I'm 26, and as of March 5th of this year I run a non-profit art project that I created called You Are the Hero (or 'YATH' for short), where I draw kids with chronic and/or life-threatening illnesses as superheroes. I'm in the middle of establishing it as an official LLC while getting a crash-course in starting a business in the process. It's a whirlwind, but I'm excited about it's potential to grow. I share the stories of a lot of the kids on the YATH Facebook page, they're heartbreaking and inspiring all at the same time.

I graduated from college two years ago and have been unemployed since (thank you, Fine Arts degree). I've managed to barely keep myself afloat through freelance projects here and there. But two months ago I shared the idea for You Are the Hero with a relative and they told me,"Why aren't you just doing that now?". A fair enough point, so over the course of two weeks I made the website, drew up some example illustrations and then began to spread the word through social media. This became my full-time job in a matter of about 24 hours after the website went live. The last two months have been absolutely nuts, I've gotten enough submissions to keep me busy for the foreseeable future.

The challenge going forward will be to find sponsors/donors and the like so I can afford do this for a living, because this is simply the most fulfilling thing I've ever done as an artist - I absolutely love it.

I'm 25, was a DJ until I quit a few weeks back, and now I am working on some other entertainment related things. I've basically won the award for most posts in a year but nobody noticed. My goal in life is to be the Great Value version of Ryan Seacrest.

Edit: Timeaisis and Terrisus noticed though.

I appreciate it =)

I used to talk a whole bunch about my life on here...
But, people are kind of sick of hearing about it, so I've toned back a whole bunch...

So I've heard. I've never actually got that from you, lol.

I hope you're doing ok, I mean I don't wanna pry... I just hope you're fine.

Could be worse, given the circumstances.

But, you know, when doctors are giving you yearly odds of having another stroke, and possibly being paralyzed, in a coma, or dead... things kind of suck >.>

that's pretty... oh...

What do you do most days? If it's work, what do you do in your job? If school, what do you study? What do you do for fun? How much time do you spend around people/alone? Do you like where you are now? what do you work towards? What keeps you going?
Work from 6-430 most days. I'm a press operator (or officially the title is "cell tech fastener" or some stupid bullshit), basically I press a few buttons (and also setup the machine) on a machine from Japan and make tiny parts and they are shipped to companies like Ford to be used in cars. I do a lot of standing around and nothing.
Outside of work it's either spending time with the girl I have been seeing or posting on GAF, not many outdoors activities.
Hobbies should be easy, video games, movies, TV, and sometimes I write. I don't get much alone time anymore.
Where I am right now I'm content with considering my average paycheck is $590 a week and I'm only 18 so I'm doing alright
I'm working towards going to a film school that's out over here, so mostly saving up money.

Hi. I'm Christoph. I'm 34 and married. I have two cats, Fatass and Kevin; and two dogs, Finlay and Dude.

For work I manage a 150-ish person computer helpdesk. I'm at work now and at least one of them knows my GAF handle. I guess I shouldn't have made it my real name. I only check GAF between meetings, honest.

I like video games new and old. Started on Intellivision. Mainly play on PC now. I collect Masters of the Universe and Amiibo (I'm limited myself to the Mario and Zelda ones.)

I'm lazy as hell and would much rather spend time alone at home than go to any sort of social event. Every other weekend or so I get dragged kicking and screaming to something involving my inlaws.

Gotta run, time for a meeting.

My point is never give up. Life isn't a rat race. I was behind a lot of people in terms of credentials aged 16-19, but I built myself back up. Go at your own pace and more importantly do it (whatever 'it' is) for yourself. Not others. Listen to other peoples constructive advice, but not advice on how you should live. Avoid conflict, stay calm. Drink water.

Kevin is a great name for a cat.

I'm 27. I work 4 hours a day. 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening as a school bus attendant.

I live at home with my parents. I spend most of my time in my room by myself. I like to play video games and watch anime. Posting on GAF is fun too. :p

I don't have any goals or ambitions. I'm very happy with how my life is now and don't see it changing.

Wow! Really cool story.

Your parents are happy with their 27 year old kid living with them and not thinking about moving? Jesus that's extremely chill parents

36 (going to be 37 this year). Married 1 year (Cause its legal in my state now). Been with my husband for 8+ years. I'm a Billing Manager at a tech co. (Nothing cool - Also, No Degree, worked my way up from Call Center). In the evenings I watch some TV usually play some PS4 and we go out of town as much as possible to hang with our friends. We're heading to Portland and Seattle in June to Scout as a possible place to move. 2 dogs, loving life currently.

I'm 25, I work 24 hours a week doing catering in my local lesuire centre. When not working, I study full time at college and have a place secured to go straight into second year at Uni in September provided I get a B. My final exam is on Friday and I am getting a bit nervy.

Other than that, I live with my partner of nearly 6 years and have a 16 month old son who is just the best. I can't descibe how much I've changed after becoming a parent. Much more focused and confident. Barely recognise myself. I spend most evenings either taking my son to the park (weather permitting) or playing hide and seek. Over and over and over again. When I do get time to myself I often think about how much I'd like to be playing games and go to bed before actually playing any games.

I don't make a mountatin of money, have barely any free time but life is fucking great and I couldn't really be happier.

I'm a shell of my former self and the most exciting thing I do is browse the internet.

Hey there OP.

Starting with the basics, I'm a 32 year old guy living in Upstate NY, just outside of Syracuse. I'll be married for 5 years this July, and my wife and I have a 13 month old daughter and two beagles, Cody and Gracie. I work as a Senior Process Analyst for a telecommunications company, although my actual job responsibilities are closer to that of a Project Manager. For fun I love playing video games, being outdoors and fly fishing, but as a (fairly) new parent, I'm finding less time to do the things I enjoy, at least for the time being. Although I work with many people on a regular basis, I really don't have any friends outside of work, except for my wife. Although I do like where I am now, living a comfortable life with a nice house and everything my family and I need, I wish I had more time away from work to actually enjoy life.

As far as what I work towards and what keeps me going, I'd have to say my family, and trying to enjoy the time I have. Admittedly, the last year of becoming a first time parent while juggling a full time job and other responsibilities was particularly difficult, but I'm learning to deal with the added workload. I keep telling myself that while I know it's pretty tough now, before too long my little one will be old enough to share in our interests (or have her own), and I really look forward to that. Well, that and not having to change diapers. And maybe get some sleep occasionally. That'll be sweet.

Additional random facts: Despite being a native of Upstate NY, I lived in the Carolinas for 7 years, and still eventually came back to the cold weather of NY. I'm an ex-college hockey player, damn good cook (I do cook my own dinners), and really like trout fishing.

Here sits a 28 year old who's had a mostly uneventful life.

I don't know how to ride a bicycle and can barely swim. (I can only doggy paddle.)

You know that bit in old comedies where a person would be standing in front of partially built house, and the front of the house would fall but the person wouldn't be crushed because they were standing EXACTLY where the open window was? Yeah, that happened to me when I was a kid with a huge piece of furniture.

I've also almost died by nearly falling off a cliff but survived due to grabbing onto a conveniently placed tree.

My dear pet cat is a whopping 17 years old.

My job's about as dead-end as they can get. Currently seeking other employment.

I drink apple cider vinegar every day. Mixed with water, honey and
Metamucil
, of course.

32, just moved with fiance over the weekend to a new place, work a strenuous day job and have two "night jobs".

The night jobs are purely hobbies in that one is writing for an entertainment website and the other is performing for people (they net some nice money on the side, but neither are really needed for me to live aside from enjoying both of them). I'm trying to turn the website one into my job job, as the performance one is nigh impossible to make a living at, where I live anyway.

I have been working myself to the bone these past few months. I have a huge project at work that finishes up in two weeks and over extended myself in both hobbies at the same time. I don't know how I'm going to ramp back down to not having 16 hour work days.

My name is RP912 and I'm an Aries.

I'm 30, currently a full time college student trying to pursue a bachelors in Networking and Operations. I enjoy playing the PC of video games with some handheld gaming in spur of the moments. I like my professional wrestling strong style, my favorite wrestler at the moment is the guy in my avatar. My favorite musical artists are Kendrick Lamar and MF Grimm. I enjoy Mexican and Asian cuisines. I like long walks across the beach and writing poetry that's so deep.

If you don't mind sharing, care to elaborate? I'll admit I'm curious.

Recently turned 27 a few weeks ago. No job currently, graduated literally a year ago now while looking off and on. Applied to my dream job post college, got interviewed, got a position called "alternate" meaning I am on a list of substitutes for when the people they accepted decline, screw up, or lose their shit a day after being there and realize they are worthless without mom and dad. So basically waiting for almost 6+ more months to see if I get called for that. Been a long time nonprofit helper and community work person, but that does not pay for anything and apparently jobs do no like people who do this type of thing either. Starting to get to me that for all the work I do for no money most jobs consider it "useless" while they donate to me to make themselves look good lol. Oh well, still striving to be an English teacher abroad for a few years as a current short term goal but like I said in the waiting game at the moment. -hope I make it-

Did the whole party/running around thing my last year or so of high school so was over it at an early age. Never did anything illegal, never needed to, to have fun. Took 2 years off college before finishing because I had no idea what I wanted to do, found a goal, finished with good grades and no depression.

Other than that I like Korean and Japanese media, music, movies and what not. Making random attempts at learning them but there are none of those people around here and I'm a hands on person. Mostly just picking things up best I can from books at this point. Enjoy old PS1 RPGs, Green Lantern comics, and vegetables. Also talking about other cultures, learning about them and telling other people.

Personal goal outside teaching abroad is learning Korean cooking.... actually just cooking in general. Don't even know how to use my oven.

Hi, I'm Batty. And I have an addiction.

-----------------------------------

Seriously though, right now I'm currently down from not having a lover in my life. GAF Tells me I'm attractive, but it doesn't seem like it in the real world! D:

If you don't mind sharing, care to elaborate? I'll admit I'm curious.

I do standup comedy. I've done it about 8 years, but never full time.

If you want to "make it" you HAVE to move to New York or LA and put everything into it. I have friends who have done this (one got a Comedy Central Special today in fact!), but I could never take the plunge of dedicating every waking moment to it (unsustainable relationships/living in your car/doing comedy EVERY NIGHT, sometimes 6 shows in one night).

I think I would grow to hate it if I did that. I went on tour last year and had the best, and WORST, time doing it.

I'm recently 31. I work as a phone line administrator for a large credit card company. It's easy work, as most of the time I am doing other peoples work. When shit breaks, I find out what happened, and tell the people that can actually fix it. The schedule is great, and very flexible for me. Been here 7 hears, close to 8. I love it, and the only thing that can take me away...

...is my second job. But, it's not a typical second job. I play trombone in an original Funk/Soul band. This group of 7 dudes started about two years ago, and have been making tidal waves month after month. This year, we won a "Entertainment Award for Best Live Act" sponsored by the city, out of all the bands & genres in the music scene. Recently, a 4 week period had us playing about 14 shows, a mixture of private & public events. Slowly but surely, we are growing and will be going to other cities. We have one album out, a series of very poor quality youtube vids we are trying to update, some merch, and our love for what we are doing. This takes up the majority of my time outside of work. We are not at the level where I can quit my job, but we are all working on it.

When I am not doing band things, I am likely hanging out with my beautiful and wonderful girlfriend, and soon to be fiance once I can afford to set my family stones with her choice of stones. She is a lover of music also, and we escape to shows when we can. She is also a veterinary technician, helping all the many lives of those who cannot help themselves, and her work warms my heart, like many other areas similar to that profession that do untold amounts of work, with little to no recognition. She is my rock :D

I try to live my life in a way that is least cumbersome. I try to not dwell on mistakes, and negativity, and try to look at everything with a positive spin. I try to find enjoyment in whatever I am doing. I try to help others when I can, and to be courteous to all, because it is the right thing to do. I see no reason to be rude and mean to those that do not deserve it, because that solves nothing, aside from irritate parties involved. Edit - I play videogames when /where I can. My band/gf takes almost all my time, but happily my Monster Hunter, my Evolve, and my GTA will always be ready and waiting for me when I have the time. I also am the crew leader for the Gaf GTA PS3/4 Crew.

As silly as it is, I love to live by life by two radical movie quotes -

"Life is a garden, dig it."

"Be excellent to each other."

I'm sorry If this is a really serious topic.

But I couldn't help but laugh from reading this, as I looked at your avatar. Plus your username goes with it as well. xD
Lol, I was singing amazing grace in my head when I wrote that. Wasn't being too sentimental. I just used to be a real lose cannon getting into all sorts of trouble then changed my life around. Now I live in the country on a farm and am as happy as a pig in shit.

33, manage a gaming store and liking it okay, but honestly I could do without the human element, I'm fairly introverted. Working in retail has prevented me from becoming a total shut-in, but if we're being honest here, I'd prefer it that way.

I see work as a means to do the stuff I wanna do, which pretty much boils down to playing videogames all day. Even at 33, the hobby has its grip on me like nothing else. I don't play MMO's or any online games, just single player games. If I ever save enough money I'd very much like to work part-time (or not at all obviously, but let's stay at least a little bit realistic here) for the rest of my days.

I live a very uneventful life, but I prefer it that way. I'm not interested in relationships, but on the other hand I am open to them even if I've never been in one. We'll see what happens I guess.

I bought a house a while ago and I'm gonna be moving in very shortly, so that's kind of a big new step for me and I'm interested in seeing what's gonna happen to my own personal outlook on things.

Many people may find this all to be very boring, but I can honestly say I'm quite happy. I have lovely parents, my brother has 2 wonderful kids whom I'd do anything for. Haven't really had to deal with anything huge in my life except maybe my aunt dying within a year of her getting cancer at age 40-something, leaving two young kids and a husband. That had an obviously profound effect on my mom especially.

Still though, there's really very little to complain about, I have it pretty good and that's just fine in my book. There's things in my life that I should really experience before I get too old, but hey even if I don't, I think I'll be just fine, I'm a pretty grounded person and I'd like to think I can deal with most stuff that comes my way.

I'm hung like a donkey
Hava a cat called Wilma
Bags of swag
Once covered myself in salad cream and streaked through University
Not drank alcohol in 7 yrs
I own a bone
Just ate a box of milkduds
Once worked as a caretaker at an all girls school and masterbated in the toilets
Size 9 feet

I've got lots more to tell.

Since it is actually on-topic for this topic, I'll give a brief overview.

Started dating the person I would end up marrying at 19
Finished my Bachelor's in Mathematics at 24
Got married at 25
Finished my Master's in Education at 26
Started a PhD at 27
Had cancer at 28
Had a stroke at 30
Dropped out of my PhD program at 31
Started a 2nd Master's at 32
And here I am at 32, posting on NeoGAF

Why did you dropped out of your phd ? Health reasons ?

I'm 29 and graduated with a bachelor's in information systems in 2013 after being in college for about 9 years. During that time, I've changed majors multiple times: graphic design, biology, and physics before sticking with IS.

I had to pay for community college out of pocket while working part-time, so it took me 4 years to get my associates degree. I wasn't able to start up a 4-year university right away since I had no means to afford it; no credit to get a loan, and no family with good enough credit to co-sign for a loan, so I had to wait until I was 24 and able to be approved by FAFSA. Got into a STEM school in my state and graduated in about 3 years with a good job offer waiting for me.

Since then, I have relocated for the job and am a systems engineer in Northern Virginia working for a contractor to the federal government.
