The 10 Most Controversial Video Game Advertisements

I always liked this one myself, mainly because Nintendo isn't really known for 'edgy' ads.

I remember this Sega Ad causing a bit of controversy. Now that I see it, it reminds me of Mormon Bubble Porn.

The sad thing is the Sony's White ad shouldn't even be controversial. Why do we have to immediately associate color difference racism?

What in the world is wrong with the Call of Duty: Black Ops TV spot? I thought that their commercials have been pretty damn good.

Chick from the Juiced commercial:

Whoa, that was Sim-Wise?

I, er... I should have recognized her immediately. *cough*

I feel like there's been an 'everything is sexist' witch-hunt in geek/videogame circles as of late, which I find annoying, but whoever is responsible for that commercial must be crazy. It was a terrible idea and I can't even think of a way to defend it.

I can think of tw--

You know what? Too easy! Yes, the ad is horrible.

She does fetish modelling as well.

Did fetish modeling. She doesn't do any modeling at all now. She writes, and she's damn good at it. Her blog is consistently interesting to read.

Because feeling something to be offensive has become reason enough for accusations of bigotry.

What about the cute baby doll in the middle of the room?

Hooo-boy. I love me some Dead Island, but no matter how many times I see it, I can't wrap my head around the fact that someone thought this was a good idea. And then other people thought so, too!

It doesn't make sense on any level. Too gruesome to be titillating, too disturbing to be humorous.

The UK zelda 64 "Wilst thou get the girl or play like one" ad will always be my favourite for "how did they think this would be a good idea".

I just took this shot from my August 2000 EGM. :lol

The Seaman ad from page 2 is right after it. Man, that time, where the Dreamcast just came out. ;_;

The fact that people complained about the Xbox "Life is short" advert winds me up. People need to stop crying so much and chill the fuck out. It's was a funny advert and it was obviously just something to get your attention and go with the "Life is short" thing.

The PSP advert is people blowing one of the many ads out of proportion. It's always the ones with white winning that is shown when people talk about it.

I don't remember there being much of an outcry about the ad at the time, was there? Thought it was seen as pretty successful.

Regarding the PSP ad, that may be true but it still made me say "What the fuck" out loud when I saw it.

It sort of brilliantly underlines the uselessness of the back touch panel. Do we need a set of breasts at the back as well? Of course not, we've pretty much got our hands full with the pair at the front.

"Women should have three breasts - two in front and one in the back for dancing." -Al Bundy.

juiced one already down?

also, not seeing what was controversial about the COD one

oh yeah...didn't NEC have some innuendo-laden comic ones for turbo duo in the day?

Yeah, Johnny Turbo. The last one is the weirdest/best.
