There was that period early on her career where was like I'm better than all of y'all so I no need to try I focus on more important hobbies like interior designing and shopping, I remember my brother being quite irked at that because he didn't think she was talking tennis seriously, but as with all great tennis players she moved past that stage.

Sharapova doesn't have the tools to beat Williams, either mentally or technically. No-one with a serve as limp as Sharapova will ever beat Serena, you can't expend so much energy just trying to hold serve. You need to be able to hold without too much fuss and focus on attacking Serena. If you let her bully you then you're finished, Heather Watson put up more of a fight than Sharapova ever could, and she isn't even that good. Sharapova lacks the nerve to beat a true great like Williams.
