TGS is over...now we reflect....

Wasn't there going to be some sort of Sony Japan announcement during some Bloodborne presentation today? Did already happen? What was it?

Other than that:

The good:
- New Info and trailer for FFXV and it's looking good so far
- Bloodborne and MGS V still look awesome
- Persona 5 on Ps4!

The "ok I guess":
- Everything gets turned into a dynasty warriors
- Deep Down looked fun in the trailer (but is still F2P)
- FF Type 0 looks fun enough and got a considerable graphical update

The bad:
- 8 years in development and we are still talking about demos square? Really?
- Persona 5 was just shown in the form of an anime style video
- Did Nintendo show/announce anything new? Because I didn't hear a thing about them over these past few days. Not even a new Xenoblade trailer

Nintendo never attends TGS.........

Was playing Destiny too much so didn't pay a ton of attention but the videos from final fantasy, Bloodborne, metal gear, etc were fantastic. Love that EDF is Hitting the Ps4. Wanted to see more from Persona 5 but oh well.

The ps4 is poised to have a hysteric year in 2015. Going to be a mind blowing mountain of software my wallet will never be ready for. Going to be a lot of fantastic games that bomb unfortunately

My takeaways: MGSV did it right, focusing on the various gameplay subsystems and giving tons of information about the game.

FFXV did it wrong. We got a trailer, but still have little/no idea how the actual combat works or any of the gameplay. We just know it's an open world rpg, which is a genre, not gameplay details.

Everything else was standard TGS.

Certainly the best TGS in quite a few years. Admittedly, that's not saying much, since TGS in the previous few years were absolutely terrible. But yeah, new gen means new games, and that's not an exception for Japan.

Oh so that's why.

Is there are reason for it?
Seems weird with them being a japanese company. They could have at least had some sort of nintendo direct

Nintendo Direct is exactly the reason why Nintendo no longer attends any of these events.

Actually I think that comparing this year's TGS to the horrible 2013 edition does not automatically render the last one a good show.

There has been a distinctive lack of new titles announced, not to mention big surprises nowhere to be found.

A pretty weak show in which the best/most interesting games are usually in development since a long time (see FFXV/MGSV) and with several notable missing games (The Last Guardian, Scalebound, Gravity Rush 2, Kingdom Hearts 2, Phantom Dust, just to name few...).

In the end the status of the japanese industry is not that much different from what we perceived in recent years and I don't see how one could consider this TGS a good signal.

Let's see...

The Good

- Final Fantasy XV looks like it's coming along nicely
- MGS V also looks like it's coming along very well
- Bloodborne looks amazing
- Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN is showing how to do HD2D for next gen.

The OK:

- Deep Down update was minor
- Tekken 7 New Character

The Bad:

- No SNKP titles shown... KOF, Sam Sho, Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, something!!!
- DOA 5 Last Round is clearly a cash grab... the game doesnt look like it deserves to be on a next gen console.
- No major title announcements for JP.

What happen to this:

Did the announcement get pushed back or was there a mistranslation? Did shinobi ever know anything or based his tweet on what the GAFer translated.

GAF>Internet>GAF.

You can't trust a rubbish site that do stuff like quoting people off Twitter or whatsoever. Maybe the title being teased just isn't ready to be shown yet...and people should really take all these vague teases from "insiders" with just a slight pinch of salt. I'll believe it when I see it. Not interested in vague "oh yes"s, "um hmm"s, "looks interesting" posts.

Go big or go bust.

Was honestly surprised at all the great news :D!

Great:
-We got SOMETHING for Persona 5 :D! Pre-TGS show trailer was nice :)
-New Ys game (really enjoyed Ys:MoC on my Vita)
-Final Fantasy XV being a REAL game now....with a demo coming soon no less XD!
-Dragon Quest Heroes (looks to be a lot of fun)
-Hyrule Warriors DLC announced (MM Pack......Skull Kid, Happy Mask Salesmen and FD Link coming :D?)
-Vita got games! Square bring its mobile games to the platform and Pre-TGS show had most if not all of its games also coming to Vita
-Type 0 HD and KH 2.5 Remix are shaping up really well (the fact they are coming so soon is even better news :D)

Good:
-Clock Tower spirtal sequel coming (man, what a great announcement :'))
-JP Indie scene apparently growing? (I think so, from what I heard online at least)

Bad:
-No news on a number of games (KH3, Gravity Rush 2, TLG)

Overall killer show :).

It was mediocre at best. We got a nice trailer for FF XV but I don't care about their editing skills at this point, this game is way past teasing and promising, I want a launch date or at the very least a launch window. MGS V same thing. No concrete Persona 5 info or gameplay. No tales of game on the PS4. Nothing on Tekken 7. Capcom showed an obligatory trailer on DD without a date. Nothing on past franchises like DMC and Dragons Dogma. Silent Hills looks to be at the concept stage. And Type-0 at this point is charity. I was also secretly waiting for a Dark Souls 2 port with the DLCs on the PS4.

Bloodborne was cool.

The greatest:

SMT: DEVIL SURVIVOR 2: BREAK RECORD IS ALIVE
Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold new trailer
moar Monster Hunter 4G

The worst:

Everything else

Bloodborne alone made TGS amazing. Awesome gameplay videos. FF15 showing was amazing.

I am seriously blown away by Bloodborne though. I never got into souls game before, but I need to go back and play them.

So what came out of Capcom's Sengoku Basara panel? Skimmed through the panel on YouTube and it looked like they were just playing Sengoku Basara 4 which came out back in January for the PS3.

Just wondering whther they show hentai games at TGS or not like the upcoming Real Girls from Illusion.
Als Metal Gear collection missing lingerie and underwear = fail XD

It was a far better conference than it has been in years, but the lack of P5 news is odd. I mean, I expected us to get other characters revealed at the least.

Lots of wonderful news and info for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD and Final Fantasy XV. Tales news, Etrian Odysssey Untold II news, Persona 4 Dancing All Night news, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2: Break Record, D4 release (though arguable bad news because I can't afford an XB1 right now and I need D4), a bunch of other nice miscellaneous game news that I can't specifically recall right now (but will be kicking myself for forgetting once I do remember) etc. As for bad, I wouldn't put Persona 5 not having gameplay in bad. Getting that animated trailer from the pre-TGS Sony conference was enough to tide me over for a bit. That pre-TGS conference also had Ys and Disgaea 5 which was awesome. But the lack of Gravity Rush 2 was disappointing
(and lack of The Last Guardian, but we saw that coming)
.

My one major gripe with TGS this year (unlike the TGSs of many years ago) is that there were BARELY any new games. Almost everything they showed, we knew of beforehand. Gamescom and E3 have far more reveals than TGS and that is surprising for me because I'd expect at least the top Japanese devs and publishers to reveal more in such a show.

The Missing - Polyphony Digital

We're getting a Dengeki cover with Kaz so Iim guessing we will hear whats happening over there.

Updates wise, it was brilliant. One thing is for sure, there's a great selection of upcoming Japanese titles that are coming to *consoles* for a change, and it has been a while since I last felt that at TGS. I know mobile and handheld devices got the most attention probably, but still, the games on show for consoles were fantastic and at the forefront IMO.
