1) There's a link in the OP telling you who he is.

2) Typing "T.I." in Google pulls up his official website as the first search item, among other articles.

I know some of us are "too cool for school" and don't care about pop stars but there's no excuse for posts like these.

da fuck? I know perfectly well I can spend 10 seconds to find out who he is but why should I have to? How about you have some common curtesy?

As a matter of fact I am not clicking that link because I know that person is not important for me to find out who he is.

Being a fan or not of US pop culture really has nothing to do with it and even so wouldn't common sense be to Google the name? And if you don't recognize the name and you are in another country wouldn't common sense dictate well maybe he is celebrity in that country?

I agree that searching would be easy, I just answered the question "how could you not know who T.I is" by saying "not everyone is a fan of US pop culture.

I know who T.I is, but only cause I landed on his shitty show once. I live in Montreal and listen mainly to local hip-hop.

"da fuck" should be my line in response to this post. The OP posted a link TELLING you who T.I. is. Why should the participants of this thread ALSO have to tell you who T.I. is when you can just click the link?

Also, if you can spend 10 seconds to find out who T.I. is on Google, why not do that vs wasting time posting something along the lines of "Who the fuck is T.I." in a thread where you don't care about the discussion just to WAIT for another poster to tell you who T.I. is?

This makes sense.

And good show T.I. Now stop getting arrested for drugs & guns already. Enough street cred accumulated.

I heard TI was a good person from my best friend a few years backbut big ups to TI most celebs would have even care let alone normal ppl

What made the police chief think "Yeah, TI can save the day." I don't understand why he thought he could talk him down, why the chief okay the video, and why it actually worked on the guy. Did he ask for TI or something? Probably would've been better to ask for Jessica Alba nudes or something like that. It's a good thing and all, I just don't get it.

TI does not sound like a searchable term, unless you are looking for Titanium. It also sounds like an abbreviation the article is using to shorten a longer name. No need to be a dick.

Literally no-one outside the US knows who T.I. is.

His exposure here leads people to believe he is more popular than he is, same with a lot of rappers. Overall he hasn't sold very many albums and hip-hop isn't nearly as popular in Asia or Europe as it is here. Looking at the 50+ million list I have no idea who Hibari Misora is, but I'm sure in Japan they are a household name. Same with Pet Shop Boys, I have never heard that name but apparently they have sold 100 million records worldwide...

That was my reaction.

And I think a lot of people overestimate his fame. I never heard of him before, and I don't exactly lead a sheltered life.

Yeah?

Weird that I'm the UK and I know who he is, and who the Pet Shop Boys are. But that's because I know music from lots of different genres and I dont get off on acting all elitist in my musical choice

Or not dumb enough not to use Google. It's the first link in a google search for TI which goes to Wikipedia and the link has more info. Why do people post "who is TI" then say they don't care for blah blah blah when you can just read the thread and then gtfo

Everyone's big in Japan.

Aussie here, never heard of him, leave the house often, don't listen to commercial radio.

What are you talking about? He has been in the running for world's best selling hip-hop albums in 2006 and 2008

And every faucet of MTV Europe, Japan, Aus... What more do you want for exposure? The guy only has been making selling albums since 2001...

With the exception of Lady Gaga and Cold play no one on the 50 mil and up have been selling since 2000...

Awesome the only place he won an International award was Aus... Which was for Live Your Life

"Goodbye cruel world! I have no reason to continue on with this miserable life of mine....what was that, TI is here!? Nevermind, I'll take the stairs."

Its not like the argument is that its a lie or impossible you may have never heard of the guy (I only learned who Justin Bieber is a few months ago, partially thanks to GAF) but some of you need to stop acting so daft. Yes there some famous/almost famous celebrities many have not of heard of outside of the US and and vice-versa but stop acting as if those that know of him should downplay/minimize who he is because he is not famous in your country or that you may have never heard of him. Its like frequenting forum where the majority is British and someone makes thread on The Stig and some American post who, what is a stig? Nope, never heard of the Stig in the US.

I'm not a fan of the guy in anyway and cant say I have heard more than one song from him but I just find shit like that insulting especially from Europeans and the like that love to call out Americans for not knowing/caring enough about something outside of the US but when its the reverse we hear shit like "well the world doesn't revolve around America" or some other crap spewed to cover up ignorance.

I say this with nothing but respect and unrelenting honesty: Who cares?

Yeah...but that reverse ignorance though slight just sort of pisses me off even though I don't even listen to TI or much rap.

Okay lets try this again: Why do YOU care? A lot of things piss me off too but whether or not people have heard of someone/something that I wouldn't acknowledge if I didn't have to is weird.

I wonder if it's lost on you the similarites of our posts.

Wonder no longer, it's not. You don't care about TI, but you care about people pretending they don't care/haven't heard of TI or other marginally talented artists and famous people. Basically your issue is with ethnocentrism. But this thread is about TI, ya know that guy you and all those pretenders don't care about. Oh and "reverse ignorance" would be "well informed".

If this is true then Big props to TI.... But If I read Tiny(his wife)did something similar in the next few days I will know this a setup..:lol :lol :lol community service my ass...:lol :lol
