I'm interested to try this tech, never really got interested in vr as it looks uncomfortable to me, but just a pair of glasses looks doable for me. What would be the best option for playing steamdeck or gfn. Should I wait on what's coming out this year?
Had a pair a while back and liked the tech, but the image stabilization wasn't in these. I'm not sure if they are now in all the modern ones, but that was the only real complaint I had for the time. I'm sure it's gotten better now but not sure what's the best to get now for portable gaming. Deck / Switch2 / Logitech G Cloud
Xreal and Viture are best bet. Xreal I think just released their new pair for $450 which is pretty good for what they offer. They do have screen anchoring right on a chip in glasses so no need for extra hardware for that (3DOF built in).
Wish there was a way to try one of these before buying. I don't see much retailers in Canada are carrying these that you can buy in store. Seems Amazon has these priced at $750. I'm not sure why when $450 equals to $615. I guess the stupid tarrifs are affecting the price. So since I made this thread I ended up getting the Xreal One Pro. That's the one with 57 degree of view, but it's $700. After using the Rokid Max 2 I fell in love with the the tech. So I could justify the buy, but for someone jumping in I'd recommend the Xreal One S. Xreal revealed these in January of this year at CES. They have 52 fov, 1200p resolution, and are only $450. They're just like the Pros but just a lower fov and better resolution.
Xreal has this 3D feature where AI can make 2D things 3D on the fly. It doesnt work well with games imo but it's definitely usable for pictures and sometimes movies.
If you can spend $100 more there's the Viture Beast and those have a 58fov and the same 1200p resolution as well. They had a rough launch but sounds like things are being ironed out.
Yeah the Rokid Max 2 relies on an external puck for image stabilization. So Rokid at this point is just the budget entry option. I don't think Rokid is taking these display glasses seriously anymore they're more into AI glasses now. The main players now are Viture and Xreal. Xreal has the Xreal One S and Virute has the Beast. Both have image stabilization built in and can display native 3D content.
The Xreal One S is $450 with a 52fov and 1200p resolution. It has the ability to turn 2D content into 3D with the hardware itself but it doesnt work well with games.
The Viture Beast is $550 and has a 58fov and 1200p resolution. It has a 2D to 3D feature with an app. Had a rough launch but it's getting better.
There's also the Xreal One Pro which I have. They're amazing but because they haven't dropped in price I'm not sure if they're worth it now that the Beast has similar specs for less money.
Exactly. They're the main players now.
Well, you can do what I did and just order them on Amazon. If they're not your thing they have a generous return policy if fulfilled by Amazon Prime.Wish there was a way to try one of these before buying. I was thinking about getting the viture beast or asus xreal rog r1 for my steam deck.

The ROG XREAL R1 gaming glasses let you game anywhere on a 171-inch 240Hz virtual screen
Whether you need a big-screen virtual display for on-the-go ROG Xbox Ally gaming or want an extra monitor for your battlestation that takes up no space, the ROG XREAL R1 Glasses are the solution.rog.asus.com
Not sure which is better for Deck and future steam deck 2.

Between those I'd go for the Beast as it's available now and has a better fov (bigger screen). The Asus glasses benefit is that its refresh rate is higher, but that probably wouldn't benefit you much on the Steam Decks hardware. But both would offer a similar experience and they pair amazing with the Deck. It's my favorite way to play games with my Deck. Better than my 21:9 monitor or TVs.
That's because China has been leading the way for display glasses technology and that probably isn't going to change anytime soon. Google partnered with Xreal though so their new glasses are going to be made by them. They're called the Xreal Aura and I'm sure Google will make them widely available for people in Canada.I find it strange how these devices don't have a strong presence in Canada. Amazon seems to be the only one and they attach over $100 in import fees.
Probably should wait still than. I'd like something with 1440p resolution at least in each eye for larger screens and image stabilization built in. Plus I'd like 120hz in games probably not doable right yet!?So since I made this thread I ended up getting the Xreal One Pro. That's the one with 57 degree of view, but it's $700. Not sure when we'd be getting 1440p but with this tech the resolution is not as important as you'd think. The pixel density is what matters and so at 52-58fov these displays already looks sharp. They're also all OLED as well. Them bumping the resolution to 1200p really just helps support aspect ratio of devices better like the Steam Deck which is 16:10.Probably should wait still than. That's a great price. I looked it up and those glasses have a 46fov. The image might feel small depending on where you're looking. The trick is to project the image against something far away like a wall. You'll see what I mean when you get it. 3D is a great use case.Just picked up a Viture Pro XR from Ebay (20% coupons this weekend) for around $125!! Can't wait to try it out, as it is 120hz, can play some of my 3D blu-rays and would be a great fit for everything that I have.. Switch 2, Steam Deck, gaming PC, and even perhaps a Blu-Ray player for 3D films... etc. Will report on how it is once it's received.
If anyone is looking for one, the above deal on Ebay seems like a great one. It's an older model, but it'll be new to me.
