Still weird that Morgana ended up being a he after everyone thought it was a she for so long. I think his stick might have gone over better as a female character too, weirdly enough.

The actual one thing I never understood is why people wanted Mona to be a girl.

It most definitely would have, especially where Ann is concerned.
I dunno, I just felt that if Mona was a girl, they likely wouldn't have given him the exact same personality he has, or at least, would've dialed it back and made it a lot more tolerable, namely the whole "Lady Ann" shtick he had going on. Just a hunch.
Female Morgana would probably not be a creep toward anyone and her name and DLC costumes would make more sense.

Can't speak for the dubs but JPN Morgana is infinitely more likeable than Teddy.

I'll admit that I was bummed by that almost complete lack of cat puns in Persona 5. If we had to suffer Teddie, a cat should have been granted equal liberties. Seriously, they had SO much material to work with but had all of 2-3 total jokes. Horrible script.
Just thinking about this makes me want to cry.

Ryuji has no game, and you the MC exists if a female Mona must crush on anyone. Hell, male Mona is already halfway there, what with him repeatedly mentioning how special and awesome you are.

That's why it's funnier if the only game he has is with a cat.
I love Persona 4 Golden to death, but I am glad to not be called "senpai" over and over again in Persona 5.
To be clear I have no issue with male characters wearing traditionally female clothing. It's just that the promotional material shows him looking embarrassed/uncomfortable wearing them so I found the shtick odd.
Not to mention it tricked me into thinking
his reveal would be related to subversion of gender roles in some shape or form, which made it extra disappointing.
I just imagined a combination of these two and I wish I didn't.
