Team Ninja & Nintendo - NEW METROID on Wii!

So he said look at Fusion for an idea as how Other M is going to be, or something along those lines. My hype went from rock hard to flacid :( I just played through Zero Mission and Fusion and was rather unimpressed with Fusion, while I really liked what they did with ZM. My problem with Fusion wasn't the 'hand holding', it was the incredible feeling of sameness through the whole game. It felt like I was going through the same 6 areas, just reskinned, and poorly at that. I understand the idea that it was all on the ship, but I just didn't like it. The game just seemed so dull through and through. I also wasn't too fond of the hub concept that was in place here. I never felt like I was exploring anything. I imagine they'll probably take the hub idea and put it in Other M, which if done right I can live with, I guess.

Personally, I think what he implied was that Other M was going to be likened to Fusion, in light of how they tried to tell a story throughout the adventure being similar to the way it was done in the former game.

Beyond that, I would think that would be it. But we'll see.

Plus the game takes place between Super and Fusion.

Hmmm... I didn't think of that. Well, I actually like the story elements of the game and the presentation so I don't think that'd be bad if MOM is done in a similar fashion.

Sorry to bump this without too much information, much less new media. It's been forever and a day since we heard about this game, but there's at least a small tidbit on Other M from Reggie in the Gametrailers TV vid someone posted in the Galaxy 2 thread:

"And Other M. That's another franchise I've personally got great memories for... Back to a side scrolling Metroid title..."
So, does that mean side scrolling is definitely the primary perspective? He mentions it so casually and the wording is almost ambiguous enough to make you think he might just be referring to his memories of the old Metroid games. It's hard to be sure. Back around E3 Sakamoto was saying they should have something playable soon, but we haven't heard or seen squat since. Is Reggie just talking out his ass based on old footage or is this the first quasi-confirmation of the gameplay style?

2010 is so far away. :(

I honestly doubt Reggie knows enough about the game to make that comment. I think it's pretty obvious Other M will stray a long way from what Metroid is at its core, and that Reggie's trying to present it as if it's a comeback in order to make people less doubtful.

Then again, he might have played it recently and he might be a big fan of Metroid, but what are the chances?
