The Battlefield 1943 (XBLA/PC/PSN) Official Thread

You don't by any chance have a video of this do you? A quick youtube search yielded no results
Sorry I cannot find any videos either. I'm hoping when BF1943 comes out for PC they release the others on Steam as well. I have a hankering to do some ship on ship fighting.

Played through the demo. Connected after a couple of retries. Not a bad game, but... but... I can't, I can't. My pile 'o shame is high enough...

Xbox dudes make sure you try again.

I just got a good hour of BF goodness in :D . So much fun.

It's odd though...the planes' bombs (regular flyable ones) dont seem to hurt infantry. A bomb literally landed in my lap and I wasn't even hurt :lol . My ears were ringing and I was shell shocked though. The sound in this game (and BC) is second to none. Can't wait for the sequel to see how they improve it.

What do you mean? The gameplay isn't good enough?

That's 'cause it was your teammate who dropped it. There is no friendly fire. (Although I think you can be killed by an air raid if you're in a tank, regardless of who dropped it).

I know people can't find games, but I can't connect to EA Online. Am I the only one?

Still stuck at work for another half hour and then I have my lovely commute home :( ..... can't wait to play tonight, glad to hear psn version is working.

PSN demo sold me. This game controls much better on a controller than I thought it would.

Some questions

How do I use my parachute?
How do I repair bridges? No engineer kit?

Damn the time I decide to go with the 360 version to anticipate less issues it backfires. :lol
I just played the demo on PSN. It runs better on PSN and the planes control a LOT better with the DS3. Damn. Looks like I may double dip after all.

Its gotten a lot better, was able to join with 3 friends and were rocking it up. So much fun with 3 people cant wait to try 16

the only problem with the ps3 demo is for some reason my PSN connection is slower than molasses. I seriously don't know what is wrong with it, same wireless location as the 360.

I have the same problem.

This is a real shame, I was looking forward to this, and only one of my friends has really been able to get on the 360 version, several of us either cannot connect to EA Online, or just can never get into a game.

I'm in the latter. I connect to EA Online just fine, but can't get a game :\

Soooo true. Awe-inspiring sound design.

I haven't had any problems so far except for the fact that 90% of the community sucks balls and/or doesn't know what to do, no one squads up, and there's no communication or teamwork.

Connected just fine each time I tried.

[edit] This is the PSN version.

Searching for games, please wait... joining game.... the game appears to be unavailable, please try again.

Same thing when I try and join a game in progress from my recent players list.

PSN demo is pretty nice. :D The Frostbite engine looks pretty good without the grain filter. Anyone else playing at the default sensitivity? It feels pretty good.

Controls feel a tiny bit smoother here than in Bad Company. The tweaks feel nice.

And click to sprint...yes! Now I just need some monies to get the full game...

I tried the demo for a good while... I'm reinstalling BF2 instead.

This game does absolutely nothing better and it somehow looks much worse.

PSN version runs flawless, no lag or connection issues. Had a blast with the demo, gonna pick this up for sure now.

If Dante gave it his seal of approval I guess I have no choice but to get it. Scared of the 3 maps thing though. Is it like warhawk and they are huge but have different map settings for different modes, and room sizes?

Oh rad I got about an hour's worth of play in and I think my 360 is overheating! Weird black... lines/huge triangles with white dots randomly appear out of nowhere. Hell yeah! D:

edit: oh thank god this appears to be a Battlefield issue and my system seems to be fine.

I was hesitant due to already owning Warhawk as well, but it feels different enough to warrant having both. I don't see it lasting nearly as long as Warhawk though. And yeah gotta also give a shout out to the audio....awesome job.

I only played the demo map, but it felt like a nice size, lottsa different routes and ways to attack, I went in pretty skeptical and had a great time with it.

Played the PSN demo and had no lag or trouble connecting. Will be buying shortly. :D

Playing 1943 brought back so many 1942 memories... besides playing the Bad Company single player demo I haven't touched a Battlefield game since '42. I was 'wowed' when I was reminded that the environments are now destructible. The game really is a lot of fun, and intentionally or not it ends up providing a lot of laughs. We should definitely make a GAF 1943 chat room to set up PSN games. The chat room system works well for Street Fighter IV, and GAFfers > random players.

Anyone else having problems with their wallet account on the PSN....it won't let me add funds....or when I try to buy the game, I get error 02092 somthin somthin...... man I WANT to buy the game damnit!

It's par for the course with Battlefield games. The same tips work as before, find a group of good player to play with regularly squad up and ignore the nobs.

Finally got on and played for a few hours. This game is fantastic and all those awesome memories from 1942 are coming back. Iwo Jima is the best map and has some awesome set pieces. The battles between the light house and the bunkers are intense.

Also I was happy to see this go up to 24 players because for some reason I thought it was only 16.

I just played 6 rounds with a awesome squad of random people. None of us were using mics but we seemed to have really good teamwork and traveled together.

this has happened to me too. usually in the beginning of a match when I'm looking at the water from the island.

Not kidding, you want a good team work game... Play as "the bitch", follow someone in your squad and spawn next to em each time. After a few minutes you'll start working together... if you just spawn on your own and do your own thing and expect people to follow you heh, nothing will come out of it.

Rifleman owns all, that is all.

I'm fairly average to even slightly below average in general in Battlefield but I had a run with the rifle earlier where I just feel like a complete bad ass. My team was assalting a base from one direction that was above us and I was at a different angle also below but on a hill. And I just start rifling fools like a mofo. They kept respawning and I kept firing and taking them out every time. Like I said I'm a pretty low level player but for that one moment I felt like a god. So good.

I'm still finding myself using the submachine gun mostly. While the rifle is good I use up a clip almost instantely when facing an enemy, and the SMG works a lot better at close range when defending a flag and hiding in a house.

The sniper rifle is a bit more difficult though, since it's so slow. It only kills with one hit if you do a headshot, right?

Played about 5 matches on psn. All of the games transitioned smoothly into the next. They were all full. No guys popping in and out or running in place. There might have been lag, but none of the horrible symptoms.

The only hitch occurred when my trial ran out after the second match. I bought it after doing the tutorial, but I guess I didn't unlock it. Anyways, the game is great fun. I usually hate jumping into online games and feeling lost forever. I picked this on up super quick. Lots of visual indicators and an easy to learn capture and defend play type make it very accessible.

Someone said center mass also is one shot kill with sniper although I don't often play the scout class.

I'm no master with the rifle but the trick is the use the range it has. It's really become my favorite class. The SMG is good but I have to get so close to feel comfortable to not blow the kill that I often end up getting myself into trouble.

I don't know if it's supposed to, but during a lot of games the map I'm playing get repeated once before the next one comes up. It's quite annoying.

It has been repeating them 3 times for the game I was in earlier :/

Are there really only 3 maps? Maybe you're just getting unlucky with the low map count. It's bound to hit the same map due to it only having 3 others.
