The Amazing Spider-man #698 spoilery discussion

So, seems like Humberto Ramos is destroying another storyline. I mean even if Slott's writing is up and down, Ramos just butchers everything in his path.

man i havnt read amazing in so long- why the hell is the art so shitty?!
Humberto Ramos has a really stretchy-squashy dynamic that's fun to look at. He does seem to have gotten really sloppy in the last couple years.

One of the Romitas should have drawn this issue.

Cool drawing skillz bro.

I blame her ridiculously messed up jaw and cheeks.

AAAANYWAY, I love that Peter goes to Heaven and nobody cares to point out that he made a deal with Satan.

Fuck y'all by the end of #700 Peter will have his body back, be back with MJ, and retire. I will stop reading Marvel comics if that doesn't happen.

This will probably not be what happens, but the writing in the preview there seems pretty good and hints that Peter's finally going to start the process of finding a successor.

I have to say, I was hyped to see something truly outrageous to build up to Superior Spiderman with the way Slott was talking. Then I read this and Im just bored. The whole body switching thing is so overdone. Slott really took the easy way out.

What JMS did during Spiderman's run was worse. Though really that was Joe Q's ideas mainly and JMS did have a good run with spidey before then.

JMS run on ASM was great in the beginning, he got Peter, MJ and May like no other writer I've come across. It started to go downhill with Sins Past even if there still was a couple of good arcs after that. I really liked that new Molten Man guy and the one where they all move into Avengers Tower and face hydra. But starting with The Other I don't think I enjoyed JMS Spider-Man as much anymore.

Hate to say it but this retarded development has made me want to read comics again. I just found a place in Tokyo to buy American comics too. Put me on board for Superior Spider-man.

the majority of the issue is a typical day in the life of spider-man while some things or the way he says things is strange. it is revealed at the end of the issue that at some point dying doc ock switched minds with peter parker so peter parker's mind is in doc's body and doc's mind is in pete's body but he has all of pete's memories as well. the issue ends with doc ock/peter dying while doc ock lives on in spider-man's body

So its like swapping the operation system without changing the harddrive and the My Documents folders?

How does it work?

They said the beginnings of this went a ways back so I thought of his most recent encounters with doc ock.

In #600, when Ock was controlling his little octobots all over New York, Spidey put on the same helmet device that Ock was using in order to beat him. I wonder if this is when Ock maybe implanted himself, or copied Pete's memories. Only recent, when he knew he was dying very soon and had failed with his Ends of the Earth plot, did he activate whatever it was.

.

you saying DC hasn't treated Superman shoddily? that whole year of JMS and walkign accross America?

walking across america is supposed to be on par with the other, the bong scenario and this current stuff? the only person in comics that gets shat on more than pete is the king of bad ends matt murdock. hell matt and pete should make a duo so they can collectively ruin lives as much as sam and dean from supernatural.

So how have they treated Peter's inner monologue since Ends of the Earth? Has there ever been any hint that anything was off?
I find it kind of ridiculous that even with Peter's memories, that Ock would be able to mimic him all this time.

Keep in mind, Spock says, "where did this cut come from?" which should put it into perspective time wise.

It's possible it started slowly growing after he got out of the water in EotE but that cut line suggests it was very recent.

Odds are it happened in between the end of the last chapter and the start of this one.

In One Moment in Time they start it showing that MJ says that Peter would never go through it, so behind his back she secretly makes the agreement with Mephisto for him

Wow. I didn't read that, but that's terrible. JQ just won't admit that OMD was a terrible storyline, will he? And he really doesn't like MJ.

Eh. I was more interested when the rumor was that
Miguel O'Hara was coming to the proper 616
and was going to be the star of Superior.

lololol Spidey semen killed MJ? Hilarious. Glad it's non-canon.
Reign is not canon, but that plotpoint is. Mary Jane suffered radiation sickness when she was pregnant in the comics but survived. It also kept her from turning into a giant spider.
