Steam News Update said:
You've met the Heavy, You've met the Soldier. In a few short days you'll be able to meet the Engineer, the third character to introduce himself from Team Fortress 2. The high-definition movie will be posted on Steam early next week.

While the Heavy considers bullets-per-minute the measure of a man, and the Soldier values an unusually deep knowledge of military philosophy, the Engineer is content to solve problems. Practical problems. Click the thumbnails for a sneak peek.

In other TF2 news, stay tuned for a pretty big announcement next week. You're going to want to hold off on planning any vacations until you hear what we've got to say on Tuesday.

Stress Test or Demo?

"Stress Test or Demo?"

Not to dash your hopes (I'm hoping too), there's no need for a Stress Test on a game that does not bunch all of the players together on a single server.

Your right about the stress test but maybe they'll release a beta to test class balance? Because I would assume a demo would have a limited amount of classes available.

I never see this around but on Valve's FTP they have mini bios that they release with each character movie, if anyone is interested.

Name: Heavy Weapons Guy
Role: Defense
Weapons: Chain Gun / Shotgun / Giant Fists
Birth Weight: 22.6 Kilos

Bio:
Like a hibernating bear, the Heavy appears to be a gentle giant. Also like a bear, confusing his deliberate, sleepy demeanor with gentleness will get you ripped limb from limb. Though he speaks simply and moves with an economy of energy that’s often confused with napping, the Heavy isn’t dumb, he’s not your big friend, and he generally wishes you’d just shut up before he has to make you shut up.

------------------------------------------------------

Name: Soldier
Role: Offense
Weapons: Rocket Launcher / Shotgun / Shovel
Favorite World War: 2
Special Ability: Rocket Jump

Bio:
Though he wanted desperately to fight in World War 2, the Soldier was rejected from every branch of the U.S. military. Undaunted, he bought his own ticket to Europe. After arriving and finally locating Poland, the Soldier taught himself how to load and fire a variety of weapons before embarking on a Nazi killing spree for which he was awarded several medals that he designed and made himself. His rampage ended immediately upon hearing about the end of the war in 1949.

------------------------------------------------------

Name: Engineer
Role: Defense
Weapons: Shotgun / Pistol / Wrench

Contraptions: Turret / Dispenser / Teleporter
Favorite Equation:

Bio:
This amiable, soft-spoken good ol’ boy from tiny Bee Cave, Texas loves barbeque, guns, and higher education. Natural curiosity, ten years as a roughneck in the west Texas oilfields, and eleven hard science PhDs have trained him to design, build and repair a variety of deadly contraptions.

an mp only demo of the upgraded 2Fort is pretty much going to guarantee a kazillion sales for day 1.

:lol :lol :lol

Recently ordered a new computer and this was part of the reason why =)

I bet it's a demo. Not gonna get the computer until the end of september though so no hurry for me =P

like i said in the other thread, i expect a pre-release similar to how they did CS:S for people who pre-ordered HL2. so expect pre-orders to start and pre-loading to start, and then soon after the release of TF2 on steam (only for those who preorder on steam) :D

The characterization of the Soldier is hilarious. From the small little biography to the video, even more so when you read the biography after watching the video.

I'm definitely hoping for the demo. Because unless I'm convinced it's gonna be more noob friendly than CS: Source or DoD: Source, I might seriously consider saving my money (Despite how awesome I think it looks.)

The last line's just as good as the one you bolded. Just a crack job bio all the way around.

Some IGN videos that we missed - Here

Some pretty good Spy and Demoman action. The spy cloaking looks like it's going to set up a bunch of hilarious moments.

You also finally get to see some sticky bomb action.

Tomorrow needs to hurry the fuck up!

I really doubt they'll release a demo for it, what it would be like? Only soldiers or medics playable?

1 map demo, with the rest released on the 10th October so I don't need to download the entire thing again. Hopefully.

Wasn't there a demo for DoD:S before it went up? I can't remember. I think I played CS:S before release too but that may have been a beta.

I start a 36 hour shift tomorrow, and then have to travel for a seminar. Up yours Valve (just kidding, I love you)!

Edit: The realization that I've almost aged 10 fucking years waiting for this game makes me sad.

I think the public will be playing Team Fortess 2 sometime this week.

That being said, will it be that if you pre-purchased the Orange Box on Steam you get access to TF2 immediately, public PC beta, or a public PC/360/PS3 beta?

I hope it is the latter, but most likely it will be the former.

played the mp demo in leipzig for 30 minutes. loved it!!!
it was so much fun they had to throw me out of the tent.
Hope they will release a beta soon...
