Good news, make the action as kinetic, varied and bloody as possible.
I think current Team Ninja is capable of doing a new Ninja Gaiden game, but I'm concerned that the game will be designed for "modern audiences."No faith that this will be good. Was bad enough that it isn't being done by Itagaki or the less talented Team Ninja that hasn't done a good Ninja Gaiden game that wasn't first touched by Itagaki.
I would love to be proven wrong, but I'm keeping my expectations very low.
A bit drunk right now, but lucid enough to interact still...I have just realized how removed I am from playing the reboot, should it come out: I need to get a job, find an apartment, grab a TV, buy a PS5 and, finally, invest in a copy of the game...![]()
I agree. I like soulslike games but not everything has to be made like that, especially old franchises.
you've missed a few: rebuild your self esteem, mend all the broken bridges, the shattered career, the motivation, the inclination to open the curtains, and last but not least - find that pair of pants that have been eluding you for so long now.
There are two roads here. An actual gritty reboot of DoA that takes itself more seriously for 'modern audiences' like you claim and it revitalizes the franchise back to it's glory days of the Dreamcast-Xbox gen, or a DoA project that leans even further into sexual design but possible further obscurity from larger audiences, who already looked at the last DoA game like an ancient relic compared to Tekken.Say bye bye to your precious tatas in DOA. lol Them 'modern audiences' . Watch.
Hopefully to actually introduce new gameplay mechanics. Why Reboot though?
I really hate this. Why are the Japanese listening to a loud mouthed minority? Not every in the U.S is some unhinged blue haired liberal.

I mean, they can. It's not like anyone really cares about the story in these games that much. My guess is that it might be a large re-invention of the gameplay if they're considering a reboot. But who knows. Why can't they do that in Ninja Gaiden 4?

I can see Platinum Games doing it.
For people who are excited, The new Ninja Gaiden game is not made by Team Ninja
Is Razors Edge worth playing? In terms of not being let down after 2.NG3 (directed by hayashi) was a disaster, but they learned with Razor's Edge what people want (cut pretentious ass hayashi out as director/designer and go back to what worked with Itagaki), so this will probably be good since Razer's edge's director will probably do this as well (he did RE, NIOH, NIOH2 and now Wo Long)
Yes, i hated ng3, but RE was dopeIs Razors Edge worth playing? In terms of not being let down after 2.
They did by introducing the "steel on bone®" mechanic in NG3/RE and...everybody hated it Miku.Hopefully to actually introduce new gameplay mechanics.
If they stay with something more similar to the previous games but provide some meaningful additions Im fine. But I do tend to think they have some scars from NG3 and Itagaki's departure and may prefer to make the series their own thing instead of trying to copy a game created by someone who isn't there anymore. But this is all speculation anyway. Hopefully we hear something soon. Im always down for something new. The old games aren't going anywhere. They did by introducing the "steel on bone®" mechanic in NG3/RE and...everybody hated it Miku.
I know that the problem(s) with NG3/RE wasn't that specific mechanic only and instead was a culmination of different things (mushy combat, sponge enemies, ugly level design, story etc) but...I really can't see/understand why a "reboot" is called for, I mean, NG black is already perfect as it is (minus the camera which was somewhat fixed in Sigma 1) - unless of course they they try to "erase" the lore/mythos behind the 3D trilogy (fiends/dragon sword/Ryu getting cursed etc) and instead go with the NES cyber-organic esthetics, or, try a more grounded approach like the original arcade game did ? (Street fights basically), shit, I really don't know, what they SHOULD do though is stick to NG2's combat system which 10+ years after its release is still sublime.
I shudder at the thought of a NG game with a new God of war over the shoulder camera (it wouldn't surprise me though).
Now, regarding DOA...that's a franchise which I really don't understand the whole reboot thing behind it, I mean, it's a 3D beat 'em up for Christ's sake, what can be done about it ? Remove the lollies ? That was always part of its appeal.
Make it more "grounded" ? How exactly ?
Change the combat/fighting systems ? Again, it's a 3D fighting game, there's not much you can (nor should) change.
I really don't get "reboots", why can't companies just fix things with sequels ? It doesn't make any sense to me - especially with these kind of games...
Cheers
Right, its NG3 that I havent played - thanks. Think Im gonna jump into one of those, maybe start with Sigma 1 actually..Yes, i hated ng3, but RE was dope
Sigma 1 and 2 are kinda shitty redone versions of black and 2, but I guess still kinda worth playing if you don't have access to the originals.
I know GAF hates this guy, don't shoot me lol.
The notion in this thread that only Itagaki can make Ninja Gaiden is absurd, no different than Kojima with Metal Gear. There are dozens upon dozens of people who worked on Ninja Gaiden Black (an updated rerelease to improve on the not-so-flawless original by the way). And lets please be honest: vanilla Ninja Gaiden 2 is a lot better than Sigma 2 but it wasn't exactly gold. The game had plenty of balance & variety issues, not to mention technical problems that only recently just got fixed when playing BC via Xbox Series.
If this reboot/sequel sucks, its not because of no Itagaki. DOA5 had no Itagaki and it had the most fans of any entry and the most financial success.
Yeah, seeing what an embarassing joke his career become after he left TN only showing how much of a "genius" he is.The notion in this thread that only Itagaki can make Ninja Gaiden is absurd, no different than Kojima with Metal Gear.
