That and jets dropping bombs, basically anything that comes from the sky except for helicopters.

Your are joking right? Helis rapped in BF2. I was always more scared of the Heli then the plane. Those things chewed up infantry and the guided missle destroyed everything.

except you could usually hear/see it coming, run for cover and stand a decent chance of shooting it down.

Helicopters were definitely powerful in the right hands, but they definitely weren't as scary as the fixed wing aircraft. I shot down plenty of helicopters with the anti-tank guidable missiles. Hell, I even killed the pilot of one by shooting a grenade launcher right at the cockpit when one flew up in front of me while I was on a building. Best battlefield moment ever :lol

Fixed wing aircraft on the other hand would fly by at 800 mph and just obliterate anything with a well placed bomb strike. Man, it was so fun flying those in BF2. Nothing can take you down except another plane, and most people couldn't fly decently at all.

Anybody else experiencing lock ups on the PS3 version? The game has frozen on me at least 4 times since I got it, and my PS3 rarely ever freezes with other games...

I swear lately every time I'm having a good game I either get disconnected from the server or the fucking game locks up...

Hmmm, I've played 10+ hours of it on the PS3 and have never gotten a single disconnect or lock up. The game sometimes has audio hiccups though.

So I popped in this thread to see what's been up.

brandumpling: :lol

I haven't played this game in about a week. I'll try to get back to it this weekend.

Same here, been playing the IL-2 Sturmovik demo.

I cannot emphasize enough how much I enjoy this game.

I love how spread out everything is. Stuff like COD4 and going back to CS/Q3, it's all too claustrophobic and too twitch based. Just running around corridors and hoping to get the drop on someone. You have so much more freedom in this, and direct confrontations are pretty rare. Plus, it's just entertaining as hell to play. So many funny and crazy things happen in every game it seems.

I cannot stand watching other people play most FPSers, but I have almost as much fun just watching my roommate play as I do actually playing it myself. The only thing I could wish for at this point would be more maps and to somehow increase the player cap to 16v16, or......24v24. Maybe on the next round of consoles?

Best $15 (actually $20, thanks MS) I ever spent.

It seems like they could. The scoreboard at the end of rounds looks like it has space for another 4 or so names per team. Maybe in future dlc..

Aesius, say hello to the proper Battlefield series.

I really hope DICE see that there's never any need for Bad Company or what have you. Yeah there are fans of those games out there, but nothing can compare to the multiplayer brilliance that is BF1942 and BF2. I'm more than glad to see that BF1943 continues on that tradition, even if it does contain small player numbers and unlimited ammo. It'd be unreal if they pumped out an update to the Invasion of the Philippines map, but that map is only awesome when it's 32v32 because it's so huge.

I'm tossing up whether to grab the PSN version, the trial was that fun. Alas I don't want to buy the same game twice :lol

It's a scene from 21 Jump St. Good ol' Johnny Depp.

I always thought it looked like Kirk Cameron.

I just realized the leaderboards only go up to 250,000 and the last place person on XBL has over 200 kills!

So how many people bought this?

That's true.

You didn't really show yourself in the junior thread, but you have everywhere else I look.:D

Didn't think that I had posted that much. What kind of impression did you get? I'm curious :lol

From where? Not much from the junior thread, that's what I'm trying to say. You seem like a fairly intelligent guy, I like that.

it's getting weird

Very.

Played a couple games tonight after taking a week break because I was moving. Pretty sure I played 5 games of Guadalcanal in a row tonight which was pretty brutal. Other than that though, still having fun with it.

Nah, it's the game's engine. The Bad Company demo locked up on me three times and that's single player only. 1943 locked up on me twice the first week, but not since *knocks on wood*.

Yeah, the lock ups have become quite frequent lately. I'm talking once every few hours. Also the sound cuts out periodically, which never happened in the BC demo (don't have the full game).

Game locked up on me again, that's twice today. This shit is pissing me off.

I've been playing quite a bit since release and it has happened to me once now - where I had to completely hard boot the PS3. Sucks you're getting it more often, but ultimately I don't think it's your PS3 at fault. I still get a lot of blackbox artifacts while playing too. It's DICE, ya know.

The planes are so fucking hard to fly :(

They are?

My problem isn't the flying part. My problem is identifying targets to strafe. I tend to fly fairly high up in order to avoid AA and other planes - and sometimes I can pick out a tank or two, but for the most part I'm highly reliant on my teammates to highlight the enemy, and often times they just don't do their duty.

I'm not flying very often anyways - besides the beginning of the match where I use it as a taxi.

Planes are relatively easy to fly yes.

You could also try to seek out the battle hotspots, marked with the yellow sign. There's a good chance that there are a bunch of enemies fighting against your team.

A semi low approach works best for me. Not having to dive results in a much lower airspeed and gives time to spot enemies and shoot infantry.

It's also wise to have an insight in the flow of battle. Having an enemy base near a group of friendly bases will most of the time result in some armor or jeeps rolling that way. This can especially be useful at wake island.

Yeah, I see a lot of pilots taking the low-and-slow approach lately, which, as a soldier on the ground, I love to see, as it makes them very easy targets for AA or tank shells. But as you say, it also allows them to see targets much more clearly.

I've been getting somewhat bored with my usual Rifleman/Tank gameplay, so I may try flying some more and I'll give the low approach a try.

You really have to figure out where the main bulk of the enemy is and pay attention to what flags are being lost and taken. On Guadalcanal Ridge is a great killzone for planes while wake I find beach and the radio tower base and airfield the good ones for getting kills on. Iwo Jima is probably the hardest map for finding people on due to the Time of Day.

Well then you never faced me in a Heli. :D So much fun circle strafing and just killing everyone and everything.

The planes where definitly fun but the F35 vs J10......

I got 100% of the Trophies last night (I got into the game at least a week after it released).
Lovely game. Though I do seriously look forward to Hardcore mode in Modern Warfare 2.

Has anyone had any luck joining any games today? I can't get into a single game on 360. I get "The game appears to be unavailable, please try again." error every single attempt.

I was in one about an hour ago.

I'm on 360 and rarely get 12 vs 12 anymore. Last night was 10 vs 10 which was good. Then the next round it deteriorated to 5 vs 5... then 5 vs 3. :lol

Had two great moments last night.

On Iwo-Jima, we were about to win this match. There were no more planes on our carrier, so I spawned with my squad at lighthouse. Right when I spawn this Zero flies overhead, firing and dropping bombs on us. Took a few pop shots at him with the M1, hit every time.

Guy decides to fly around again to try to hit us once more. Flies by, misses everyone, and starts to turn again. Took another few pop shots with the M1, and I see at the bottom of my screen "Enemy vehicle destroyed +10", "Gamertag killed +10", "Savior kill + 5".

On Gudalcanal. I was flying around in a Zero, and one of my squad mates told me that there was a sniper on top of the large hill by ridge taking them out. I turn around a ways out from the airfield to go shoot at him. Got to the hill, and rained down a ton of bullets from the plane.... for some reason, absolutely nothing hit him. Fly past the hill and turn around. Now I'm flying perpendicular to the hill's road, and I see the guy running down. I'm about at the guys level in height, I fire... nothing. However, I was so low to the hill that ran into the guy running down without ever even touching the ground. I ran him over, with the plane, and lived.

Welcome to the club. :D I have gotten a triple kill from road kills in the plane. So much fun. Cant imagine what people are thinking when it happens to them. Guadalcanal is perfect for it because of the hills and also ridge base.
