The #1 reason Im excited for 3D WORLD.

Do people really find the circle pad that bad? I'm actually pretty satisfied with it. I was also surprised at its precision when I played Super Street Fighter 4 on there and Dead or Alive though yeah, it can get a bit slippery, that's true.

Worked very well for me in Dead or Alive: Dimensions, but if I have to keep contact with it for a longer time my thumb starts to slip.

I love how people think 8 way = super simple.
I guess every PC game ever is super simple. It's all about the design of the game. RE4 had, for all intents and purposes, 4 way controls, and it was far from simple.

Have you thought about investing in alcoholic and/or antibacterial rubs for your circle pad?
I too find that I have a similar problem (feeling like my thumb is going to slide off) when playing games on my 3DS. What would the rubs you mentioned do to alleviate this?

I'm excited for it since June 11th when they showed the first trailer.
It's just stunning, the art and the ideas for that title. And Peach & Toad are playable.
Sooo good!

Cute fanart is the best btw.

Is it like a sweat based thing that makes your thumb slide off? Maybe a thumb sock would help.

Gonna try one of these when I get a 3DS.

I can't stand the circle pad. It just doesn't come with the same precision as a stick and I find myself fighting with it more than I should be. Maybe my model is defective but it's the one 3DS feature I really don't like and will never get used to.

I just wish 3D World had actual analog movement.

+1

8-way movement is BS when you're playing with an analog stick. Yeah, Wiimote players will be stuck with that either way, but at least let single players enjoy full analog control. Or make it an option, whatever.

I don't have a problem with the circle pad itself, but the tendency to be corralled into one of 8 directions was really annoying.

That's the game. Not the pad. The game is 8 way, digital movement. I assume the Wii U game will be exactly the same.

My friend played the demo with the uPad and the WiiMote, he said the d-pad was much nicer.

Just a head's up.

That makes me sad. Makes sense as they've obviously designed the game around being playable on just a Wiimote (since it's so multiplayer-focused, and Wiimotes are probably what players 2-4 will be using in most setups), what with all the 90 degree angles all levels seem to be contructed from. Everything is made for 8-way movement. But yeah, makes me sad. I want full 3D movement in my 3D Mario games.

That's interesting because I was actually somewhat concerned it wouldn't feel as good on a normal analog stick. Mario 3D Land felt really good to me as it was.

Orrrrrrr, don't ruin Mario's beautiful movement to allow for a control setup that no one should be using in the first place. 3D Mario is not 2D Mario. Why in the hell Nintendo thought people should be playing this game with the Wiimote on it's side is beyond me. They invented the goddamn analog stick precisely so that people didn't have to control 3D Mario with a dpad! I hope that we don't feel the remnants of this in the final game, because at E3 I found the multiplayer unplayable due to the Wiimote only controls. Glad they've added all the other options, or this game would have SUCKED multiplayer.

My thumb slides off sometimes, which leads to hilarious inside-knuckle play that often leads to death. It's annoying, but the game gives you a million lives so it's not the worst thing.

3D Land is the only game it gives me problems.

Take a cheese grinder and rub your left humb hard on it, peel the skin off and use some alcohol to clean it properly.

Voila! Problem solved, you can now enjoy your 3DS! Thank me later

But yes you are right, the 3DS circle pad thing is a tad annoying, my thumb flies off, i have to constantly keep my mind on it, its annoying i am not just playing the game i am also thinking about this pad thing.
