Come on OP. Even the article says that it is a placeholder.

Or that's just what they want us to think!

There won't even be an official EU price. Ever since Nintendo got a slap on the wrist for price fixing, they've just let retailers set their own prices. There will be a bit of give and take where different retailers charge the most they think they can get away with, and prices will fluctuate as they drop prices to be competitive.

Same way it's played out with the last few hardware releases.

So... if they're putting up a placeholder, does that suggest they anticipate a reveal soon enough? Or is it common practice to put up placeholders for products not fully announced yet?

It's the suggestion/assumption that a listing means an official announcement/release date is coming soon that's important. The price is obviously a placeholder and not what should be focused on.

wow. this just confirms that nintendo is literally out of touch and are "nintendoomed" before they even begin. no one is going to buy this at that price, not when the nes mini is available for MUCH cheaper. quite telling that they are already attempting to make the switch to mobile.

lol

I kind of think that the price could be that high if it is a handheld/console hybrid thats means system not only has the additional cost of the screen and battery standard consoles don't but also if it is meant to be reasonable powerful then they need to buy the mobile versions of those chips that are more expensive. It would actaully reduce my intrest in it if too much cheaper as would mean something has been compirmised screen/battery/power and not sure it would appear to me then. Vita launched at £229 & £279 (3g model).

That said i am not probably average target market and would unless they really sell people on the concept probably would be a sales disaster Nintendo tend to sqew younger not sure many parents will want to spend that kind of money on something that can be lost so easily and is just for playing games. We will see seems odd placeholder, probably just what did the ps4 launch for put that in.

I've said it once and I'll say it again - I'm not saying it's a controlled leak, but the exact month gap between those info drops does raise suspicions about the dripfeed we're getting.
Eurogamer has been completely quiet since July. LPVG has been completely quiet. It really feels like it's a controlled leak by Nintendo.
