I already paid that for an Iphone 7 Plus.

I'll just jump in if it has OLED.

Jesus...

Ok, man of the past, let me enlight you. In my phone I do:

Watch Netflix
Read Books
Read magazines
Play Videogames
See Mail
Hangout for job
Chat with friends
Take photos

My mobile is my most used deviced by far. Of course, if you work from home or something like that is not that necessary.

Phones are mediocre to bad at most of those things. A lot of them aren't even good phones.

Well, Apple is basically finished anyway. They have been fucking up like crazy the last few years. I give Apple 5 - 10 years before we never hear from them again.

This is coming from an all Apple guy, by the way.

This company is constantly looking for ways to fuck us up the ass and see if they can get away with it.

You do realize that they could not make a cent and still run their business as they currently do for more than ten years just off the money in the bank, right?

Stop making me depressed. How screwed an I next year when my contract runs out? By then we will be in mid Brexit and I'm expecting the £ to tank further.

Next year will be saying £1200 iPhone?

We're all depressed my friend. Best case scenario is a slightly worse 2008 type crash. That's the best case. Yeah, prices for everything is going to go up next year, almost no one, even the brexiters dispute this. The £ is expected to go down further, and firms haven't even adjusted the prices for all products yet, but they are going to.

It's impossible to say, because worse case scenario, who knows how bad it could get? I don't think it will get that expensive, although, it's possible, if our economy crashes badly enough, which is very possible.

In the span of a few months, the Samsung Evo I wanted to upgrade to, went from £100 to over £150. And Apple has already hiked the price of their expensive products by close to £200, months ago. We already live in one of the most expensive countries on the planet. Less jobs, higher taxes, less services, and higher prices, than what it is now!

And I need a new phone. Might be smarter to get one now, rather than brexit prices? I try and get stuff from America, from family members. Just sooooo much cheaper, it's fucking ridiculous. Need a new tab for comics since I destroyed mine when I was drunk. Ordered to parents in America, who will bring it to me soon, hopefully.

They raised the MBP prices to insane levels and even people on this very forum happily pay those prices so I'm not surprised they'd raise prices on the iPhone too. People will still buy a $1,000 iPhone.

Well, at least the iPhone will have 3rd party support.
Tbf with the $700 extra you can buy a PS4 Pro for 3rd party support, and also a mid-range $300 smartphone.

That's actually kind of crazy, although I'm of the opinion that the smartphone is the most important device in people's lives, so it's well justified to pay way more for one than for a videogame console.

This sounds fantastic, I've been saying they should do this since the Apple Watch released. The Jet Black 7 was just a teaser. Give me that scratch proof anodized stainless steel all black all screen iPhone, Apple. Who cares how much it costs? I spent $600 on the first iPhone. No regrets.

Oh, PS, put a USB-C on there instead of the crummy lightning port.

After reading the Fast Company article the MacRumors story used there is nothing indicating the BASE models will be over 1000.

They're purely speculating that given the materials, tech and existing pricing for storage the top end storage model could be 1000+.

Hope it's a good phone. My Nexus 6 will be 3 years old in Nov. and my mom has been pushing for the iphone as the next phone I get so I can facetime with her (not that I will allow that to influence by decision).

Apple has been going down since they released the iPhone. Yes you heard it here first, the company that released the most important tech product in the last 20 years has been going downhill ever since. /s

Anyway i am on board. I am on their yearly upgrade plan and I am able to upgrade like 2 months after this should release so I will wait and make sure the new design doesnt provide any issues. The new Home button and touch id being under the screen has me a bit worried but I am sure they have this hammered out. My 7 128gig is my best friend and take it everywhere.

It's nice you can buy $250-$300 phones. Been there. Done that. Hell, I have in my room now two phones that cost $25 and $60, along with the ones that cost $400 and $900. Different strokes for different folks.

As long as it's good, isn't too much more than the previous model, I'll be interested. Perhaps not necessarily buy, but interested.

Yeah, $1000 is a lot, but when you factor in just how much people use their phones (even when they are not actively using them), it can be easy to justify. I get way more than a $1.40/day out of it.

It's interest free with Verizon so it's basically an installment plan.

It's amazing how every iPhone thread becomes an android pissing contest. Why do people care so much how others spend their money?

Congrats? I use my phone ten times more than any other device, it's more useful than my laptop. I have no problem shelling out the money for the best phone available. Every iPhone I own I get multiple years out of it and never have to worry about major problems, it just works.

well, I mean these days...

ah never mind

what's insane is how cheap mid-range / flagships with good camera's and great build quality are coming up (See OnePlus & Huawei). I guarantee on my life that if some of these people who only swear by Apple and Samsung flagships were to be forced to get these other bang for buck phones they like it and have no major issues.

Hmm. Normally I wouldn't want to spend anywhere near this on a Phone. If the phone is really slick looking and stands out more than the current line of iPhones I might bite. Right now a lot of the phones look the same in a case. I also would like an OLED screen and I perhaps an all glass front without a button. i absolutely don't need any of this and could spend the money elsewhere but I just enjoy a nice phone.

Hope it's a good phone. My Nexus 6 will be 3 years old in Nov. and my mom has been pushing for the iphone as the next phone I get so I can facetime with her (not that I will allow that to influence by decision).

That's a cover, she wants to use Find My Friends to stalk you.

I paid $900 I think for my 6s Plus two years ago I think, was a 128 gb one too

looking back, should have just kept my nexus 5 but I use my phone everyday so I guess it was a decent investment

Think I'll just keep my current phone until iphone 8

Can't justify having a payment plan for my phones any longer when you can do just as well for $400ish in one shot. Just doesn't make sense any longer to me personally but more power to the people who take the plunge.

Get her to use Google Duo. It's a great piece of software and doesn't require residence in Apple's walled garden.

With a 4 inch screen right?

That sounds like the top-of-the-line full-storage model judging from the article. Though I wonder how much will be stripped out of the "standard edition" to keep those prices in like with the current iPhone 7. I just find some of this reaction premature. I mean, even in Apple World, few people pay for the fully-optioned model. Most of those iPhone 7 Plus models in the wild don't have 256 GB onboard, for example.

How does an OLED screen justify such a high price? Other lower priced phones have OLEDs. I'm going to attempt to write this next sentence with a straight face. How about they accept slightly lower margins? Phew, made it.

The rest of the shit is just design and doesn't in itself justify a price hike.

Fairly sure you can do all those shit with phones costing $200

I can do a lot of things with a cheap netbook too as with my Dell XPS.
Just not as well or as comfortably, which is the point.

Well he didn't make any statements about the quality of what he's doing, but regardless I'm fairly sure you can get a phone of similar quality for less as well, though if people what to be price gauged by Apple that's there prerogative I guess.

I agree that OLED shouldn't drastically raise the price.

That being said Apple has already been doing crazy shit with their LCD screens and the glass that wasn't cheap.

It's also worth noting Apple isn't gonna use the cheap entry level 1080p OLEDs that Samsung sells to cheap OEMs.

1k for a fucking phone lmao
If you look at it from that perspective, yeah it's ridiculous.

But, it's more than just a phone. Smartphones are minicomputers. We take it for granted because they're so ubiquitous.

Some people are willing to pay for an Apple experience (as opposed to Android). Can't knock them for that.

They put a premium on that experience.

I like how random rumors are all it takes to get people to go full condescension mode and call anyone and everyone willing to pay more than the $39.99 they spent on their used flip phone materialistic garbage people who only care about image.

Where's improjecting.gif when you need it?

Honestly I wish Apple would charge more and deliver less, because people would still buy it and it would amuse me... The people I'm surrounded by don't buy new iphones to take advantage of or to use new features, they buy it because it's new... That's it.

Apple could easily release a "new" phone with absolutely 0 changes from the previous model and it would still out sell everything else, guaranteed.

Yeah, stupid idiots.

Phones are so expensive that I don't see any need to upgrade more than every 3-4 years at this point. I will get whatever is best in the price/performance category like I do with most other things in life. Brand loyalty is just throwing money down the toilet.

Almost everyone I know who has an iphone has developed some sort of hardware malfunction, I'm running a Z2 and hasn't gave me any issues.
That's funny. My wife and I have had iPhone 4, (she had a 5), 6 pluses and now 7 pluses, and we've never had hardware issues among any of those 7 total phones except a home button that I had to clean once.

I buy them for the larger storage/memory and camera upgrades. The dual-cameras on the 7+ are amazing and it shoots better 4K video than comparable cameras. Most sub-$500 standalone cameras don't even do 4K at all.

While I find iPhones to be underwhelming for their price, I have realized that people being able to afford and enjoy them has no effect on my life. Weird.
