Text Issue With Steam On HDTV.

When I launch Steam on my PC, everything is nice , clean and readable. Just like everything else on my PC, no font issue at all. But, when I launch a game, the resolution drops on almost all the games when I start them(Not the game itself, but the text)This doesn't happen at all on my monitor. It gets really annoying on certain games(Like E.Y.E or HL2)Were I can't even see the configuration font at all, is a mess.

But, on Dark Souls, and Homefront, Is clean and normal for some reason. And the games are a "little" Jaggy as well, but not that noticeable. Has anyone encounter such an issue? I Google this problem, and no luck. Example pics(All four are from my HDTV, not my monitor)

And you will need to make sure all your games play at your TV's native resolution, of course.

Okay, I always had my TV on Full Pixel. So exactly what do you mean "Play at my Native resolution"? It detects 1920X1080 in the settings(My TV in Windows and Games)and thats what I pick of course. Unless you mean something else...Sorry for the Noob respond.

Well, from the photos you linked it just looks like an improper resolution...

Use your TV's info button to make note of the resolution when the text looks fine and then make note of it again when it turns bad, and make sure they are identical.

I just did that, and it says 1080p. I don't understand why is normal and clear on those two games, strange.

Might have to do with the sharpness setting on your TV. There are test images you can use to calibrate it, though I don't have a link to one on hand.

My only other guess would be that your HDTV only supports 1:1 pixel mapping when it's running 1080p at 30hz (30 FPS) -- it's possible that Dark Souls and Homefront are locked to work at 30hz only, and that's why they work fine but not other games. I'm not sure how you could remedy that other than finding some way to force games not to use 60hz display mode. (Maybe try Vsync? Or an option in Windows or your graphics card drivers somewhere?)

Hmmmm, that would make total sense. I'll trouble shoot some more, thanks.

Try putting "-refresh 30" in your Half-Life 2 launch options. In your library, right click it -> properties -> Set launch options

I've gotta get to sleep but if nothing else hopefully we narrowed your problem down a bit. Good luck!

this can be a pain, i would check nvidia's scaling settings if you have an nvidia, that's where my problem was, i think turning off scaling like a poster above mentioned.

-EDIT-1-02-2013
Okay, I fixed the issue. I had to go to the Nivida Settings(Adjust Color Desktop)And uncheck "Auto Select" from the "Apply The following enchantments(The last one)" section. And set it to "Desktop programs" If you set it to "Game" it will put my whole Desktop Jagged like those pics I posted. So, when it's in "Auto Select" It goes to game mode when I launch most of my games. In Desktop mode, everything is sharp and clean.
