add it later I suppose? The Switch is basically Shrodinger's game console. It's not a tablet, but it is. I can count the number of times I've used the browser in my wiiu with one hand.
In my ps4 maybe two hands. Maybe.
Dont give a fuck about browsers on consoles to be honest, although I can understand some people may have used them. I just find them too buggy and umconfortable to navigate
For most it'll be a Zelda/Bomberman/Puyo/Setsuna/12S machine.

Couldn't they still have some barebones coded browser for stuff like WiFi logins while not actually having a full featured useable browser?
