But say, Bugs Life and Antz? Was there some huge media buzz involving insects? Or Volcano's?
I feel like this happens SO often in the film industry.
Halo 2 and Killzone. Killzone was created solely to compete against Halo. Released a week apart too. LOL
Only issue is, the same developer made both.
Allied Assault and Call of Duty were created by the same team.

recently its overwatch + battleborn.
Seriously folks can't stop comparing / debating the two even though they are completely different games.
I think Mighty No. 9 and Azure Striker Gunvolt are the more interesting games to compare as far as Mega Man successors go. Now, while both games involve Inti Creates, one is made by Inti Creates in conjunction with Inafune's Comcept, the other is made by Inti Creates alone with no involvement from Inafune and his company. Furthermore, while the first Gunvolt has been out for a while, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is due out this year, pretty close to Mighty No. 9's release.I'll present this one with a ginormous asterisk but : Mighty No 9 and Mega Man Legacy Collection***
The second delay had MN9 potentially releasing a few weeks after the Legacy Collection, thus competing with a similar product with the same designer.
Of course this didn't happen! But it was interesting to think how they would have fared in the same space competing directly at the time.
Urban Reign and Beatdown: Fists Of Vengeance.
The beat 'em up genre was barely alive in 2005, but suddenly these two games were released almost simultaneously.
Reminds me of Giest/PsiOps. Completely different games that came out around the same time, but that didn't stop people from comparing them. That's a perception problem, to be honest. It's not good for Battleborn because everyone is talking about Overwatch, and it's good for Overwatch because everyone is talking about Overwatch so why bother getting "that other game" when they both look so similar?
I mean yeah they play differently, but if I go by just the betas OW is a much more interesting game than BB is. The reality of them being different doesn't change the perception, which is the reality for everyone with that perception (aka nearly everyone).
From the "olden days" we had Final Fight versus Streets of Rage. Boy are THOSE two camps always out for blood with each other!
Hey now, let's not be forgetting the best beat 'em up to come out of 2005
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy and Second Sight.
Ah, yes, wasn't one of these by the TimeSplitters guys?
Urban Reign and Beatdown: Fists Of Vengeance.
