The Amazing Spider-Man - Final Trailer

None of the other movies ever delivered on the sensation of Spidey swinging through NYC as well as this does. Visually, this outclasses the Raimi flicks by miles.

Seriously, imo it shits all over Raimi's movies in this area and that's just going off the trailers. Really impressed with the way Spidey crawls, swings etc

BTW, just IMDB'd the dude in the trailer who's talking to Connors in the jail(?), it's Michael Massee playing a character named Doctor David Lowell, who according to his Wiki...

Another Oscorp employee, Doctor David Patrick Lowell worked in the Osborn Chemical Company division, where his main project was a type of "super fertilizer" that could increase the solar absorption and growth rate of flora. After being passed over for a promotion, an irritated Lowell showed Osborn his work, and Osborn, noticing Lowell's chemical was uncannily similar to the Goblin Formula, immediately fired him and ordered all his work terminated. As his life's work was being destroyed by Oscorp employees, an enraged Lowell tried to fight them off, only to become drenched in his formula and be knocked into a wall of solar lamps. The combination of the Goblin Serum-esque chemical and the electricity caused Lowell to mutate into a light-based being dubbed "Sundown". After going on a rampage through New York, Sundown was ultimately defeated and imprisoned by Spider-Man and several other heroes.[2]
After being incarcerated for ten years, Sundown was released from prison, but was blackmailed back into supervillainy shortly afterward by mob boss Lucky Lobo. Eventually turning against Lobo, Sundown, with Spider-Man's help, was able to expose his crimes. Afterward, Sundown declined Spider-Man's offer of becoming a superhero, in favor of a normal life.[3]

I loved this ACTUAL wall crawling snippet, something we've never really gotten from the Raimi SM;
ASMwallcrawl.gif

Love it but at the same time it gives me creeps because it reminds me of how spiders usually crawl quickly when you try to stomp on them.

All over his face?

I like this. I love that Peter finally has chemistry with his leading lady. I like that Peter finally cracks joke and doesn't look chubby around the tummy.

Confession: I have seen no movie in theatres more than I saw Spider-Man 2, which I saw
6
times.
Same here. Saw it three times in theaters alone, and at least a dozen times, along with all the special features (A LOT) when I bought the special edition dvd. I also watched SM3 twice in tethers. ._.

Man, forget the plot, or the villain, or whatever. I'm in this one for the visuals. Those nighttime shots with the vivid colours are delicious.

If we get wisecracking Spidey, as the small knives line seems to indicate, then I am all over this movie.

That was.... a great trailer. The CGI looks good (probably because there actually is less CGI then I'd expect), the suit looks good, the camera angles look interesting as if to give the viewer the perspective of Spider-Man himself, the actors involved are good, ...

I didn't have the slightest interest in this movie, but I might check it out now.

That's something that never really comes across in the comics, due to the lack of motion, but all that fear mongering of 'wall crawling menace' makes sense when you see a snippet like that.

for those discussing George Stacy:
he does die in the comics and drama kicks in between Peter and Gwen, dont see why it couldnt happen in this film

also further comic spoilers that help explain the tone of the film:
i get those complaining about the tone of the movie in general but at least its true to the source material. This whole arc is pretty fucking dark and known to some as the end of the Silver Age. I mean depending on how they handle it we could have 3 fucking deaths here: Ben, George and Stacy. Two of wich are blamed on to Spiderman for different reasons

not to mention that
they're working the angle of him being responsible for creating the lizard as well, probably by solving that equation Connors had in his class

so yeah, spidey has it rough

So...everyone knows he's Spiderman?
Gwen does and I'm guessing her dad will find out near the end, but won't tell anyone. I've been saying this since we saw that first trailer where he's unmasked by the cops, but no one will be able to tell who it is because he immediately jumps up and begins kicking the crap out of all of them and will be moving too fast for anyone to get a good visual, except for maybe Captain Stacy.

Have you ever read the comics? His ultimate goal when the Lizard persona takes him over is to transform the human population into reptiles, namely so he can control them iirc.

Ugh. If that's his motivation for the end of the movie....

I absolutely adore the usage of Spidey's power set in this trailer. The movement and velocity of the spider-swings are obviously great, but I love the crawling along the walls/ceiling even more. I need a gif of that Lizard/Spidey battle asap. Spider-Man has one of the most unique, visually interesting power sets out of any popular superhero. He shouldn't just be jumping in the air and punching people. He can hand upside down, cling to any service, use his webs in inventive ways. I think this film is finally doing that, along with his more outlandish body language and his trademark humor.

Fuck, I'm hyped.

Looks like a fun romp that will need to be experienced in IMAX. I have a feeling they're going to go for broke with the first person 3D cam shots.

Also are we guessing they're gonna go with the
CIA employed
parents thing? it would be weird since
it involves Nick Fury and all
, although i guess they could just skip that.

Edit: oh that's right they're probably going the Ultimate Spiderman route

I haven't walked out of a comic book movie with that vibe since TDK (yes, I loved it initially), and have only done so three times period - after S-M2, after BB, and after TDK. But S-M2 takes the cake. I remember seeing it opening day on June 30 and being so pumped afterwards that we went back each of the next three days :lol

Confession: I have seen no movie in theatres more than I saw Spider-Man 2, which I saw
6

I thought you saw The Dark Knight 6 times too?

Are you talking about the Ultimate comics or the 616 universe? In both Gwen doesn't know about him being Spider-Man when her father dies. But in 616 there is no real angst between each other, and in fact Captain Stacy loved Spider-Man and secretly knew about Peter. The the Ultimate SM Gwen more of a sister figure to Peter, but she's pissed at Spidey since he is the one being blamed for his death (just like in the 616 version). Eventually she realizes that Peter is SM, and almost shoots him over it. In the 616, though, Gwen dies (by Green Goblin/Osborn's hand) before she ever knows who Peter really is (iirc).

The way it'll play out in the movies, i'm guessing, is that Captain Stacy will find out Peter is Spider-Man in that one scene where he takes of his mask, since there's a clip of Pete staring at someone, and about to run away. That person, i'm betting, is Stacy. He'll then
die and Spider-Man will probably be blamed in some capacity for it
.

OMG, wouldn't it be cool if this is a sign that
Sony is considering possible co-op movie with Marvel for the next Avenger movie featuring Spiderman
?

No, but i'm willing to bet they are still spies, but instead of working for the CIA to find Red Skull (like in the comics) they'll be inside-agents at Oscorp, where they discover something and
get killed by Osborn, maybe.

Ugh. If that's his motivation for the end of the movie....
Guarantee you it is.

Very likely

they are most likely doing a merge between events on both universes

for example, regarding my previous comment about the parents i later edited and going by trailers and whatnot they're most likely doing the
Peter's parents are biologists working on the cure for cancer
, while i think many of the other aspects wont be necesarelly inspired by Ultimate Spiderman.

edit: oh and also my intention for "drama" there was the fact that
she blames Spiderman for his death, and going by the fact that she seems to know Peter is Spiderman in this film, it could be a possibility. I just dont see the whole film carrying their relationship as something going super good all the time. Unless they kill her in the end i guess

I saw S-M2 and TDK 6 times, BB 5 times, no movies 4 times, Avatar and one or two of the LOTRs three times, and tons of movies twice.

Nowadays me seeing a movie twice is basically the equivalent of seeing it 6 times in 2004. There is no way in HELL I'd see ANY movie 6 times in theatres again /getoffmylawn

Looks good to me, other than the number of him scenes of him in costume but without his mask.

Also, GAF never fails. We now live in a world where the first 2 Raimi movies are terrible, terrible films.

Besides the lead actor, it looks fine. Good, even. But I still object to the fact that they are rebooting it.

Maguire will always be spiderman to me.

...And JK Simmons will always be the news reporter boss.

there is a gif on last page and it has all the things that you are mentioning like back flips in roof etc

They werent actually terrible, just...kinda bad.

They had a shitty lead actor and actress with no chemistry, piss poor CG, a pudgy spider-man, and filled with horrifically corny scenes like any of the "NY NY!" stuff

I thought the trailer was good, but I like Spider-Man so I'll probably watch the movie regardless of how good or bad it is haha.

Kinda hard to believe the the first Spider-Man movie came out 10 years ago...

read the /film interview and yeah: POV shots interspersed throughout the film, ugh :/

that pretty much ruins the 2D versions of the movie, since its clearly a 3D-thought gimmick.
