Team Fortress 2 - A Heavy Update: Live!

Nice catch. Looks like we're getting a mountain wilderness region.

Upon reflection, Natascha sounds decent if only for the fun factor of messing with the enemy team. It'll make the Heavy even more of a defensive beast, if nothing else. Friendly spies and snipers are going to love this thing.

It makes me think of the Companion Cube Soccer arena.

I think the new gun will cause more heavy vs. ________ face-offs instead of opponents running away. It implies that in the description. I'm not really sure what Valve was balancing there. Were they even balancing anything or were they just adding a new gun for the sake of adding a new gun?

This gun will be awesome when teamed up with the pyro or another heavy with a Sasha, or even a demoman. But we don't know the extent of slowdown. Oh yea, forgot about spies and snipers, lol.

Damage trade-off should be at least -35% though.

The new minigun looks like it'll be pretty unbalanced when shooting into a group of enemies. I wonder if it will also slow down ubers? :D

New weapons are underwhelming, except the K.G.B.

If the new environment is pictured, I'd imagine it would look something like this:

I wouldn't mind that :lol

As for a mic, I've bought two $15 Logitech USB mic refurbs from eBay. They are fantastic.

I just thought of something, when there's a cluster of enemies have the Heavy run out and spam Nastasha(slow) then have an Uber Pyro run out and clean house:D

Thanks, now people are gonna bitch more about pyros!

Go to barbecue, bring Russian chick.

I hope Heavy gets an assist point for every enemy that was killed while in slow-down.

Welcome to the interwebs where people bitch just bitch:lol
After they got rid of the +50 health, there were loads of "Pyro sucks now" or "Backburner is Useless" threads
Valve =

I fail to see the complaint about Pyros, especially with the backburner. The Airblast is a mechanic that is the strongest they have currently and any Pyro on D should be using it.

The Backburner is useless now, but Pyros are great with the airblast.
While Airblast is extremely useful don't count out the Backburner, its still effective. If you're Uber the enemy's instinct it to turn and run giving you an easy back-kill. Or I rush a group of enemies jumping/moving erratically sometimes I wind up behind them for the crits. Also effective when there's several enemies attacking/defending on top of a CP, I hug the wall and spam fire and watch the Crit indicator stack up:D

What is the proper way to use airblast?

Blow a cluster of stickies away. I wouldn't try deflecting grenades and rocket back til you get the timing down right. Plus it eats a ton of ammo, which is ammo I'd rather have to do some critting.

Go take your Boo Urns elsewhere. I think this will balance things out nicely.
:lol

What are you even saying? What does this balance?

Ah I get it.

Valve "OH hey so you, against tough odds, somehow manage to enjoy playing scout, well guess what, TOO BAD."

This does sound like it'll hurt my enjoyment of scout. It's my second most played class (with less than half the time of pyro), and I like it as a change of pace. I'll wait to see how everything plays out first though, since there's a lot of numbers up in the air.

Sounds like it'll be good for slowing down the pyro uber rushes, but not too much else.

Doubt it'll affect ubers.

This balances the thousands of servers that are going to get raped on Tuesday with all of the noobs playing Heavy and going to make it easier for the other classes to actually stand a chance against the heavy.

The -25% nerf to the gun but 100% slow is going to be critical on maps like Dustbowl where one of the first points is to keep people from getting out and leave them hanging out for the damage dealers (Demo, Soldier and Pyro) to go in and have fun. On the flip side, you'll also get heavy's on the other side, slowing down the other people for the scouts or anyone else to out flank them or at least get a chance of killing them.

I'm finding it funny that people knee jerk when they read this and throw their arms up in the air and say the update is shit when they haven't even played it nor experienced the effect of what it will do. From the outside--- it's a modest update to the Heavy and will either make people kill them faster or avoid them. Either way, they're a tank and a defender which is exactly why Valve is bringing those aspects to the class.

Oh so that was a joke post, ok, you got me.

The update lacks creativity, and takes an implementation that will bring down my enjoyment of the game, regardless of how balance skewing the update is.

I have no idea what happened with this last update, but my framerate in tf2 is just god awful now. Every other game seems to be running fine... Any ideas of what might have caused this?

Do you even play TF2?

And no that wasn't a joke post and you're one person out of thousands that play the game which makes my point all the more relevant with that sort of retort.

Just as a reference. With a 50% speed reduction (if true) a Scout would be slower than a normal running Heavy.

You got me, I don't even like this game, I'm just here for the pretty pictures.

So you actually responded to my post about balance, with a testament to the weapon's usefulness? Then ended it with "Well everyone else will be moving slower too!"

Dunno, maybe your post was just poorly worded.

I'll reserve my judgment until I actually try it.

It might not look good on paper, but I said the same thing about the removal of grenades. And it's Valve, if it sucks and there are many complaints, they will listen like they did with the Pyro.

So their solution for making heavy a more viable solo class is to give him a weapon that does less damage. Awesome
No, the solution for solo heavies is the Sandvich.

So less damage, no long range ability, and a weapon slot that makes you defenseless is a solution?

Only things I could see making the weapons useful would be if the new minigun had less spin up, more accuracy, and faster walk speed, and if the sandwich has a pistol as its primary fire.

Hopefully the maps can make up for the awful weapons.

Technically, we're all to blame for the lack of creativity.

No long range ability? Are we talking about the same class?

Natascha will absolutely be useful. First of all, if the snare is 50% as was leaked then it will be a significant improvement in killing ability with only a 25% damage penalty. Twice as much time to shoot someone before they escape at 75% damage = 150% damage compared to Sasha, in exchange for the vulnerability. On top of that such a significant slowdown will make them sitting ducks to the rest of your team, so it will actually be useful at mid range where you can hit people semi-regularly but the damage isn't much.

The shotgun is useful but not that big a deal to the Heavy. The point of the sandvich is to give him a way to recover the damage that he inevitably takes in every fight without needing a Medic, the details of which remain to be seen. The whole problem with his solo viability was that he always got hurt and had to run all the way back to a medpack.

Am I the only one that likes this update? It gives the Heavy a way to help teammates, by giving slower targets to hit, especially for those Soldiers and Demomen to feast on.

I like the new minigun. It sounds like it would be overpowered when mixed with crits though, just like the Backburner was only overpowered when mixed with a Medic.
