here's a lesson to future directors. make a movie with a cute dog, and in black and white and the old voters will shoe you in.

What do you mean by this? (Genuinely Curious)

I don't like the submissive, happy maid bullshit from Hollywood. I don't feel that movies like "The Help" are very truthful, feels outdated, and is condescending. I saw it, and the out of touch, privileged, white middle class attitude of it just bleeds through.

At the same time, I really like and enjoy Viola Davis as an actress and as a person, she deserved it just as much as anyone and this has to hurt her, being the favorite and all (At least I assumed she was). Unlike everyone else, she probably has so few opportunities to win something like this (Unless their is a live action version of Aunt Jemima).

I just wanna say that its fucking stupid as shit that for a score (from moneyball and Michael Dyanna) that is used so consistently throughout all the Oscars videos to not be nominated.

Have you seen The Artist? I didn't see all the nominated films, but out of The Descendants and Hugo (the only others I saw), The Artist is the only one that's actually worthy of the award.

Practically a perfect movie, and anyone can enjoy it. Go see it if you haven't already.

Do silent actors really count as actors? They don't do as much work as motion capture actors, and they're not eligible.

exactly! put the silent actor into a non-silent film and see how he does! charlie chaplin couldn't win an oscar in todays age of digital crap like transformers!

Also, fuck the Academy for giving The Artist best original score when it used music from Vertigo in a pivotal scene. There Will Be Blood's score was disqualified for WAY less.

The Artist looks like its shit. Can't believe it won. That damn dog deserved the Oscar more than the guy who won best actor.
Am I doing it right GAF?

John Goodman has now been in an Academy Award Winning Film. All is right with the world.

If you knew anything about acting you'd know that acting is 90% body language, 10% dialogue.

But you know what really grinds my gears: indignant, Francophobic Americans.

It was sarcasm man, how did the motion capture comment not tip you off to that....

No need to see it, the awards spoiled the whole damn movie. Winning all of those awards, you figure Hugo would've won best picture, since y'know, they won all the other awards.
