[TGS] Final Fantasy XV Active Time Report live stream

Sometimes, Kingdom Hearts designs are so bad that I have to look and process what I'm actually seeing.

They just basically gave him a full beard and aged him up a bit. And gave him more special clothes. I understand if you like the previous design more, but I don't see how this is more generic at all.

The face is completely different dude.

- Noctis does not have a primary weapon and a sub weapon like the other party members do. Instead Noctis can use the sub weapon as a primary weapon instead.

Oh goodness, oh goodness does this mean that the gun will have full TPS controls like it was supposed to with Prompto?

- There will be some stealth segments

I'm really hoping that it's not super automated stealth. It doesn't have to be super fleshed out, just let me manually decide when I want to sneak.

Wait, i know what's bothering about this design and it's the fact that new regis looks like donald sutherland/president snow. Yep, that's it. Yeah, i read the hunger games and uh president snow is not a loving fatherly guy and seeing someone who looks like him act in such a way is going to be really strange.

Pre-order cancelled.

Seriously though, why no adorable balls of fluff?

Final Fantasy IV, VIII, X, and XIII didn't have moogles either. Personally I think it would be more shocking to see these fantastical creatures floating around this particular world. Gotta balance the fantasy with the realism of the world.

In some form or other they did

- Alternate costumes. Not sure if only as DLC or there will be some in the main story. We also don't know if we'll be able to equip them on the fly or if it's limited to story segments.

We can always dress Luna as Stella and pretend it's her. They will throw Stella's face model for $50 as well. Win win.

what happened to moving food on plates? That fish plate was too dead :/

The new design is a lot more generic than the one that was shown in a trailer to us 9 months ago.

I also prefer the old design to the new one, but I don't think new Regis looks bad like people are saying. It's more generic, yes. But he has a more regal look now, which I guess is what they were going for.

To be honest this is as much an 'english source' as the ATR is an 'english source'. The intentional meaning is not clear.

ok, I'll wait for a Japanese authoritative source and translate that.
I've been looking through Japanese BBS's and they also seem to be confused between, 4 weapons or 4 presets Dx

It is, but I can't really see how you can say old Regis face structure is somehow more generic than younger Regis. The complaint that he looks less like Noctis is valid, but that he'd be more generic is kind of silly. I don't remember seeing (m)any characters like him in gaming.

Yeah, realism of the world which contains magical crystals, deity summons, various magical creatures and superswords. Moogles though? Immersion shattered, right there.

If anything, they couldn't fit them in without breaking the narrative tone, but that's whatever, they could have a colony of moogles on a detour if they so wanted.

Oh...

Of course not.

Thanks for the info. I ended up ditching the stream, so I missed it.

Yeah, if the "stealth" is like the Behemoth from the demo, that will be pretty limp.

Yeah, if I'm forced into a situation where the only abilities I can use are ones that pretty much do must of the work for me, there better be some really clever puzzles or it's about as engaging as a forced walking segment.

There's a Moogle doll in Episode Duscae if your talking about references.

IV straight up didn't have moogles. VIII had a reference and a Triple Triad card. X had a Lulu Moogle doll. XIII had a Moogle on a small poster in one of the areas you run through.

I think the distinction alluded to in this ATR is they talk, hence why sabotenders were more likely to fit the style they're going for.

The interesting part is that with Noctis' warping, the stealth could be both fast and fun. Specially if they let us use the short warp like the demo.

The potential is there for sure. They botched it in the demo, but maybe that's the first stealth segment or something, that they use for the tutorial...

I'm thinking it'll be for cover purposes to stay away from the line of sight. We saw a stealth mission in the Progress Report, and also taking cover to stay away from a random Behemoth encounter in the Jump Festa trailer.

The demo did a poor job at making a tutorial.

They can keep Moogle out if they want to. As long as Cactuar's in then that's all I need.

It's been confirmed that Cactuars (and Tonberries?) will be in the game.

They reallly nailed the atmostphere in that Chocobo footage. I am dying to explore that area, ugh.

Well... Yeah. It's called stealth =X

But are they going to implement anything more mechanic-wise or gameplay-wise for the stealth sequences? That's what I'm wondering.

They technically don't need to add anything if they use the systems already in place to do so (like they used the encounter bar for the Behemoth's awareness). But if they do it as just walking sequences... oof.

Well, what I'm saying is it'll be basic. I wouldn't expect warping with stealth and all that.

A good recap please?
I just woke up (with a terrible hangover) and definitely not in the mood to watch the whole thing.
To quote myself. Some of it is iffy.

Recap of info:

Regis
- Regis is older looking because of having to protect Lucis with the magical barrier.
- Used to fight with Cor and Cid
- Has suit underneath the king outfit (?)
- Regis's wife is dead since Noctis's infancy

Luna
- Oracle/can speak to gods of the world. Youngest one yet.
- This allows her to let Tenebrea, her country, to be some what governed. Nifhielm still under control though.
- Her assistant is named Gentiana and is important.
- Made a promise with Noctis at a young age. Promise unknown.

Gameplay
- Can ride chocobos. They're fast and can drift.
- Chocobo races
- Ariel combat
- Arbringer has its own gauge
- Airships uncertain for final release. If they can't do it then they'll try to add it in as DLC. It'll be free.
- Chocobos can be buffed when camped. Faster sprinting and higher jumping.
- Weapon switching. Limited to 4 decks. (?)
- Noctis does not have a primary weapon and a sub weapon like the other party members do. Instead Noctis can use the sub weapon as a primary weapon instead.
- There will be some stealth segments

Other
- Fishing is a mini-game. You can use the fish you catch as food for when you camp which will give you buffs.
- World is seamless except for certain story areas.
- Car can travel off road but limited.
- Alternate costumes. Not sure if only as DLC or there will be some in the main story. We also don't know if we'll be able to equip them on the fly or if it's limited to story segments.
- No moogles
- Gilgamesh not in. Could be considered for DLC

Anything I missed? Or something I have wrong?

And these are possibly the worst in the series, coincidence? I think not!

Then they shouldn't call it stealth, call it sneaking or something >.>

Saying stealth if it's just a means to avoid combat or do a "pre-emptive strike" would be pretty lame on their part... Not that I would be surprised, but still...

Oh yeah, forgot they translate the japanese ones.

Thanks!

But wait a minute, i didn't quite well understood the "changing four weapons" and "sub-weapons as main weapons" bits

We have realtime manual weapon switching for Noctis in some form.

The bros each get an assigned subweapon.

They didn't elaborate.

You can have 4 preset weapon loadouts. You can swap between them in the middle of battle.

Not sure about the sub weapons.

That could make sense and be cool as hell if they did it.
