Switch won't have Streetpass or Miiverse

I actually don't mind this and i did love both features originally, however street pass became old and chore and Miiverse whilst a novelty never gained mass appeal - it would be far better if the best bits of miiverse (drawing) could be just posted to social media, twitter for example with a fixed hashtag

Can't imagine 3DS Sound/Photos (dunno if U also had these?) sticking around either.

The question I'm wondering is uhhh are they adding any new features? Like X1/PS4 are missing some features the previous systems had, but they did bring new stuff like streaming/sharing and such. Nintendo hasn't mentioned those or even something like cloud saving so ??? This device gonna be barebones back to the days of Saturn/PS... oh wait, even barer since those could playback CDs O.o

Miiverse is such a loss. I don't even own a Nintendo system that could go on it but some of the screenshots showed it was a wonderfully unique and often hilarious community.

Bizarre move. I think Miiverse had real value. I hope they replace it with something better, but given the current trend of Nintendo head-scratchers I won't get my hopes up.

Why? Do share your insights.

Seems they want to start anew and ditch the Wii stuffs now. Wii, Wii U, Mii etc.

Also no streetpass because they want to position it as a home console first, portable second.

Miiverse was one of the best things WiiU introduced and people actually really liked it.

But building from that foundation would be too smart for Nintendo.
If this is all becuase of Dena, they are idiots by trusting them, thats for sure.

No! StreetPass was one of the things I liked most about the 3DS. I just got my 3DS a few months ago, and I think it's the most genius feature. It makes me (and many others) feel like taking their 3DS's to more places, and then potentially playing there.

It was also fun to see your friends come up in mini games. :(

It was what the Nearby feature on Vita wanted to be.

Getting rid of Miiverse also seems crazy. The Miis are becoming more and more used as Nintendo introduces mobile games, and a revamped rewards program, both that use your Mii as an avatar.

There are both Mii-centric services, so this is yet another disappointment.

Street pass was actually pretty cool, sucks that it has to go.

But good riddance of Miiverse. I don't what is worse, that or YouTube comments. I got spoiled on GOT S6 spoilers when playing on the Miiverse stage in Smash Bros. Terrible idea.

I got a Force Awakens spoiler on that stage too. Me and my friends had already seen it, and there were so many we couldn't stop laughing.

Boo, Nintendo, booooo!

WiiU has nothing. Wait, there's a neat browser. Not on Switch, as far as I know.

You will have to allow Nintendo to look at your private messages, then you can upload screenshots to social media.

And wtf is this ditching the Miis, after all they put into them? Even the NAcc has a Mii, ffs!

Streetpass was expected, after all the Switch is a home console. But Miiverse i always thought that would be there like on Wii U

I didn't like Miiverse but it it was the only thing that made the Wii U feel "alive". I hope the Switch doesn't completely lose that sense of community.

Part of me is disappointed in no Miiverse, but another part of me doesn't care. Miiverse has sooo many problems and after a while I just stopped caring. I feel sharing to social media people use is a better idea. Not only will Nintendo players see it, but none Nintendo players can see it. Hopefully they do allow for some sort of basic network so you can keep check of all your shared material and your friends.

Miiverse made Splatoon a much more interesting experience and even made the game feel alive. That's disappointing.

I actually have been using miiverse a little more recently, too bad IMO.

Streetpass is a lot of fun if you can get reliable passes. I take transit and pass anywhere from 1-5 people a day. I understand it doesn't work like that for everyone though.

End of an era. ;_;

I miss the early days when Miiverse first came to the 3DS. It was like an actual social network but then they cut out features and it became more isolated.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo had real people moderating miiverse. That could not have been cheap. Why bother when they can just tie it into Facebook or twitter going forward and let other people deal with any consequences.

I am seriously disappointed that Miiverse and StreetPass are finished. Two of my favourite features from the Wii U & 3DS era.

Since I take my handheld with me everywhere, I'm especially gutted about the lack of StreetPass. I really enjoyed the surprise of connecting with fellow gamers.

I actually ended up liking Miiverse. Was fun taking screenshots of cool shit in Xenoblade and posting about it.

Disappointing, but maybe they will have other social features that will be equally interesting and exciting. There's lots we still don't really know about the switch when you think about it.

Can honestly say I never used either. So this really doesn't effect me. I'd rather have a traditional friends list and share content with them that way.

No Streetpass is BS.

And it just reinforces the fact that this isn't a true successor to the 3DS, it's a console that you can take around with you.

I'm disappointed, I wanted them to combine console+handheld development into an all in one Nintendo system. >_<

So we're expecting a 4DS next year or something?

Ah shit, Miiverse had some many awesome moments.

The Wiliem Dafoe community, Life with Horses 3D, the Mario and Luigi Dream Team Bros fiasko, the bad miiverse post twitter, the miiverse stage in smash, Funky Barn, and of course, the greatest romance ever
lol how have I never seen the Life with Horses 3D stuff? So good! I'll miss Miiverse :( Streetpass was always meh to me because I never carried around the console with me to matter and, I Streetpass very few people when I do. If they made it an app instead, it would've been a lot more popular I'm sure. I also hated the implementation of game play. You had to play right there after you street passed people. Why couldn't I save some street passes up and then play in long bursts?

Maybe Nintendo will build something like this into its next iOS app instead, since smartphone apps will be used for online/lobbies anyway.

Huh? Streetpass had a queue. Depending on the game it could take an age to fill it up before you had to empty it.

I find the answer to this question tricky. They say Miiverse isn't returning, rather than the feature isn't returning. Perhaps we'll see something similar under a new name,

Would be nice to share achievements and screenshots with friends at least.

I guess we'll never know why Metroid can't crawl.

RIP. They're not essential, but I have a soft spot in my heart for these features. I see the logic, though, that they want you to post with Facebook/Twitter as an advertisement to others on your feed. Posts in Miiverse are only read by those who have already bought a Nintendo product.
