The Amazing Spider-Man TRAILER #2

I've not seen this movie but I can assure you, as an expert of the three previous films, it will almost certainly be rubbish.

There is simply no way a film that is not even finished yet, that I have never seen, can be up to my standards of superhero film excellence.

I've not seen this movie but I can assure you, as an expert of the previous three films, it will almost certainly be a cinematic tour-de-force masterpiece.

There is simply no way a fim that is not even finished yet, that I have never seen, can be any lower than my standards of superhero film decency.

I think the look of the film (as in the setup of shots and whatnot) are better than anything in the first movies except the second one, but the whole characterization of both Peter and Spidey in this trailer just screams uber-douche to me and is a turn-off.

I dunno, man. The look of this film in some shots looks very flat like a TV commercial or low budget affair. Case in point: When Gwen watches Peter jump off the balcony. A lot of the static shots seem visually uninteresting from what I've seen.

Meh, I've only really seen the trailers and don't really judge anything from internet trailers. After I thought the first LOTR trailers looked cheap and then realized how freaking amazing the actual film looked once you saw it in an actual theater I stopped judging footage on internet trailers. Video on the web seems to have a way of making everything look like its made on TV budget.

I'm talking about scenes I saw in the theatre yesterday.

I dunno, I think it looks pretty nice. That said, I havent been a huge fan of the visual style of the recent Marvel movies so this made me pretty happy. Not perfect, but good. Im definitely a lot more excited for this than The Avengers.

This lizard talk got me thinking again.... what the fuck happened to this?;

Was it just the angle or something? (it's a leak from the comic con footage a while back, btw, confirmed to be real iirc)

So what happened here? Some people were saying this was a photoshop of an AvP-R scene.. Is that the case? Lizard looks a TON better. Im hoping the mutation theory pans put, cause his face looks goofy in the trailer.

I like Andrew Garfield, but I just don't buy him as Peter Parker at all. It just doesn't feel right.

I've already made a comment about this earlier in the thread, but it appears no one saw it. This was footage from last year's Comic Con panel and since then they changed his appearance for reasons only known to the film makers. That's it. They might say why in a Q and A with the director or cast sometime down the road or even on the "Making of" on the Blu Ray.

Everyone does realize that these CG models/textures/backgrounds etc always get re-worked during production, right? I work as a 3D artist and we're constantly messing with our stuff or have to make big changes on a minutes notice because someone higher up didn't like what they saw. As others have said, maybe they couldn't get the snout look to work correctly if he had dialog he needed to say, thus the more human face/mouth.

But we do know that the leaked comic con shots were from the bathroom scene, as the description of it from people who saw it say he comes out of the floor of a girls bathroom stall and scares the crap out of those two girls. In the trailer, we can see him climbing out of a hole in a bathroom stall, so put 2 and 2 together.

Nothing happened. It's the same design..he's still got a flat face, he's just leaning forward and stretching his neck out.

In trailer 2, pause on the shot of Peter kicking him on top of the tower- similar angle.

~30 year old playing a teenager never looks perfect, but it is not a great fit here.

Tobey and MJF pulled it off pretty well.

He looks like an actor dressed up as a nerd. Tobey simply looked like a nerd.
Tobey looked like a spaz from the early 50's that got caught in a time chamber and woke up in 2000. People need to understand that "nerds" are hip now. They don't dress like a character from Revenge of the Nerds anymore.

Im aware how things like this change, constantly, I just wasn't sure what context that photo was taken. Sad to think this was indeed real, and that they ultimately changed it.. Especially after a positive reception at Comic Con.

Thanks for explaining the story behind the pictures though, I suppose that rules out his appearance mutating/changing. You're right, he clearly has the new face while in the bathroom in the trailer.. I cant imagine the scene of him looking at the woman even working the same with his new appearance. Damn. =/

Real teens don't look like real teens on camera.
Huh? That said, Im glad they didn't go too young with actors so they aren't trapped in the high school drama for too long and can move past it.

Everything in the trailer looks fantastic. Except the Lizard sort of looks a bit toyish and animated up on that tower. And not one scene of the full transformation! (excluding the big eye part) I am still certain that as a whole, Lizard and this movie will be fantastic and great.

Not getting any Twilight vibes at all. They're teenagers mingling, Pete and Gwen. Teenagers do this. The trailer is just indicating that their relationship is significant. It won't be the whole movie with them looking at each other all sparkly eyed. Spider-man now has proper wit. His hair is fine. He like skateboarding. He's a science genius. He likes science. And photography. Fucking teenager. He is Peter Parker/Spider-man. All's good.

These guys look a lot more like teenagers than Tobey Maguire and Dunst did. They didn't even look like college kids. Garfield has a lean and lanky look that makes it work and Emma stone doesn't look that old either.

Yep, this combined with a terrible female lead is giving me vibes already it won't be nearly as good as the original trilogy combo. The acting in the trailer is so.. lackluster. Like they're reading lines in dead air.

Cautiously optimistic though.

Mixed on the trailer. Some parts look amazing (some of the actual swinging) and some look terrible (the CGI swinging which I hated in the other three as well).

I have hope based on the talent involved but still not too sure.

Also the music in the trailer is god awful. Music goes a long way in helping any trailer feel more epic and this one failed miserably. Its cut odd to begin with. I appreciate the 2+min length but the trailer doesn't flow.

Wow, I think Garfield is the perfect portrayal of the Ultimate era spiderman. And I've been a fan of Emma Stone since Zombieland while always hating Dunst. Only movie I found her attractive in was the first spiderman, and never considered her a capable actress.

Poindexters don't exist anymore. Garfield looks fine as an actual highschool nerd. The hair is indeed sorta funky looking, but I think that makes him more like Peter Parker, not less.

much better then the first trailer, still not a fan of the suit (something looks off) and the lizard design....but I might actually go see this in theaters

The fuck? Emma Stone is terrible compared to KIRSTEN DUNST?

One thing I've never understood with films of this nature is why they bother setting it in high school at all. It's just so implausible that the actors are in high school, and I can't imagine that the story restraints are so powerful that they have to set it there. I wouldn't bat an eye if the dialogue was discussing what Peter should major in, but the idea of him saying something like "Oh shoot I missed the school bus" just seems so ridiculous to me. I feel like the college schedule and environment gives you a lot of flexibility in terms of the script as well, whereas you would be more ham-stringed by the necessities of a typical high school schedule. Am I alone on this, or does this just not bother people that much?

Amazing Spider(bat)man. So ridiculous. Does Spidey even really have a history of clashing with cops? I always thought the press was his "rival" in that sense.
He's gotten shot an seriously injured by cops on a few occasions, yeah. It isn't as dandy as Raimi Sm made it out to be, there are times where the cops hate him for doing their job better, etc etc.

Only if it's opposite day. Garfield looks out of place, Stone isn't even a tenth as attractive as Dunst is. Or a tenth as good of an actor. Which says a lot really.
Yeah, about your taste.

Well at least it looks like some people in the movie actually hate spider-man. That was one of the many things in the Raimi spidey movies that really bothered me. Other than JJ, it seemed everyone loved spider-man. He's not supposed to be popular folks. JJ's hate brigade would have driven him out of business if people didn't believe he was a menace. Aunt May hated spider-man for ages! And the cops generally were after him, hated him when he helped, and at best would form uneasy alliances through necessity

Well you don't really have "nerds" and social outcasts in college or at least it's not as apparent as in a small HS setting. The same with bullies. You don't really have them at college

I think it legitimately upsets me to know that there is someone out there who does not find Emma Stone attractive
