Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars official thread ~ Going across the border!

Basically you're saying that wireless packets won't be dropped at all with all sorts of interference that is present in most homes.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

What I'm saying is that I don't experience lag spikes anymore than I did using a wired connection playing my games. I've done with with DOAU, DOA4, VF5, MVC2, SFHD, SFIV, etc . . . on various systems when applicable.

Regarding the connection issue, is 100ft of ethernet cable the maximum length before you'll need a signal booster? Also, how can anyone say that it's better to play this online with a wireless router? It may be more convenient, but fighting games like this require more precision. That's probably why Brawl's random battles suck so much more than they should. It's because everyone is using the integrated wireless.

tried out the karas/roo team...

oh god yes. Roo's assist is the perfect combo extender :D

now just to learn him properly in case karas gets killed...

also had to tweak the controls a bit...changed R from LMH to MH, makes team supers easier to do. CC actually works great with this game, don't go out and buy a stick just for the sake of getting one. However, I would want to use a stick, but I can't afford one, and my CPSF has no more room for another PCB :(

Naw just popped in the JP version for a little pre-release practice.

Probably mentioned but for anyone buying this in the UK, it's £17.95 at Zavvi for today only. Bargain.

thought they died a death or was it just the highstreet shops??

damn pre ordered with amazon, the price is down to £22.47

sod it rather trust amazon than Zavvi... still a damn fine price for the game (zavvi) wonder if this will for amazon to lower the price?

Won't make a bit of difference.

802.11g has faster throughput than your Internet connection, so the speed bottleneck is there.

Wireless connections are inherently less reliable, though. Ethernet offers a much more reliable, steady stream of data.

Zavvi the physical store died last year, but it's online department was bought out by the company that run The Hut, Sendit, WH Smith and Asda's entertainment department. They've been around for a long time, and they're actually pretty good though can be a little slow at times. Quite a few of us on GAF use them (check out the CAG Euro thread).

Which of those were you the host? The ONLY games in that list I would even consider testing for wireless latency difference would be VF5, MvC2 and STHDR because those are the only three with netcode worth a damn. Flipping back and forth with the wired and wireless on my PS3 (for STHDR) I noticed a huge difference but only when I wasn't the host.

Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.

Nice impression haunts.

MarkMan...it's like you put a vacuum right into my wallet and sucked out all my monies. Good job with the sticks. In for two. :D

My impressions on the new TVC Fight Stick:

- MarkMan was kind enough to hook up iPlayWinner with a fight stick and to be honest I was a bit skeptical. I used the MadCatz SE when I was writing the 1up guides for Street Fighter 4 and it only lasted about 3 days under my intense wear and tear of doing combos and everything else.

... this stick on the other hand is leaps and bounds above the SE. I am REAL picky about what I play on and figured I might have some issues with it but it's smooth as butter. I talked to akuma001 about modding it but he said there is "no need due to the modified parts". I wasnt sure I could believe him but after 2 hours of playing I pretty much forgot I wasn't playing on one of my own custom sticks I used at tournaments.

- The weight of this stick is great! It has a real sturdy feel to it and and it's not as light as many of the other sticks I have tried. The one reason I like the Virtua Stick High Grade so much is because it is not light weight, and this stick feels very similar.

- Not sure how to change the art -- it's not bad but I like more minimal designs myself. Sure I could ask MarkMan about that. :P

We've gotten some more help on the TVC guides at iPlayWinner and they are coming together nicely. As I mentioned they will be live just as soon as the game drops.

I'm also plannign doing a Haunts vs the World Tatsunoko vs Capcom edition next week as well. Those of you who dont know how that works, I basically accept game invites and stream the gameplay via ustream. I think this will be a great way for all of us to talk about the game a bit more and maybe learn something along the way. I'll be practicing hard over the next week so hopefully I wont embarrass myself. :lol

Thanks for the impressions/opinions!

DOAU, DOA4, and SFIV are very good games online. I've played in lobbies with people from Europe without any hitches. (lives in Texas) Namco and SNK are really the only fighters with pretty horrible lag. Tekken 6 can be decent when it wants to be.

Player rooms for some games with lobbies(winner is host) and either or for strictly 1vs1. And I can say with certainty that my experience was the same. Some have constant variables around you that can interfere with connection stability, but I sure don't and if you don't either than just be happy with wireless.

Castlevania:Judgement is a Wii fighting game with some of the best fighting game netcode ever. It's almost criminal that such a low key, never played fighting game plays absolutely smooth while something like Brawl had to suffer so badly.

Brawl these days played with friends isn't too bad.

Also Naruto:CONR3 after some really hairy matches in the first few weeks plays more than acceptably. Especially between friends using wired connections, but I've done plenty of wireless randoms these days and it works ok.

Already few days left and all reviews are Nintendo based (save Ganinformer and the crappy Edge one)?

probably because musical taste is subjective and these two contradicting impressions come from two different humans

I haven't heard much of the new music, but it's kind of hard to say whether the original music is better. It is certainly more fitting and interesting (I loved how every character had their own themes and how they switched in and out), but a lot of the compositions were terrible - mainly the Tatsunoko ones. They sound like they're composed with low-quality synthesizers or something and they feel really repetitive (I think Ken's theme is around thirty seconds long).

So the original soundtrack may have fit better, but it's entirely possible that the new music is better to listen to. I think that when people say the new music is terrible, they're just saying that they dislike replacing character themes with "regular" music.

I just take haunt's impressions very seriously, so it's just weird to hear a such a stalwart fighting game fan say a fairly important aspect of a new title (music) is actually really awesome, when the overall impression of these new tracks were apparently holocaust-terrible a few days ago.

TBH I don't like many (if any) of the tracks in the JP version (Only Alex's theme) and there were a couple tracks I like in the promo vids for UAS. So it may not be too unheard of.

When you do have them in stock pick one up with this game. Totally worth it.

Kind of want to wait on the Black console and improved classic controller.

lol, who cares if I like the music? Everyone has different tastes so just judge for yourself. I'm sure a ton of people hate jazzy hip hopm, liquid drum n bass and deep funky house but thats what i'm into -- if something is on the jazzy tip then I'll dig it.

I hate SF4's soundtrack so much -- the only fighting game soundtrack that doesn't give me a headache is TVC: UA and Third Strike.

Classic Controller Pro is very inexpensive on eBay. 35 shipped, just make sure it's official. There are knock off versions for like 25 shipped.
