People are free to write whatever they want. That doesn't mean you wouldn't change the list. You're not actually rewriting the list, we all know that. By saying you disagree with part of the list means you would have otherwise changed it.

There are many occasions when Hitchens has made misogynist remarks (even besides his women are not funny article). While I loved Hitchens for his honesty in many cases I also found some of his opinions and ideas disgusting so I don't mind him being in the list. He had his ups and downs but he was helluva debater and great speaker.

or in the vein of football, it would be like listing the most loathsome NCAA teams. You could put Penn State on there and list the reason as being the Sandusky debacle but you want to bet there are a bunch of Penn State fans that would disagree with Penn State being on that list? It comes down to personal preference. How is that not completely obvious?

not at all. i said "most loathsome houses" not "horribly painted houses". The list is just "The 50 Most Loathsome Americans" it does not specify any reason in the title why someone is loathsome. It is broad, and as such a person can easily disagree with a placement because they disagree that a ta specific thing makes a person loathsome. in my case my sheer apathy towards frank millers political views is why i dont think he is loathsome.
