I'm very happy with Wet Hot at #1. I've probably seen that movie 10 or 12 times with my friends.

No Tropic Thunder is just mind-boggling to me though

Best in Show is my favorite comedy -- nice to see it there at #4. I've seen it countless times and recently watched it again for the first time in years and it still holds up so well. It's flawless.

Punch Drunk Love was a comedy? What?

Best in Show was amazing.

The top 5 is fucking awesome and kinda shockingly after my own heart (though I would've put Ghost World in there instead of In The Loop).

I grinned visibly with delight (and surprise) at seeing Wet Hot American Summer at #1.

Observe and Report is funnier than plenty of those movies. Should be on the list.

Napoleon Dynamite should be on there as well.

Taste is subjective, but no Hangover (1), Amelie, or Snatch is a little suspect. I give partial credit for not including Napoleon Dynamite (which I hated), but that good will gets tossed out with Punch-Drunk Love (which I also hated). What about Deadpool? That's more comedy than "superhero movie." And why do animated features not count?

I think a comedy ranking thread would actually be quite interesting on here. Always seems to be a large variety in taste.

Punk-Drunk Love on this list is weird. I don't think that movie made me laugh out loud a single time. It's very good though. Sort of like Stranger than Fiction. But that film had some funny bits in it as well.

Then there is God Bless America, which I thought was really funny but also disturbing. It's a sadistic anthem to anarchy and murder. It's also self serving, but the point it tries to make is on point. It left me laughing but also with a bad feeling inside. Rarely has a movie made me feel such a state.

Lego Movie is a big omission for me here. It's one of my biggest surprises ever. I thought I was going to hate it, I thought I had seen everything they could do with lego animated after the countless stop motion films on Youtube using Lego.
But Lego Movie is incredible. And then the meta element happens where it breaks down the fourth wall. It blew my fucking mind.
But the comedy timing itself was also on point. The multilayered joked reminded me of Dan Harmons brain. When Community and Rick and Morty are at their best, there are like 3 or 4 different jokes/references inside one conversation at once. Brilliant deduction and use of characters miunderstanding, misrepresentation and characterization of each other.

Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer (omission) should be higher. Chapstick humour at its best in many years. These are classics. Absolute wonderful films that still hold up. The only thing that had the same kapow of its kind in the last many years was probably Rush Hour (but that was 98 so it wouldnt make this list)

Anchorman is such a stupid stupid film, but I am glad it is on here. I'm not even a Will Ferrell fan but that film did actually tap into something. It was more than those films that came before it like Dodgeball. Similar low brow films. Anchorman just flows. There is a film in here and it gets away with it better than it should, given that the jokes are so childish.

Tropic Thunder is a massive omission as its one of the most excellent action comedies in recent memory. Tom Cruise gives a performance of a lifetime, and the whole film as a play on the films it makes fun off, is well done. You recognize the very framing, shots and panoramas from Platoon, Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now.

Super Bad, Team America, Hot Fuzz. These are the ones that you can watch again and again. Those had to make the list.

Then there are those where I am more on the fence on; Maybe they are comedies but but not funny comedies. Zack and Miri makes a porno is quite a cute film. And Click really made me choke up. That film ended up having heart.

would zombieland make it? I dont think Zombieland is less deserving than Burn after Reading. But Burn after reading was wonderful because that was what they choose to do after no country?

Yeah I did a search and there didn't appear to be anything similar. It makes for interesting discussion.

Also, no animated films is an odd omission.

Tropic Thunder
Spy
The Wolf of Wall Street
Pineapple Express
Trainwreck

All three missing from the list. Hell I love Superbad, but it's not as funny as it used to be. Out of any Apatow movie I would probably rank it a little bit low. It was great at the time, but now it's kind of eh.

A few too many garbage Hollywood comedies in there.

The list is desperately missing OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies.

Overall not a bad list. Spy should definitely be on there and while I was surprised that This Is The End didn't appear, that movie is wildly uneven.

Wasn't expecting that number one at all. I only saw it recently but I loved it and thought it was hilarious. I'm not sure if I'd have it number one on that list but it would be damn close if it wasn't.

Observe and Report > All. Also I Love You Man is brilliant and missing.

I also think Wanderlust is better than Hot Summer.

But I really don't care about lists; to each their own.

No MacGruber :(

Glad Walk Hard is up there though. I'd put it in my top ten comedies but none of of my friends had even heard of it.

What the list is actually missing:

- Attack The Block
- Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle

Also Bad Santa should be much higher.

I didn't like Tropic Thunder. I seem to be in the minority, but I found it annoying.

That said, the original Hangover should be on there.
