Tetsuya Nomura Is No Longer Directing Final Fantasy XV

Will Nomura get directing credit equal to the directing credit that Tabata will get?

Most likely it will be like this

Producer - Yoshinori Kitase
Director - Hajime Tabata
Story & Concept - Tetsuya Nomura
CHARACTER DESIGN - TETSUYA NOMURA
Image Illustrator - Yoshitaka Amano

etc

etc
etc

Kitase is no longer producing FFXV, and Nomura is actually co-character designer, sharing the role with Italian artist Roberto Ferrari (I wonder if he did Cor Leonis).

Instead, they'll do a Kickstarter with some Western staff for a mobile indie game meant to "revolutionarize" the JRPG genre, and no one will care about it, just like Sakaguchi's, Matsuno's and Uematsu's current Kickstarter projects.

Yes....clearly no one cares about their projects. At all.

Shinji "please be excited" Hashimoto is the game producer. Kitase has nothing to do with it at least officially.

Anyone who has ever worked at a software company should have recognized that those were the reasons immediately. This happens to projects all the time, especially once they get past the concept phase and move into the heavy lifting/day-to-day development phase.

Instead, of course, we saw a bunch of leaps to worst-case scenarios where Nomura's toys got taken away because he's a naughty boy.

Wait you're saying it's normal for orginal creator to leave the project mid development? What a bizzaro world.

If you look at the company history everyone that was "delgated" left it.

Were most of them working on the only two high-profile projects announced for the traditional S-E lineup?

Also, my comment on "delegation" was directed at Nomura's delegation skills (i.e. his ability to not micromanage everything), not at upper management delegating tasks to Nomura. But I guess that applies, too - when you have one guy directing the two most high-profile projects in your portfolio, you damn well better make sure he's involved exactly to the level he needs to be.

I have yet to see on of their projects I would invest in. If they made a an actual RPG style ge and not some wierd card battle shit they would have had my money instantly.

Does this mean there is a chance the characters in FFXV won't look so fucking stupid by the time it's released?

Opinions, how do they work?

I think the characters design are consistent and classy. They've improved, even. Prompto no longer has the complexion of a crack addict.

Does Final Fantasy not have enough roided-out buzzcut Space Marines for you?

The characters all look way to similar, they shouldn't have given them all the slicked back and leather look. Plus their clothing (and car) are too normal looking for a FF game, they look weird because they are normal- if that makes sense.

This might not be the FF game for you.

Or Grab Sakaguchi along with Itou, Matsuno and Uematsu and head over to Monolith Soft instead. The old Squaresoft all together again, basically. ;)

I am SO READY for this!

Anyways, I am really unsure about this. I am definitely not a huge Nomura-fan, but this was his baby all along (or at least thats how I perceived it), so it seems kinda strange that he is no longer directing it. Hope it will turn out as good as it looks though, would love to play a great modern Final Fantasy-game.

The struggle is real.

To keep his job?

I think it's corporate speak for "Nomura will finish his obligations on the KH3 project before he exits the company, because no one else wants to direct it."
I fear you're right. Especially since the statement kind of downplayed his role. "He was only responsible for the characters and original concept." Right.

:'(
Gonna go cry in a corner now. I really can't imagine SE without Nomura.

You don't have to imagine it. SE hasn't had him contribute to projects larger then mobile games since the relase of KH2. That's like nine years. You're used to it by now.
