Tecmo: Ninja Gaiden 3 will be "spectacular"

I can only imagine how bad Itakagi will trash NG3.

Hopefully they bring the blood back and dont stay the Sigma 2 route with decapitated enemies spewing..................purple mist?????

It'll be glitter and fireworks in NG3 :)

Hmmm... i think the team can handle ninja gaiden... im just not so sure of big of an impact it will have. I am more curious about whats going on with dead or alive... there hasnt been any talk of DOA5 and DOA4 was a launch title... it's about time we at least get a teaser.

I don't trust these clowns one bit to handle Ninja Gaiden 3 without Itagaki and the rest whatsoever.

I'll be watching, but I've seen their past efforts and I didn't like any of their changes one bit.

I liked NG2 better than Bayonetta...nothing crazy about that. While I liked Bayonetta the story/cut scenes and music knocked it down a few pegs in my book.

:lol I can't read the word "spectacular" without imagining his voice saying it anymore. Perfect image for the OP, too. And, hell, perfect image for the game, really. At least it got to the first page, albeit barely.

I've been looking to buy NGS recently. What makes you say that it "pales in comparison" to Black?

Never played Black, but Sigma is fantastic. I've bought it four or five times. (Due to my own anger issues bwahahaha. I'd get angry at it and sell it. Then buy it again a few weeks later. Then repeat the cycle)

Sigma is a great game, especially for the price you can get it for now.

I never got the chance to try Sigma 2 but I can't imagine it being worse than the original Ninja Gaiden 2.

Improve the netcode and don't arbitrarily force a single difficulty level per mission, thanks.

NG2 and NGS2 are fairly different. NGS2 streamlines things a lot (easier difficulty, removing a lot of unnecessary stuff), which is both a good and/or bad thing, depending on your preference. They removed the best fights in the game (trials of valor, man I loved those), but also removed the worst sections of the game (underwater fighting, projectile spam on mentor and above). A positive side effect of this is that the harder difficulties are more manageable and much less frustrating.

The best thing they added was the online co-op. Ninja Gaiden gameplay + co-op is awesome. Netcode isn't that great, though. There are 35 missions, but through some terrible horrific awful design decision (that wasn't there in mission mode for NG2), you are only to play through each mission in its single preset difficulty level. 10 of the missions are throwaway Acolyte drivel, 10 more are single-playthrough Warrior yawn-a-thons. There's only 5 mentor, 5 master ninja, 5 ultimate ninja left, and most of those are simply (multiple) boss battles (not the game's best parts), made even worse by the fact that any amount of significant lag will get you killed against a boss. Both the best and worst of the game. But man do I love Ninja Gaiden + online co-op.

I've never played black either, but the major complaint I hear against Sigma are the Rachel segments (unpolished).

I thought sigma was fun aside from some platforming segments and some pacing issues (things would move along at a good challenging pace then you'd hit a fight that was a brick wall). Before I started I figured I would go through the game once and then take the time to learn more about the combat system on a second playthrough, but I never ended up going back.

That's funny since they made it much better than the 360 version. Your post has a bit of stealth.

Not sure if serious

I *loved* playing is Rachel. My only problem is, as you say, the horribly wreck the pacing. You're all set to continue kicking ass as Ryu, getting in to the swing and flow of combat and then it switches it up for a single level. It would have been better to have her stuff as a "Separate Ways" type scenario.

Hoho, what a calibre of wit. Changing a game's name so it has a rude word in it, thus implying that the game itself possesses qualities of said rude word. My, my sir. You are clever.

I want my blood bath back in Ninja Gaiden 3, not suger and rainbows....

According to some people I know, NG3 might be exclusive to the PS3. I'm hearing Sony might swoop in with an exclusive deal.
Odd decision, considering how Sigma 2 bombed, it sold like 30K~ in it's first month NPD and never charted again, the fanbase is mostly on Xbox, IIRC they reported that it sold 1 million WW a few months after release.

There are very significant parts where NG2 is substantially better than NGS2, and there are also very significant parts where NGS2 is substantially better than NG2.

You are 15 years old aren't you?

So says the person that thought replacing part of a game title with a swear word is an epic burn. And that taking blood out of a game ruined it. Simpleton.

But come on sunshine, lets hear the logic for this. Why do you think I'm 15?

Ninja Gaiden Black is the king.

Ninja Gaiden 2 and Sigma 2 are both brilliant, and terrible in different ways. The definitive Ninja Gaiden 2 experience, is somewhere in between these two versions.

The core combat in Ninja Gaiden 2 is just lovely, though. Making it my preferred version. But I love how much better Sigma 2 looks. It's an impossible call.

Hopefully a potential Ninja Gaiden 3 could de-thrown the King, but I doubt it. Itagaki demanded perfection, with Ninja Gaiden Black, he created it.

On topic: more NG is fine by me. All the ones I've played (which were all but NG2) were lots of fun and I welcome a third with wide open arms.

Off topic: you guys need to take this immature name calling, fan boy bullshit the fuck off this thread. It's getting tiresome.

I agree. I'm probably gonna get railed for this, but I liked it better than GOW3 as well. The main problem was blocking and dodging in GOW3. I didn't like having to take your finger off the buttons and onto the right analog stick. It's such a nuisance especially after playing NG.

There are some parts of NGS that weren't upgraded graphically, particularly the water. NGB on 360 looks damn good though. It actually looks like it could have been released just how it was as a launch game. Frame rate also has something to do with it. They got the NGB working better on 360 than a game built from the ground up for PS3. PS3 also has the Rachel missions, which are pretty terrible imo. At the end of the day, both games are good though. I would say NGS2 was a better experience than NGS though.

No! Reducing the blood was the best decision they made with Sigma 2, much better game just because of that.
Imagine watching Kill Bill and instead of blood some purple gas comes out of bodies, Is it the same awesome movie? hell no.

The lack of blood and gore in Sigma 2 made me sad.

Like the cutscene where Ryu fights a bunch of werewolves and cuts one in half? That's totally butchered in the ps3 version and it's absolutely hilarious in the original.

If there's thing I can't stop it's censorship!
Sigma 2 sounds great to me. I haven't actually played Sigma 2 yet, but the gore level in NG2 is a bit much for me. I especially don't really care for the limb-cutting business (and how they stick around in the level after the battle).

But I recognize that the chief audience of these games eats that stuff up, so I try to put up with it since I like the actual gameplay.

I'm with you. Some people just can't face the truth.
NG2S is the better game. But it's still a far cry of what it should have been. All he did was gut out part of the game to make it run better and bring difficulty down, followed by adding in a bunch of shit. Instead of fine tuning and polishing(What NG2 was lacking since it was thrown out early) already had.

Are you suggesting blood is what makes Ninja Gaiden awesome? Because if you are, you're playing these games for the wrong reason.

Replacing the blood with purple mist didn't make the game better, but it didn't make it worse either. In the demon-slaying-werewolf-cutting-world of Ninja Gaiden, it still works. In Kill Bill it wouldn't work because it just wouldn't make sense for purple mist to spray out of bodies while everything else is portrayed realistically. Ninja Gaiden doesn't have that problem.

actually NG2 =/= NGS2. they sorta cancel each other out with the stuff they included or had taken away.

.... and.... oh just make it like bayonetta but with good graphics.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I won't get into the debate of which version of each game is best. I will say that I liked the first game better than the second though. I'm guessing that's what most think though.

That's why I said Sigma 2 is better, not the same.
Okay, difference is: Kill Bill is a bad movie covered with blood. Ninja Gaiden is a great game that was hidden beneath all that gore.

I think the current team is capable of pulling off a well made ninja gaiden 3 given proper time and resources. At the very least it will be interesting to see what kind of engine they pull together from scratch.

I preferred Sigma 2 to NG2 due to the online and the difficulty tweaking. I could never beat NGS2 on Master Ninja though--can't imagine how people did it on NG2.

Because my post was obviously a dig at his Sony fanboyism more than Resistance.

Making it "Reshitstance" rather than "Resistance" was pure bait. What's amazing is it wasn't him who fell for it, but you.

as much as i love to troll, it's not very mature or a well-known activity. of course he didn't catch on to what you were doing.

No Itagaki = game full of "new" characters that play like shit and waggle there big boobs when getting sprayed by purple smoke.

Give me Itagaki
Give me Ryu Hayabusa only
Give me endless Black Spider Ninja clan
Give me kick ass boss fights (No silver worms ktnx)
Give me blood and severed limbs, lots of both
Make me cry.

It's all I ask.

Hayashi has had 2 strikes so far, here's hoping his solo debut will allow him a chance to flesh out his own ideas instead of castrating other peoples work :P (I'm a bit harsh but seriously)

I want the guy to succeed but he needs to realize every decision he's made on ninja gaiden has impacted the gameplay in mostly negative ways.

It's all well and good to give the player a chance to ogle a giant pair of tits , lots of developers do it but Ninja Gaiden is a game for Ryu Hayabusa to slaughter monsters in. NG3 should NOT have any girl levels in the main story, make them a bonus unlockable mode only after the actual game is finished, hell , even have a DLC where you can play through the whole game as someone else just for speed and challenge runs.

I'm just bitter I ended up giving up on Sigma 2 as soon as I got stuck playing as the first girl and hit a wall in difficulty I never encountered even once playing as Ryu on the 360 version (which is by and large a more difficult , some would even say - broken, experience). Why should I , as the player be subjected to learning a completly different playstyle for a single stage? Atleast The ayane level that was present in the demo felt close to enough to Ryu that it worked.

Also, a compromise needs to be made on the violence, I really truly believe the 360 edition worked better in part because of the ninja scroll esque dismemberment /gore/blood. Replacing all that with fairy dust is why I consider hayashi a surgeon- skilled at the art of turning Ryu into a eunuch. The man removed the balls of the series. So the comprimise I propose is that in japan release a hardcore Z rated experience on 360 only with the same level of violence as the 2nd game. This version then gets ported to europe and america on ps3 and 360. In japan only the ps3 version gets delayed so the violence can be turned off. Other then that the 2 games would be as identical as possible, perhaps even start the game on ps3 and port it to 360 this time since it seems they have a harder time with ps3(it took a year to remake an xbox game and almost 18 months to port a 360 game).

If they follow that and manage to create more interesting bosses and levels then 2 had in either of it's incarnations I think we'll be in for a treat.
