So Nintendo paid for this exclusive?

How much did the first Rygar sell?

Well good for Nintendo as they finally get something of quality. The wii maybe selling well, but only because of the controller itself and price. We know it has nothing to do with high quality software that is selling the console.

Gamers sure love that controller. Even though there are no games that use it properly the people can clearly see the uses it has for future games. Paying For Potential at its finest.

Oh wait Wii is selling because of Wii Sports.

I never got to play the PS2 game, but I thought it looked pretty cool. This could be really sweet on the Wii.
I own it. It's too slow for me to finish. I probably will someday, but it feels/looks like a first ps2 game. Nice music, though.

This thread is getting weird. People are now talking about hair styles? The rabidness is pretty scary. I fear for when Tecmo finally releases the first screens. There will be moaning about unmet expectations at the rate people are going in this thread.

Did you check out the thread I jsut created?

Is this game going to be shown anytime soon? Was there just a press conference and that's all, or is there some planned demonstration as well?

I can see this being very cool. Tecmo will obviously push the graphical barrier to around Xbox level, but I'm more excited for the controls.

Imagine if you had to swing the wiimote to swing the weapon, and then let it go to fling it out towards enemies. It would be a simple but amazingly fun mechanic.

I can't wait, wii's 2008 lineup is beefing up surely but slowly.

Very interesting....next to Capcom's Bionic Commando, Rygar was definitely one of my top picks of "old series that could probably stand to benefit from a 'wii-hancement'." :D

I suppose the only thing I should concern myself now would be a) pray that this game is awesome and b) if Tecmo will just cut us a break and put the original Arcade game and NES port as unlockables on the Wii game.

Rygar strikes a chord with those of us who remember him, but I doubt that either of those two versions of the original game would sell well enough on the VC to make it worth the trouble of putting them there.

Project Hammer seemed to be Nintendo's answer to the lack of a quality GOW/DMC type brawler on their system; that seems much less relevant to them now.

7 pages already? Nice. 4 more pages than the actual Rygar Wii thread will be when it comes out. :lol

You're not taking this well are you? Do you want to actually add something to the discussion? or just continue to "lolz no one really interested lolz". I KNOW there is a better thread to be in.

"
Based on the classic NES/Arcade game (which also made a glorious stop on PS2), this game starts the franchise anew with new characters and settings. Kikuchi wants to make a game that people can easily get into through the Wiimote, and the Wiimote will be your main control device for Rygar's Diskarmor. He hopes to be able to show more of Rygar some time this year."

So it's basically the PS2 version ported to the Wii.

Just another reason why a true sequel will hit PS3/360.

My impression is that actually it is a new title.

What the hell are you talking about? It says it's based on the NES game, which the PS2 game is also based on. It then says it starts the franchise anew, and has new settings. Talk about selective reading.

So you basically piss on the streets...

See how I used your readingskills-lack of?

It's amazing :D

I love how if a game is on the Wii, it's not a "true" sequel. :lol

My God, I get the feeling the next couple years is going to be a bitch for some people at Neogaf.

I'm taking it fine. Read earlier in the thread. If you can read that is. I said it's a nice fit for the system. It's a shame the majority of the people who are now interested, probably didn't play the PS2 version of Rygar. Then the thread got all system wars over RYGAR of all things, ballooning the thread helping my prediction out. =)

Besides, what more is there to discuss? They only showed a picture. But the thread is still 7 pages. =P People interested in this should go back and play the PS2 game to get reintroduced to the series.

But...you know, oh whoa is me and all that. :)

It just seems like they're doing a Sigma with this one.

Play through the original PS2 game with new game mechanics, some added levels and a new character.

You'd be an idiot to not think this isn't a true sequel.

Edit: NM, I are the idiot. Still think it'll come to PS3/360 though.

I will slurph up the bitter tears they cry and it shall sustain me through hardtimes.

Wow, I was just trying to play Rygar for NES, that crap is hard as hell. Why the hell do NES games seem so much harder now, then when I was a kid. Could I have possibly have been a more skilled gamer at the age of 7 then at the age of 24?

Thank God I'm not the only one. Some games from the NES days make modern games look pussified. :|

Well they said they'd be bringing Rygar to next-gen systems and the Wii is clearly not next-gen.

:p

Nonesense like this. Derailing threads on Exclusive Wii games should be a bannable offense. Its the same as the NiGHTS thread. Derail with Agenda posts.

You clearly do not know the definition of "next generation."

As much as it may pain you to hear it, the Wii is a "next generation" system.

Well, current generation, now.

It's all about comparisons and expectations... Back then nearly every game was pretty tough so your expectations were built around a different median difficulty.. Now most games are pretty easy so your expectations (and skills) have evolved.

I was the first to post the Nights Wii rumor here. Shit, I don't have any "agenda." I got plans to buy a Wii down the line.
