Team 17 breaks ties with publishers

Thinking about it though... were they really awesome?

You couldn't strafe or walk backwards in Alien Breed... Superfrog was nice but it was just a pretty platformer with cute sounds.. Body Blows was good because it was all we had on Amiga... hm.

They had good graphics and music, I'll say that!
Nah, they were awesome. You could blindly buy any game with Team 17 logo and be sure it will be good quality.

Also...Tower Assault had walking backwards :)

Oh god, Army Men. I remember when I used to work in a video games store, and I couldn't believe how many units of that drek we moved. I mean, jesssuuuussss.

Team 17 have been irrelevant for about 15 years.
Even 15 years ago they were just "okay" cause Armageddon was the one and only remarkable title I can remember from them.

Worms 2 > Worms: Armageddon

Armageddon was just Worms 2 with a bunch of schlock tacked on that did nothing to improve the core game, and all the new weapons were either useless or broke the balance.

What's GAF's opinion on the 3D series, always looked like ass and unnecessary to be in 3D but just wondering.

Considering that it had the potential to be completely terrible in 3D, I think they pulled it off pretty well. However because of the nature of 3D, a lot of the really fun aspects of high-level play in the 2D versions (like setting up mine combos or using ninja rope attack tricks) just don't work. The game also plays slower since you have to spend more time moving and setting up shots.

That reminds me I have not bought Alien Breed remake, how it was?

Ok, a bit too many sirens and too much fetching for what Ive played of it so far (since I got it when it first came out)

Co-op was dissapointing as I'd ranted at a mate about how awesome the original Alien Breed's were on Amiga.

start rant

I want full (optional) story mode co-op in my games FFS. Not forced like RE5, and not cut down / side stuff like Alien Breed or Splinter Cell.

Hopes for Dead Rising 2, apparently with full optional story mode, but can already see something stupid in it like having to stay next to and hold hands with your co-op partner rather then wander off and explore the world.

/end rant

Agreed, based on what little I've played of Worms 4. Team 17 did a great job of faithfully translating the series' mechanics into 3D, but the added complexity in movement, aiming, and jumping means that those mechanics simply aren't as fun as they are in 2D. There's a reason why there haven't been any 3D entries since.

I don't think that's solely a consequence of the 3rd dimension. The weapons and levels just aren't well balanced for a 3D game. Hogs of War did a better job of that, in my opinion.

They would have been better off making an entirely new 3D franchise. It's interesting that Sega ended up making an A-quality 3D turn based action before Team 17 did.
