So I just picked up the final DVD for the previous season which I remembered was previously reported as having the first block of "Tales of" eps. I can confirm that is the case.

There are
4
episodes to this new block and has a pretty neat finale.

I won't say any more until they air unless anyone has questions.

Yeah- that was a really good finale.

New theme is garbage.

We Ghostbusters now huh...

I liked the finale to this mini arc, just hate how Leo can always call on Splinter. It minimizes the impact of his death when he keeps showing up every episode.

With him saying goodbye I don't think we will see him anymore. And the voice actor for tiger claw tweeted this is the last appearance of tiger claw.

Playstation is running a sale on TMNT Volumes. $8.99 for HD or SD versions of all Volumes. They are packing about 12 episodes in a Volume (10 for the latest). I'm thinking of buying this current season (Volume 9) and watching them that way.

How is this season shaping up so far?

Better than nearly all of season 4 and most of season 3.

Man, they upped the amount of "die" and "death" and "dead" being said in that finale. Now to check out the new episodes.

Zombie Bradford didn't look any different

worst thing about this series was the intro rap. glad its gone so i don't have to feel embarrassed watching this series as an adult

Wait, there was a special? Was it good? Is it in the app? Actually I just realized I never knew season 5 started!

I thought it was good. Not something spectacular but the characters that were in it were nice. No idea if its in the app.

I missed the first episode or two of season 5 because it changed names and my DVR didn't track it.

That must be why. Looks like all the episodes are in the app so I'll catch up soon!

Usagi is so fucking dope. Huge fan.

And I actually found his action figure at Walmart. I got 3 of them. They didn't have his original blue robe one though.

Just caught up -- didn't know that the new episode was last week. Is it just me, or was the action really good in this episode?

They did a good job. I wonder if the series is going to rest a while or its only going to be a few years until the next project.

I'm happy with how the show turned out, on the whole. Great designs, some strong voiceover choices, some of the plot and character choices are among my favorite in the franchise.

Little too much "villain of the week" and repetition in fighting the same groups of baddies over and over and over... but, a lot of TMNT suffers from that.

I know their next show is going to skew younger. But Someday, I'd like to see them take some of the grander, more ambitious ideas we saw in the 2012 series and go one step further with it. Go full Avatar/Kora and give us a show that has a stronger continuous story.

In fact, if Nickelodeon really wants to capitalize on this license, they should just give us two shows. Why not... it's been done before, look at DC doing stuff like Young Justice (skews older) and Teen Titans GO! (skews younger) around the same time.

Until then, at least there's the IDW comics.

A new more kid friendly TMNT show (2D animation) is coming in 2018 named Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It's already been in the works for a while; they basically cancelled this show to work on that instead. Not a lot is known about the new show yet, but given the name of the show and the younger age range they are trying to target, I think we can expect the turtles to behave younger and not portray some of the story threads we saw in the 2012 show such as Donny's constant lusting after April, the love triangle between Casey/April/Don or other romantic subplots aka stuff that kids really don't care about and in fact is likely to be offputting to them.

Besides some episodes not being that good here and there I actually enjoyed this show quite a bit. It grew on me later on and had many great episodes. And this is a good way to end it as it didn't feel too short or too long, pretty much just right. Overall, it's a well made show that's one of the better animated shows on Nick.

Had no idea about the show at all. Thanks for the information. I'll try to keep an eye out for it and give it a shot. I wonder how much they will tone down the show. There's a chance I'll end up dropping it but I'd like to see it and give it a shot.

I had assumed they were just naturally done with this series and didn't have more ideas. Had no idea they were just switching to something new.

This looks fun.
I hope the team that did TMNT will get to do something original. Great talent there. It really shows during the first 2 seasons.

I think it shows throughout the whole series. Sure, the beginnings of Season 3 and 4 are a bit of a drag but there's so much this show does from TMNT lore spread across all mediums that is incredible. It builds off of pretty much everything and ends up with its own unique identity.

Season 2 was the peak in the series. After the first 3ish episodes nearly every episode is fantastic. The season 2 finale is probably my favorite episode(s) in the series. I'm probably slightly biased as those were the first two episodes of the series I watched and they got me hooked.

Season 1 started decent but it had a lot of up and downs. Shredders first confrontation with the turtles was fantastic and everything with human Bradford and Xever was pretty good. A lot of the later villain of the week episodes (except the Rat King) in season 1 were meh and every episode with Timothy (2 in season 1 and one early in season 2) was bad. Season 2 starts slow but it picks up fast and every episode from about 4 to the midseason finale is great. This was the most consistent stretch in the series. The Karai plot is handled really well throughout the season. 2nd half of season two has a couple mixed (and 1 bad) episode(s) but there's a lot of quality ones as well.

I actually really enjoyed the beginning of season 3 but I didn't follow the series weekly until the forest episodes were almost done, so that probably skews my opinion on them. The quality stays pretty good up through the season finale. After that though is probably the worst stretch in the series. There's a few good episodes in the 2nd half of season 3, but many of them aren't. I also hated how sudden the Triceraton's plot happened. Season 1 you knew was ending in a Kraang invasion and season 2 kept hinting that another one was coming. With season 3 there was 0 hint of how the season was going to end until the episode before the 2 part finale. This leads into season 4 but I didn't like how there was little consequence with how this season ended.

I'm very mixed on the first half of season 4. The Triceraton plot and episodes were fine but I wasn't a big fan of Dregg. The season 4 midseason finale was the weakest in the series but it mainly a retread of season 3's finale. Shredder turning to mutagen to become stronger was fine but Splinter crippling him to that point felt kind of weak. Quality here again is up and down but it's generally better than the second half of season 3. The backend of season 4 got really dark and helped it stand out. I didn't think the final Shredder fight was that great but everything leading up to it was.

Season 5 isn't over yet and I've missed a few episodes so I won't really comment on it but it's been pretty good throughout so far.

I missed the beginning of the special but it was pretty good. Ending was kind of obvious but still decent. The next arc will be monster/vampire themed and I think briefly showed the time traveling girl (forgot her name).

It aired? I don't have it on my DVR. Guess I missed it

I think Jason Biggs was the better Leonardo.

I'm catching up on the show now. I'm on season 3.

The show isn't all the way over yet, but which one do you guys think is overall better? The 2003 or 2012 version of TMNT?

I think I still haven't seen a little bit of the 2003 series but 2012 all the way. First half of season one and nearly all of season two are better than anything from 2003. Seasons 3 and 4 are more iffy but the current season has been good and the highs of the first two beat out 2003.
