That one mobile game you can't stop playing

Eredan Arena

p6RgNnj8SeiMQ1bECMf2fpw-lMcScXYN_pgoIhNeESU9zhm1hAl0iVIjdBeo6fLnY0TQ=h900

Can be played in PC browser as well.

Still play a lot of Hero Academy too.

Pokemon Shuffle and Hearthstone.

For hearthstone I've spent about $100 in card expansions and the single player quests. I've also put in a ton of hours in the game so I feel it is worth it.

For Pokemon I haven't spent any money (I'm up to stage 50 I think). It's very addictive with short bursts of gameplay.

Boom Beach. I do play Clash of Clans, but I find Boom Beach's actual battles more satisfying as you have more control over the unit's finer movements.

The main problem, which lots complain about, is that you're matched up based on wins or "VP" instead of levels. If you play too much, you'll get matched up against people who can decimate you and you continuously lose materials. If you farm, you don't have to deal with others much but you almost never get to do that fun part (attacking).

Why the silly qualifier?

because the infantile naming... also because...

ADULT.gif

(Seriously... when i say "im an adult", which i say a lot now... its because of this... its fun to say when talking about video games and toys and stuff... because... well im not a kid... but act like one... but i have the authority to act like one as an adult... because im an adult!)

I pick up Hearthstone every now and again. Played it for a few weeks in beta, dropped it for a year and a half, got re-addicted to it for a few weeks, but now I just pick it up whenever. I also got into Pokemon TCG Online recently which is much better than I expected. I will do a LttP thread on it after I play it a bit more.

...doesn't exist yet. I did try a good amount but I usually play them a few times and then forget about them. Maybe it's really because they're so cheap or free that I treat them as throwaway experience. Not really sure. It's not always a quality thing.

Very glad I bailed on that crack when they started doing events too regularly. Hated feeling compelled to have to sign in so often.

This is why I stopped playing and eventually uninstalled final fantasy record keeper. And I'd probably go back but I knew when I uninstalled it, it was a permanent choice since you lose all progression and I had progressed quite a bit.

Keeping up with the events just started to feel too much like a chore. And it was only the elites that felt like a chore and the normal dungeon mode was too easy and not challenging or fun at all.

Boom Beach by Supercell.

This game came out in March 2014 and I have played this game consistently every day since launch. It's a free to play war-game. And it's superb!!

From the makers of Clash of Clans, it's very similar with a war theme and you don't need to build walls.

Neko Atsume. I thought I was out but the new items pulled me back in, and I had enough fish saved up to buy them all straight away. Now I've got new cats to collect. God.

I boot up Dragonball Dokkan Battle occasionally and One Piece Treasure Cruise but honestly I've yet to find a mobile game I could use as more than a time killer.

I looked for games on the iPad a couple of days ago and stumbled upon Hearthstone.

Thought I just try ...

Can't stop...

Help...

The Nightmare Cooperative.
I like it because it's always different. I can approach it thinking all strategical or trying to play as fast as possible, and it's always satisfying. I love this game, too bad it was a commercial failure that led to Lucky Frame not making games anymore...

In the last few days, I also became addicted to the new game by Simogo, SPL-T.

The Simpsons Tapped Out.

It's the only mobile "game" I play consistently. I play it since its release, and it's also the only F2P game I've ever put money into.

Do I feel proud of myself? Of course not.

But....but it's like a little aquarium filled with Simpsons characters!

Playing Brave Frontier and enjoying it.

Spent 2 years on Tyrant Unleashed.

Now getting Cytus after reading this thread.

i just started up Brave Frontier and liking it... also tried out Kritika and i enjoy the art direction... but still not sold on F2P... wonder if it gets harder... combat is really easy.

None really.

I kinda like Marvel PuzzleQuest but it's probably been 2 months since I played it. Kingdom Rush is good but it's been a while since I fired it up too.

My friend tried to get a bunch of us into Clash of Clans but I didn't like the grind and it wasn't fun to me, so I quit.

I played Threes!, and it's probably still installed on my phone and ipad but it's just an every now and then, couple minutes at a time thing. Same for Fallout Shelter.

Tap Titans has me by the short hairs. It's a more aesthetically pleasing version of Clicker Heroes, Epic Dragon Clicker, etc, only it has the godsend addition of not having your main artifact currency tied to your DPS. I'd recommend it to anyone enjoying the likes of Clicker Heroes because I think it's just way better.

I am so sad that in this whole thread no one has mentioned what is probably the best designed game of the last 10 years: Dream Quest.

I won't post pictures since the game's biggest flaw is the amateur art style, but I have yet to meet someone that actually played the game and was not totally addicted (it has been referred to as Dream Crack several times).

It is a roguelike dungeon crawler that utilizes cards for combat and deckbuilding for character development. However, the true brilliance is in the sheer variety of play styles between classes, and vast different approaches required to take down enemies/bosses. It is just masterfully designed, and the card game interface/roguelike trappings make it perfect for mobile.

Don't take my word for how good it is: Richard Garfield (creator of Magic aka the whole genre) is a huge fan of the game and even gave feedback about game modes that were subsequently implemented. And to all of those mentioning Hearthstone, the creator of the game was hired by Blizzard to be a designer on it a few months ago (hopefully on the single player component!).

TLDR: Buy Dream Quest if you want to experience what is probably the best single player game on Mobile.

More fawning at this RPS link (game also on PC): http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/02/11/dream-quest-pc/

Treasures of Montezuma Blitz on Vita.

I'm only missing the one trophy for playing 100 hours. That's kinda crazy for a game that plays in 1 minute. I think I'm at 39 housr, 49 minutes.

I play ff record keeper, but honestly, it's barely a game. Pinball arcade on my tablet is really it. I just hate the form factor.

where do i lodge a complaint about whomever mentioned hungry cat picross? i've always been a mobile gaming hater but decided to give it one last go thanks to this thread. now i cant stop playing this goddamn adorable painting puzzle game. someone help me. please. i've become everything i hate. look at me, i'm a monster. (dont look at me). help!

Well...ESET is giving me a "Thread Found." "MA Trojan" warning everytime I open the first page ITT. 'sup wit dat?

OT: I played the hell out of Fallout Shelter on a PC emulator (I think I spent like 4 or 5 dollars on cards or boxes...I can't remember). But then something happened, crashed, lost data, moved on.

That was the only mobile game I remember spending a lot of time in, unless you count Plants vs Zombies, but I played that much, much less.
