That came after I actually put the claws away, tried to be more civil, and got deflected.

Do you just want to pick at us from the sidelines?

Please point to me this post of civility and where you addressed my points?

Are you talking about the one where you started your post by dismissing my argument as me being too sensitive?

Where you then went on to try and invalidate my criticism of the petition because somehow pointing out that a board ultimately decides this achieves something?

Where your argument then proceeded to amount to saying that because the board may be impartial enough to not be pressured by a petition that I find to be a demand for punishment and not justice and reads somewhat like a threat, that it somehow disqualifies the argument I made?

Where then you proceeded to ask me something that is completely irrelevant to the post you responded to? Seemingly fishing to see if I would say anything other then what your right answer is for reasons I can assume but will not post.

If that is the post you are referring to then yeah, I think we have found another disagreement because I don't find much civil or mature in that post.

You could have just answered the questions. Anyway, you did while addressing someone else so I have nothing left to ask.

Why would I? Your responses read you like you were making no attempt to argue in good faith and being completely dismissive, then the one question you asked was an attempt to shift the conversation away.

Im more amazed by the arrogance that you are exhibiting thinking you can make posts the way you did and then demand someone answer a deflectionary question. Then turn around and try and claim it was the other person that was deflecting the conversation.

Truly mind blowing.

The only time I would find this "ok", is in a circumstance like my friends, where a feral tom cat was killing their kittens and raping the females. However, they killed it instantly with a shotgun, not with a bow that could potentially just wound or cause it debilitating pain. My friend even felt terrible killing the cat... Then you look at this lady grinning ear to ear and bragging about it. Terrifying.

I just don't understand who prowls their property and sees a cat and says "this must be a feral tomcat" and THEN immediately thinks "therefore, I must try to kill it with my bow."

even moreso how that person can be a veterinarian. Just wtf. And even MORESO how you can GLOAT about it on facebook! How can such a combination of a person exist! And her parents seemed totally cool with it too.

Just wat

So it turns out the cat she killed was someone's pet. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the Facebook post by the owner.

Fucking horrible.

[edit]

Seems like it was already posted.

Yeah, it's heartbreaking. I mean, someone posted a video of a cat riding a tractor and he was fucking adorable. I feel bad for the owners...

An idiot, probably. One of the people I used to talk to has the same attitude, the privileged 'Oh nobody can touch me teehee'

Maybe a compromise could be reached. Let her keep her license but only work in slaughterhouses as a public health veterinarian, since she enjoys corpses so much.

:(

I just hope it was not the lost pet. And if it is, I hope the family did not get to see that photo.

Horrifying.

Wasn't even a lost pet. Just wondered over into the wrong neighbor's yard. Quite possibly she knew it wasn't a stray and this was a passive aggressive act.

I don't know if that's such a good idea. It may just lead her to raise a family like this:

Looking at the color pattern on the left hind leg, it's obviously the same cat. She killed Tiger, someone's pet. The strongest defense of her actions has been an argument about feral cats being the natural predators they were born to be... an argument that ignores the fact that it wasn't a feral cat. And that was the strongest defense of her.

To be fair, if you're going to let your cat outside, put a collar on it. Otherwise, could have easily been picked up by animal control.

Unfortunately a collar rarely deters those people from shooting your pets. We have quite a few farms out where I live and some guy tried to blow the head off my friend's dog (hit him in the leg and found him whining under their porch when they couldn't find him for a while, they had a big vet bill) and has killed his cats before when they go onto his property. They have lots of land and have to keep their animals inside all the time now out of fear of their neighbor. The guy is a total prick.

Point being out in rural areas animal control is the least of their concern. Predatory animals and asshole neighbors are.

Feral cats are monstrously disruptive to ecosystems.

You cannot have nuanced discussions about this though. It's like whale or elephant culling, people deliberately choose to deactivate their thinking faculties.

Regardless of the whole issue of whether or not feral cats should be put down, you have to be a complete moron to be a vet and think that it's a good idea to post a picture of holding a dead animal up like a trophy. Like, insane levels of stupidity.

This is also correct. She clearly desired the attention.

So.. she won't be charged. Gah.

Texas vet who bragged about killing a cat with an arrow will not be charged
Investigation failed to uncover information implicating Dr. Kristen Lindsey
She was fired from an animal clinic in Brenham, Texas

(CNN)A Texas veterinarian who boasted about killing a cat with an arrow and posted a disturbing photo on Facebook will not be charged.

A grand jury on Wednesday decided not to indict Dr. Kristen Lindsey, according to the Austin County District Attorney's office. The investigation apparently failed to uncover information implicating her in the cat killing.

Lindsey allegedly shot an arrow into the back of an orange tabby's head and posted a photo in April of herself smiling, as she dangled its limp body by the arrow's shaft.

She added a comment, "My first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it's head! Vet of the year award ... Gladly accepted."

The photo caused outrage among animal rights activists and Lindsey was fired from her position at a clinic in Brenham, Texas.

The Facebook post and picture have since been deleted. CNN reached out to Lindsey for comment at the time but was unable to make contact.

In a news release obtained by the Houston Chronicle, the District Attorney said, "Without more information, the State lacks proof that this incident even occurred in the state of Texas." It said that cat hunting was legal, for example, in Wyoming.

Investigators also could not prove cruelty, since a "bolt to the head" is officially recognized as a humane form of animal euthanasia, the Chronicle reported.

Okay, she was cleared as they could not prove cruelty, but didn't that cat turn out to be someone's pet? If so, I would definitely charge her if it were my pet.

The owner should just keep tabs on her, wait a while for her to get settled, and then bring this to her new employers attention.
