TEKKEN 7 Season Pass 3 Reveal Trailer | PS4, XB1, PC

Season 3 doesn't mean it will be the the final season either. Seems like Bamco is gonna try and milk this entry even more in the future.

Is this what fighting games are now? Buy the game for 60 bucks and pay for every fighter afterwards too?

Nah, I bought SF IV AE and that came with everything. Even fucking DOA 5 had an updated edition that came with all the previous characters. Been waiting on that for DBZF and Tekken 7 but I guess it ain't gonna happen.

SF4 had 3 revisions (4 in the arcade) that is just as bad as season pass shit
DOA5 didn't come with everything. They sold you costumes with season passes and individually.
Previous GG didn't have season passes either. They just sold you new games altogether that cost more than season passes.
SF5 still has season passes after getting an arcade mode.

The FGC ruined fighting games, prove me wrong.

Like Street Fighter V, expect Tekken 7 to be milked with "Season Pass" crap for at least the next two years. There's no real push to do a new game until Gen9 is underway, and enticing consumers with cheap base games filled with DLC seems to be an effective strategy.

If you're an idiot and didn't know this wasn't gonna happen.

Which version? I'm just talking about the characters though. FUCK THE SEXY COSTUMES!!

Soo like SF has done since before I was born and GG seems to always have done?

SF5 still has season passes after getting an arcade mode.
To the surprise of absolutely nobody.

You are complaining about season passes (yes they are shit) yet you know it was worse before with all the re-re-re-releases.

After a certain point we knew there was gonna be re-releases. Now you literally have no fucking option other than buying all this season pass bullshit. I got SF4 IV AE for like 20 bucks. All those games go on sale. Now my option for Tekken 7 and DBZF is to buy everything at full price. Except the base game but who cares.

You have the option of not buying it at all.

Funnily enough they get their games (and DLC) for free from the developers. The only ones the genre was ruined for was its actual customers.

Fighting games are apparently the most expensive games to develop as there is literally no way to turn a profit on them without charging people less than 5 times for 1 game.

It was far worse as that approach splits the online player base which is bad for fighters as they already have much smaller bases than things like shooters.

I have no qualms with fighting games getting season passes to keep adding characters and no sequel until next gen.

Plus look how many fighters we end up with vs the old days. SF2 was full price and had 8 playable characters. Then Turbo was also full price and made the 4 bosses playable, then Super was full price and added four more for a final total of 16.

Today's approach with season passes is much better value given the number of fighters we end up with and not splitting the online player base with separate versions. There's some scummy shit in some of them with things like stages not included in SF5 passes etc, but for adding fighters and building a larger roster it's far better than the last of the genre IMO.

Tekken might have a leg to stand on since it didn't have the anemic number of characters SF5 had when it launched. Can't say I agree for the rest of them.

We live in an age where people pay $5 for a shirt for a character to wear in Fortnight or Pub G or pay $20 for a dragon to ride in wow or some outfit in Final Fantasy XIV some shit but we still have people being bitches because optional full characters become available for people to buy if they want.
You do not have to buy them, if you want to buy them and are cheap wait until one of the thousand times a year that they go on sale. The base games give a ton of content, everything else is bonus. Nobody forces you to buy them if you do not want them. Street Fighter V even lets you earn them in game with points. Tekken you can earn a shit ton of cosmetics just with points which are easy as hell to get.

Wow sorry Mr. Capco. God forbid anybody would you know actually want to play the entire game. Not all of us are fucking retards that buy t-shirts for their little fornite guys at 5 bucks a piece. More DLC please big companies. I want to pay over $100 bucks for the complete fighting game experience.

Only a dumbass would say they do not have the full game. Expansions are a fact in gaming whether it comes from shiny new guns and outfits, new cars, new levels or cities, or new characters to fight with. It keeps games fresh or would you rather once a game gets released devs just move on and say "fuck it"? If you do not want the DLC wait for the next release where it is all included.
DLC is part of gaming, and it does not affect your ability to play a game at all if you do not want to buy it. Has nothing to do with getting the full fighting game experience because if you are not getting that from the base game than no amount of dlc characters will change that.

Ok I'll go play Tekken 6 or something with all the characters and not have to pay 7 bucks for each one I want.

Yeah. Maybe we'd have GTA VI now instead of a bunch of retarded online shit for kids.

Been 4 years now. Where's my Tekken 7 complete edition?

Idk about everybody else but in fighting games I usually like to try out characters and see which ones I like the best. It's not like I can rent a character I have to actually pay for it.

As for Tekken 6, Bloodline Rebellion was technically DLC but sold as a totally new release.
As for complete releases I am hoping they save that until after PS5 so I only have to buy them once.

The last point is spot on and I even remember a time when I thought you could play the Street Fighter DLC characters in training mode for free so that you could get the feel for them but I guess they do not do that anymore. Would be nice to be able to take DLC characters and kick the tires even if only in training against bots.

damn brap get in that ass

it would be kinda nice if seasonal updates were free tho, i think more people would actually buy into the game and things would level out for the better

TBH, i am all in for season passes, i can keep playing the game with all the updated moves and stuff without spending a dime since launch and if i want the full roaster i have to spend like 20 bucks per season? that's way better than buying the extend version of the game to keep playing ot buying a "new" game every 2 years like in Arc System games.

Also, Tekken 7 launch roaster was pretty damn big, not tekken tag big wich is understandable, but pretty big.

Edit: fixed a double quote, lol

Except these updates do cost dev time and money to make, and by the time you start hitting season 2 and season 3 the core game itself is usually dirt cheap and this is what continues to bring in the money that is then put toward tournament pots and events.
You can get Street fighter Arcade for like $20 in many places and I think it is actually free in some ways. Tekken 7 and SoulCalibur you can also get for around $20 these days and the season passes and dlc characters go on sale constantly. I will say that SNK nailed it though when they gave the Samurai Shodown Season Pass for free if you pre-ordered and are also giving Shizumaru as a free dlc character just because.

If season passes were only $20 I might agree with you. Most of them are $40 at release now.

yeah 40 is like buying a new release, although if you look at the whole package it kinda is. I mean, if you take into consideration everything new that comes with the season (balances and new moves) in Tekken at least, difference being that if you don't have or don't want to expend the money you can't keep playing with everyone else. And that's a good deal in my book because fragmenting the player base in fighting games might be the death of them considering how quickly they already can die.

Yes and wait until next generation. You ain't seen nothing yet.
Vs. mode is gonna cost extra.

I'm done with fighting games till they cut the microtransaction bullshit.
Technically they had it years ago. You just keep buying new games at full price instead of buying DLC. With fighting games, I see the least changes with microtransactions than with other games.

Basically, you were always forced to buy the latest version of a fighting game to stay competitive. Even if it means buying the same game multiple times every time they added "Turbo", Championship Edition", or whatever else at the end of the name.

In general i don't like DLC, but I would say DLC is an improvement compared to what fighting games were before.

I find it hilarious that alot of fgc peeps seem to love this type of shit i stead of unlocking actual fighters.

Rewarding capcom and namco for this behaviour UGH

They lost me at Tekken Bowl, and the subsequent DLC seasons have done nothing to bring me back.

Good fighting game at its core though.

There's nothing to unlock when these characters are being made years after the game is released. Not only that, you're more than likely going to have companies such as AMC (Negan) and Square (Noctis) who want a share of the money, too.

People want all the fighters to make it in from the beginning, but the budget doesn't always allow it.

Fighting games are dead for me, unless it's MK or NetherRealm games but even those started to implements some shady and greedy shit so I think sooner, rather than later, they'll be in my blacklist too cuz WB sure as shit won't stop at what they're doing now.

0.

We're angry at season passes now?

If the base roster is substantial in the first place there's really nothing to be upset about.

I'd love it if all my favorite games were supported years after release with new content.

I think I do prefer getting a base game that is updated over the course of its life vs buying brand new products every few years for balance updates, new characters, mechanics, etc. They just need to price it properly and provide good value.

I spent $35 for SFVAE brand new, and just spent $20 for the new character bundle. I'm still under the price of a full game, and it's had years of balance updates and new content added. Really it's not any worse than the old model to me.

This is what we should be talking about in this thread. If its real im buying all 3 season passes.
Please do not, i repeat NOT buy the first one! Tekken Bowl is such a goddamn rip off, it isn't even funny!

This is just a "joke" made by evo without any communication with Konami or Hayter.
Thanks for the clarification, was seriously shocked.

Yeah, it is TOTALLY cool to have a fighting game, where you can use about 2/3ds of all present characters, totally not fucking annoying... as long as your favourite character is in the base roster AND you would never want to play the FULL game.

So you prefer to buy the same game 3 times and fragment the player base?
