Take Two CEO confirms no PC version of GTA VI day one

know a bunch of people who bought a console for one game

think the xbox sold like it did because people wanted halo and dead or alive 3?
halo was enough.

I used to do it.

PS2 for Onimusha
PS4 + VR for Astrobot (pricey!)
Xbox for Splinter Cell
WiiU for Mario 3D World

Great games but the consoles ended up paperweights. Don't do it anymore.

That's the right attitude; ideally, we'd all own every platform, and these debates wouldn't exist.

In my case, the problem with not having a PC isn't the cost, but the amount of time I have available for this hobby.

When I was 16-18, I had a console and a PC, but I had tons of free time to dedicate to it.

Now my time is limited, and I have to prioritize it, which is why the PlayStation 5 is the ideal choice to fill that time.

Even the way I consume video games has changed. The moment I buy GTA VI, there won't be any other game waiting in the wings; there will only be that one to play to death, just like I'm doing now with Saros.
So much time you need to dedicate to PC gaming, Wow! It's not like if you just want to play "PS5 like" games you just double click shortcuts and play, and the most wasted time is to click "install" for video driver updates and that is it.

I will be buying and then immediately selling a PS5 pro once I've completed GTA 6. Sold my PS5 for a profit too.

It's annoying but I'm not waiting for the PC release. At least with R* you know the game will launch on console playable (ignoring any online features that will likely be a hot mess).

Just check the leak data of GTA online revenue breakdown, PC is 3%

Stop using that metric. First, it only covers the period from September 2025 to April 2026.

Secondly, GTAO has been on Plus and Game Pass for quite a few years.

On PC, there's much more competition from online games, so it's quite likely that GTO's peak on PC declined a long time ago.

I think you've misunderstood my reasoning.

I'm not referring to the computer being plug and play, which it isn't in many cases, and not just because of "installing a driver."

It's that I can't play so many games because of the limited time.

If I have limited time and I'm playing Saros/Wolverine, I couldn't be playing Counter-Strike or Battlefield 6, games I would normally play on PC.

We don't even know if Wolverine suck or not, so it's just about blind "brand loyalty". Ok.

Sony and Microsoft are farting out shit games?

You been asleep?
You stated there's nothing to play on the consoles when there are many great games to play.

Why are you limiting the games someone can play on the consoles to just exclusives? GTA isn't even one.

And most of those are on the PC too

This one won't be on day 1. Ergo, people can feel some justification for buying a console at last 🤷‍♂️

I honestly couldn't tell you why I bought a ps5 Pro. There's fuck all worth buying on it. Same as my Series X (y)

If it was that easy, MS wouldn't be struggling to integrate a console type interface to their operating system. Most of us have, or have had, PCs as our primary gaming machines in the past. Many of us go back 30 years plus in the hobby. You really don't need to spend any time trying to convince us that PC is where we want to be, because we have or have had one and have chosen alternately.

PCMR aint the answer for everyone.

Consoles don't have console type interface. They have PC like interfaces that you navigate with "keyboard arrows" + virtual keyboards like we can do on PC and some like the Wii and Switchs even with a "mouse". PS1 have even a cursor:

I am stating facts and not trying to convince anyone of anything.

No comments on the "PCMR" bullshit.

Take-Two supported the Nintendo Switch 2 console at launch with versions of Civilization VII and later NBA 2K, PGA 2K, and WWE 2K. However, Zelnick told Game File that the publisher's focus remains on the other two console platforms.

"We want to be wherever the consumer is, and we've supported Switch 2," he said. "You can tell from what we are doing and what we're not doing that our primary console platforms remain Sony and Microsoft."

"One of the things Microsoft sacrificed to chase these "aspirational" profitability metrics was Xbox hardware stock. Xbox Series X|S consoles are not sitting idle on store shelves. The demand is there. The stock isn't. Microsoft didn't purchase the units required to meet demand, quite clearly because the hardware itself doesn't translate directly into high margins. And now, in the year of Grand Theft Auto 6, Microsoft will have no Xbox Series X|S stock to sell. The memory has already been purchased by PlayStation and other firms that think annually rather than quarterly. And as the AI route continues to destroy memory inventory, there's absolutely nothing the new Xbox leadership can do about it."

Yup definitely just so much demand and just no consoles to buy.......absolute delusion land there.

Meanwhile in reality land clued in consumers bought a ps5 or pro pre price rise. The rest will get a ps5 closer to launch, probably a gta6 bundle if PS has the marketing (would make zero sense to give it to MS with sales split this gen).

So, should arrive approx. 5 months after the PS6 version.

No.

PS4 version had to be made because console had no BC, PS4 players didn't have access to the game. PS6 will play PS5 Pro version just fine. Notice that there is no PS5 version of RDR2.

They could have easily ported the PS3 version to PC but they would have missed out on all the improvements they put into the PS4 version.

PS3 > PS4 wasn't a straight port, nor will PS5 > PS6.

They also could have made quick and dirty port for PS4, they basically lost 1 year of PS4 sales this way (many people buying PS4 sold their PS3s and 360s). This is very similar to Gran Turismo 6 situation (also released in 2013) - but this game is still stuck in PS3 hell.

PS6 port will be based on PC version, or they won't bother with it right now and release it few years later. RDR2 was released 2 years before PS5 and we still have no info about native version, game just work under BC (with no upgrades).
