Television shows that made you cry

I searched and found nothing, but some of the responses in the movie thread made me want to see what pieces of television greatly affected you emotionally. You may say what specifically caused you to cry, but please spoiler-tag if necessary.

For me it was Six Feet Under and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica. The SFU finale is obvious, but there were some other episodes as well. The one episode of BSG that stands out the most is "Maelstrom" from season three.
Kara saying goodbye to her mother, and then finally accepting death when her viper explodes always gets me, and the ending when Adama breaks down
.

came in here to say this. the last episode did it to me. I actually cried at three separate points during the finale, LoL.
I think it was when 1) Adama and Kara did the "what do you hear?" routine shortly before she disappeared, 2) when Roslin finally died, and 3) I don't remember what the third was, but I know there was a third time.
I really need to watch that episode again. DVD set comes out at the end of this month!

BTW, no other TV show has ever made me cry and only one movie. (Dead Man Walking, it was in the middle of class, I was so embarrassed :lol) And Toy Story 2 came close to making me cry.

We had this thread not too long ago. Oh well, I'll repost what I had in the other thread:

Just misty eyed, no tears:

Office UK Christmas Special when
Dawn opens her gift from Tim.
It's a little bit cliched but that just did it for me.

Star Trek TNG:
Inner Light. Patrick Stewart's finest performance. This is how you use science fiction to tell a heartbreaking and meaningful character story.

Star Trek DS9: The Visitor. Dad/Son stuff is heartbreaking.

Due South: Victoria's Secret 1 & 2. The ending is something else with
Ray shooting Fraser and him dying on the train station reciting his poem to Victoria
. I kind of wished they ended the series there.

Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Desert. This is the episode that sold me on the series.
Aang loses his last link to his people, his home, his everything. He violates his one cardinal rule as a monk to never take a life. He finds the perpetrators, loses control of his powers and wants them to pay. Scary music ensues. Everyone flees. Katara stays. Already past her breaking point after getting the group through the worst situation they've ever been in through sheer will, she grabs Aang into a fierce hug. Solo Female choir voice breaks through the music. Tears stream from both of their faces. And she brings him back from the dark side.

Futurama: Luck of the Fryish still holds up, since Jurassic Bark got screwed over by the movie. That last bit on the plague gets me every time.

The Wire:

Season 1:
Wallace. Bodie shoots him and you can hear the gasping from Wallace, then Poot finishes the job.

Season 2:
Scene between Beadie and Frank, after asking him to come clean. Also the episode fading out with Frank walking to meet the Greek.

Season 3:
Scene on the balcony with Avon and Stringer. You know what was going to come down after that.

Season 4: Umm.. the whole season? :lol
Carver pounding on his car after being unable to help Randy.
The fall of Bodie standing and fighting.
Bubs losing Sherrod and trying to kill himself.
Damn. That last one was brutal.

Season 5:
Prezbo and Dukie last's meeting. And then Dukie and Michael.

The ending to Futurama always gets to me. The Devils Hands Are Idle Playthings ends so beautifully to me. The way that saxophone thing sounds and the crappy drawings of Fry and Leela holding hands and walking away together is just too awesome. :)

Buffy - The Body.
Angel - A Hole in the World.
Futurama - Jurassic Bark. (The cat I'd had for 21 years had died just 2 days before watching this episode)
Six Feet Under - Final Montage.

I forgot Band of Brothers. Bastogne was the worst. ;_;

So much in Band of Brothers made me cry. I don't know if I could watch it again to be honest. And when I say cry, I mean uncontrollably.

The futurama and scrubs stuff has already been mentioned.

But maybe I am a weirdo, but I am a huge MASH fan. A couple episodes got to me. Off the top of my head, the one where Hawkeye yells at Radar to grow up and when Bake dies get to me.

Don't you,

forget about me.

;_;

And, of course, Jurassic Bark.

iz4ux0.jpg

Also gets me every time. Homer + Maggie episodes pull on the emotion strings so hard due to how often the show plays off Homer forgetting about Maggie. Then they go and pull shit like this.

Baw thread is baw.

Only two I can think of:

- That Pokemon episode where Pikachu leaves Ash. What's even crazier is that I recall going to school the day it aired and so many kids were talking about it, almost or already in tears. Amazing how much of an impact that franchise had back then.

- Quantum Leap...
Sam never returns home.
T____T

Yeah I think we had this thread already and I'm sure I already posted this but who cares (postcount +1 yay).

Obviously Six Feet Under, the last 5 or so episodes of the last season had me teary eyed all the way through.

And also the episode of South Park where Kenny dies and Stan can't bring himself to visit him in the hospital had me crying like a little schoolgirl. I was not expecting this.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Season 5: "The Body"
  • Season 5: "The Gift"
Futurama
  • Season 4: "Jurassic Bark"

I don't remember if The Prom or Becoming Part 2 did it, but if they didn't they came damn close.

Nobody cried at the end of Arrested Development? Sheesh. Stone-hearted, all of you!!

Fine. For the Simpsons fans, how about "Lisa On Ice?" I have a younger sister and that one always gets to me just a little.

I have a younger sister too, but the episode never gets me to the point of crying. The rest of it is so damn hilarious that it'd take a lot more than a touching montage to bring me to that level.

Mr. Honeybunny :lol

The Simpson's episode where Maggie speaks her first word at the end really caught me by surprise.

And then there was the other Simpsons episode.. "And Maggie Makes Three." The message on the plaque got to me.

(.. Damn, I'd love to have a daughter.)

As far as older television goes, SOAP had a lot of great tear-stirring moments. Many cast members of that show were able to go from hilarious to dramatic with no problem whatsoever. (Jessica Tate banishes the demon from her daughter's infant, the funeral of Elaine, Jody at the altar, etc)

Oh, totally, same with me. I'm just sort of awed at how quick they get to me on that. I never cry, I just get instantly sentimental. It's really good.

never cried from any show but this got me very close

This never really got to me because before it aired I saw a similar episode of Taxi where Judd Hirsch had a dog that died, I was so torn up at that that seeing this afterwards had little effect.

Battlestar Galactica

Maelstrom, Season 3 -
Lee's scream as Kara's ship explodes, the score that follows and Adama trashing the place

A Disquiet Follows My Soul, Season 4 -
This didn't really cause tears but I was shell-shocked quite badly... Dualla shoots herself

Daybreak Part II, Season 4 -
*after a flashback to Apollo and Starbuck discussing fear, and Kara saying she's more afraid of being forgotten than dying -- she disappears*
Apollo: "Goodbye Kara. You won't be forgotten"

Earlier in the series we discovered that Baltar was ashamed of his farmboy heritage, and in Daybreak Part I we see the shame first hand in the way he treats his father. Now they are on Earth there's a moment of realisation where he realises that upbringing is what will help him build his future for his family...
Gaius Baltar: "I spotted some terrain that looked good for cultivation"
Caprica Six: "Cultivation?"
Gaius Baltar: "You know..."
his voice breaks
Gaius Baltar: "I know about farming"
*he hides his face in his hand as emotion breaks through*

*Adama meets Apollo and Starbuck as they approach the Raptor.*
Lee / Apollo: "Dad?"
Adama: "I don't have much time son"
Lee: "I understand"
Adama: "What do you hear Starbuck?"
Starbuck: "Nothing but the rain"
Adama: "Grab your gun and bring in the cat"
(harkens right back to the first episode)

*Adama and Roslin flying over Earth's wildlife in a Raptor... Roslin utters her last words*
Roslin: "So much... life"

*Adama at her grave*
Adama: "You should see the light that we get here. When the sun comes up from behind those mountains. Its almost heavenly... it reminds me of you"

BEST FUCKING TV SHOW EVER MADE

Hmm.

LOST a bunch of times.

FNL even more. I'm liable to break down all the time.

BSG got my eyes teary a couple of times.

A couple more too.

I forgot the season four finale of House. I think it was "Wilson's Heart".

I originally read this as "season four of Full House."

The worst part about the Jurassic Bark episode of Futurama is all you assholes who keep posting that damned horrible GIF.

Screw you guys.

It's my own fault for seeing threads that I know it will be in and coming in anyway.

Man you guys cry or nearly cry a whole lot...

Six feet under is the only show to truly make me cry. Nothing will ever come close to that.

The Wire Season 5 -
Bubbles' speech at NA.. particularly when he starts to talk about Sherrod. I got a little misty.

Only one that comes to mind. I'm sure there have been others.

Meh, only
farmer Baltar
was unexpected and thereby tear worthy.

I though Roslin
dying 2 second before the end credits was rather lame, TBH. Maybe it's because, oh I don't know, she had terminal cancer all the fucking time.

The last 3 episodes of Veronica Mars S1 were all tear jerkers.

"Veronica, I am, without a doubt, your father" *tear*

Remember, you're on a board where people admit to "bawling" multiple times during Metal Gear Solid games.

The end of scrubs got me, i didnt think it would but it did. it was the video at the end that got me. ahhhh i get sad just thinking about it.

friday night lights got me aswell - the son (you know what it is if you have seen it) i lost it when matt was at the dinner table...shit man :(

Six Feet Under for sure. Last summer I watched all 5 seasons in 5 days, and it was the only show to ever make me cry. Futurama got real close with Jurassic Bark and The Luck of Fryish.
