Team Ninja head fancies a Dead or Alive X Virtua Fighter crossover

I feel the opposite. Xiaoyu looks cute as hell and I like what they did with Lili for some reason.

OK.

Day 1. VF combat system with DoA's interactive stages? Damn.

If anything, I would love to see this crossover be all the reason to bring back the DOA++ style of play. Add AM2's sensibilities to the mix, and it would truly be something special.

Vanessa and Lisa team up combo. Double Chocolate team is go!

Except for the part where Sega removed Vanessa's muscles and melanin.

Dicks.

We can't have them scary brown people in our faightan gaems. Unless they're pimp/coonin' based joke characters.

I want Virtua Fighter 6 and Virtua Fighter 4 Vanessa back in it! >:|

Virtua Fighter 5R (and I assume Final Showdown) have customization options that give Vanessa back her VF4 complexion and muscle tone.

Small consolation and It's a real shame they removed them in the first place though. They pulled a reverse Birdie.

VF is too complicated. DOA isn't complicated enough.

Someone should make a 3D fighter that hits the middle ground. It'd be better than either of those two games and it would outsell them both as a result.

we could call it... "Tekken"

You probably spent the time finding the worse pic. lol - Tekken females look great in SFxT. I don't get the complaint that they aren't.

You could have started by showing a decent lili pic in SF X T. Xiaoyu looks great, I agree. Rest? not so much.

All this crossover talk makes me want another Fighters Megamix title =(

It wasn't the most balanced fighter, but man I had a blast playing it with friends.

Virtua Fighter is the best 3D fighting franchise of all time, DOA isn't even though I enjoy it as more relaxed fighting title. If DOA could boost the attention VF receives though, then this would be a good move. I'd prefer AM2 handled development though.

Regardless, doubt it will ever happen, this isn't the first time outside devs have discussed wanting to do this with Sega.

I hope so.

I don't see many people using her, but when I do it's the shitty waifu friendly VF5 Vanessa.

The only real problem I had with VF4 Vanessa is her lower body seemed to be modeled a bit oddly. A muscular woman obviously has more mass, but it seemed disproportionate in VF4. Vanessa seemed to be built like Hayley McNeff so Sega ought to do some referencing. Maybe a little bigger.

That would be pretty cool.
It makes more since to me than Street Fighter and Tekken being together.

I'd buy it.
More DOA is always a good thing. And Virtua Fighter isn't that bad.

If DOA 5 restores some of the balance of pre-DOA4 iterations and gives top-tier players a way to play more offensively, then yeah, a Dead or Alive X Virtua Fighter would be a dream game for a person like me.

I always found it interesting that Itagaki intended to make DOA a heavily offensive game when, at top-tier play, a person who has mastered the counter system is heavily favored to win if he plays defensively.

Itagaki's sense of balancing in DOA4 was so atrocious that I've wondered if he even likes fighting games, or if he was content with anything he made so long as it satisfied his animu fan service cravings.

Believe it or not this would be easy as shit to implement since they share a lot of the same systems. Gets DOA into the arcades and VF into the homes. Would be cool given that Yu Suzaki helped Itagaki out with DOA1.

Tekken is just as complicated, if not more complicated than VF.

So many more character matchups and the strings just get even more complex with each game

Cool stuff tends to happen when you mash though

Yeah, I always thought her thighs in VF4 were rather huge even for a built woman.

Also, maybe this is clone Vanessa and not real Vanessa... >_>

Same with VF, you just have to pick a character like Lei

Please don't give me more reasons to hate FAIGHTAN GAEM "stories" and the idiots that treat it like classic literature.

"Stories" only get in the way, ruin rosters, and make fighting game threads insufferable.

Just the thought of the most technical fighter with, well, DOA seems kind of impossible to me. But then again, its nice to want things i guess.

I agree. But I also feel it's silly to complain about changing the look of a character like this. :P

Well I guess in Hikaru terms, this would be like making your favorite under aged waifu character into a mature woman with fully developed secondary sexual traits, or for everybody else making SFA Birdie look like Dave Chapelle.

I would love this crossover like you wouldn't believe. 2 Drunken Boxers? Lets GO. Brad Wong is leagues better than VF drunks though. The game will be a blast to play, but sadly with its counter system its likely it'd never be seen as very tourney competitive limiting its shelf life. However, I LOVE DOA. Lets go.

Virtua Fighter is in a completely different league to DOA.

I'd still love to see this happen (assuming they did an A+ job). While Virtua Fighter is my main love, both DOA2 and 4 were fantastic go-to casual fighting experiences. Had a lot of fun with them.

The main problem though would be balancing the counter system across both fighters. Counters are very character-specific in VF, working nothing like the DOA system.

The second main problem is that VF has absolutely zero mass market appeal outside of the hardcore fighting community, whereas DOA has quite a bit. It might be a "DOA vs VF? Who cares?" situation.

The VF story is 'amazing' for the purpose.

There's a tournament. Your character is fighting in it. Go!

... oh, more? Erm, well I guess the tournament is being held by this company called J6. They're kind of evil and have brainwashed some of the characters or something. And they keep making this android silver naked lady called Dural who is the end boss and tough as nails. Go!

... really? You want more? Er, Dural is Kage's mother. Or used to be. It's someone else now. Also a couple of the characters are secret assassins unrelated to J6. Look, we don't really care and we're just doing this to pad out our manuals, okay? Go play the fucking game already.

... not enough? I mean, guy, seriously? Okay, fine, new story: you're a player in a Japanese arcade and you want to become the best at Virtua Fighter. It's called Quest mode. Now shut your mouth.

There is only one way to balance the counters in DOA to make it tourney competitive. The counter button requires a seperate meter. The addition of a meter also adds the idea of meter specific moves to DOA. If you add a counter meter and a hyper meter it'd largely look like the SFIV meter system except instead of one of those being for ultras it'd be for counters.

I think a system like this could work for DOA. Just don't make it one meter for both big moves and counters because then it'd defeat the purpose of adding more moves just like in TvC. In that game meter was always saved for combo breakers and only used on hypers to kill.

Game saved in 2 meters. Hell 1 meter if you don't add hypers and just want to balance the counter system through a meter cost, but I want an excuse to see a Brad Wong Hyper created someday. You're welcome Team Ninja...NOW LETS DO THIS THING.
