The Amazing Spider-Man TRAILER #2

I didn't like any of the previous Spidey films. Never ever. They had this hokey vibe that I couldn't overcome. This trailer, however, got me pumped for some reason.
Same. Seems to me, that the people not liking this, and are fans of the Raimi movies, wouldn't like any of the Spiderman cartoons or comics. From what we've seen this movie is much more true to the comics / cartoons. Raimi's Spiderman was just a weird new version that doesn't make much sense and takes away more than it adds from the character.

Looks like it will be fun, and Emma Stone is smoking hot.

So hard. So incredibly hard.

I'm thinking Gwen's dad dies, then Gwen dies in the next one.

I'm still salty the black guy from community isn't Spider-Man.

Gwen's dad will die, which will lead Gwen to make some sort of "THIS ISN'T FUN AND GAMES PETER, YOU HAVE RESPONSIBILITY" and Peter will be like "THAT'S JUST WHAT MY UNCLE SAID, TIME TO GO BEAT UP CONNORS TO REDEEM MYSELF IN A CONVENIENT FASHION" and then yeah

I wanted Donald Glover so much too. :/

lol, maybe in the next reboot.

And yeah, I get the feeling that's exactly how it's gonna go down, too. If they play their cards right they can make it the most meaningful death in comic-movie history. Oh, and MJ in ASM3. :p

Why is there even a reboot in the first place? Yeah, Spiderman 3 was shit but why can't they just go with Spiderman 4 with Lizard in it so we don't have to go through another origin story?

Only to be trumped by the Bruce Wayne/Alfred/Gordon death in TDKR.

I think the problem is that they set up the overarching story as a three part arc, then they completely fucked up the finale. Making another sequel would have, at best, felt like a superfluous epilogue...and the franchise would have still felt soured thanks to fucking up the Osborne legacy.

I'd rather see no sequel than a Spider-Man 4. I was seriously disapointed when it was announced, and glad when it promptly fell apart at the seams.

I mean, in all seriousness, a lot of people keep shouting retread at this..but we've never seen the story of Gwen Stacy and her dad told on screen (SM3 doesn't count), and we've never seen the Lizard either. The former especially is essential to Peter's character, and it was always my biggest gripe that Raimi left it out, as much as I enjoyed Spider-Man 2.

I hope we get a fight scene from this trilogy as good as this one from SM2:

Watching that, at 1:45 when he throws him behind through the bridge, how the fuck does Doc Oc end up in front of him? Momentum would mean that Spidey should have been far far far ahead of Doc Oc coming out of the bridge, but somehow Doc Oc teleports further forward, and Doc Oc is not fast enough to get there in the few seconds that scene took place.

Sorry, that just rubbed me the wrong way, it's still a great scene.

Some posters should re-watch spiderman trilogy cause they apparently have forgotten how shitty that CG work is. Nostalgia/memories bias/rose tinted glasses all over this thread.

I thought Marry jane was spiderman's love interest in the comics and not gwen?

Gwen came before Mary Jane. There were a couple of others before Gwen. Although he never dates Liz (Just a crush) and he only has one date with Betty.

When was the last time you watched the trilogy?

2.33 is my favourite action bit from the Raimi films. The whole fall and recovery, the way he barely looks in control when he's leaps the building over the train, not to mention the score..such a good sequence.

EDIT:

I gotta say though..the 2.1 additions basically fuck the whole thing up. They break the flow..and Spider-Man getting hit full speed by a train while he's already moving at full speed in the opposite direction completely breaks the immersion, plus they play the same reprieve music that had already appeared like 10 seconds ago, which gives the whole thing a comedic "can't keep Spidey down!" vibe.

Well, wasn't hyped or anything for the movie, but the trailer made me want to see it at least. Special effects looked awesome.

So far it seems to be matching my predictions: probably not as good as Spider-man 2, but at least as good (if not slightly better) than Spider-man 1, and well, sorry to underplay this, but a lot better than Spider-man 3.

Who is doing the music for this? Going to be hard to top Danny Elfman.

Danny Elfman only scored Spider-Man 1.

Again, what did you expect them to do? Bring Tobey and Raimi back for Spider-Man 4, this time with 10 bad guys? Businesses don't want to lose rights to money-printer properties. Their only other choice was to re-cast and go for a slightly different tone to see if it sticks with audiences. I think they've set up the pieces about as well as they can from the looks of this trailer.

You do realize that they DID brig back Raimi and Maguire for Spider-Man 4, right? Raimi ended up balking at Sony's ludicrous timetable for the film (if memory serves, they gave him like less than one year from day one pre-production to release), and Sony promptly cut ties with Raimi and Maguire. And knowing how this was likely all going to play out, Sony also commissioned the ASM script in secret as a contingency plan.

But had Raimi not balked, Spider-Man 4 would have been out last summer.

I loved Raimi's take. I loved the tone, the direction, the casting, the music, etc.

*high five*

It's been "internet cool" to hate on his movies for years now, but fuck that noise. He nailed it perfectly.

It's good for me because I loved the Raimi films (the first two) and I think this looks great.

Drinks all around! May they co-exist harmoniously.

Feels way cheaper and overall less epic than previous spidey films.

BUT that doesn't mean it'll be bad, so I'm still maintaining an open mind.

Didn't do too much for me either. Looks alright and I didn't dig on Spider 1 all that much but the Lizard design looks shitty.

Trailer felt too poorly cut and the 'epic music' wasn't all that great. At least the guy playing spider-man seems a lot better then I expected to be. Could be fun.

I enjoyed the Raimi films, with 3 being the weakest (although I thought sandman's story was very well done and should have been the primary focus as originally intended.) The fight scene from 2 (posted earlier in this thread I believe?) really shows talent. I can only hope that the fights in this albeit more grounded can possibly reach that level.

Looks great to me. I liked the Raimi ones (even parts of 3 were OK) but this looks at least as good. Definitely seeing this one.

And I hope those who raged about Spidey being unmasked in S-M2 will not be hypocrites here.

GOTS TO GET THAT ACTORS FACE-TIME FOR THE MONEY PAID. Spidey 2 was ridiculous, I dont even understand how he had a secret identity anymore. Even worse in this where he's de-masked seemingly by cops and appears to spend the entire finale without mask.

Not in this. :/

wait what. Worst ever Spider-Man adaption confirmed.

It looks good but also felt a little unenthusiastic. I want to see stuff I didn't see already in other superhero movies.
