The Battlefield 1943 (XBLA/PC/PSN) Official Thread

Does anyone like to go Kamikaze in the Planes? In other words, do you like to crash into tanks and people in your plane?

I LOVE doing it, and it always makes me laugh. I wish I could hear what people say after I crash into them with my plane. :lol

Played a couple rounds last night and my entire team was obliterated by one guy in the air plane.
He had like 50 kills at the end of one round, just flying around shooting and bombing the shit out of us:lol
Seriously there must be some unpublished flight controls somewhere.

the infantry controls are quite crappy.

They aren't as good as COD4/CODWAW, that's for sure. But there is very little auto aim compared to those games, so who knows.

Then again, after COD4, they're the best console shooter controls of any shooter I've played.

This is Battlefield tradition. In Battlefield 2 especially there would be pilots who had over 100 kills and 0 deaths.

It's actually quite easy to stay flying around the entire match, if you get a plane early on. Just patrol around the enemy carrier and airfields to make sure that if an enemy aircraft takes off, you shoot him down quickly.

Problem is actually hitting anyone with the bombs for me. I've dropped bombs dozens and dozens of times and only killed a guy once with them. (he was in an AA gun, so he wasn't moving, easy to hit)

If you have trouble bombing in this one, like I do, getting kills with the aircraft is tough. I shoot down all of the enemy aircraft in the game and only end up with 10 or so kills because people stop trying to use the aircraft after a while.

yeah, those guns are awesome. sometimes at the start of a game on wake island, the squad i'm in will take a craft and cut across towards the enemy creafts abd gun them down.

Once in awhile, I park my craft just infront of the enemy carrier so that when they take of, they fly right over me, and I just kill them...over and over...

No this guy was much worst than that, its as if Neo jacked into the game, he was flying upside down shooting people flipping over bombing tanks and jeeps going full blast.
This guy was insanely good, not talking about just cheap kills. He shot and killed me once when i was inside a building, how crazy is that.
his psn was WEST-N or something like that.

Indeed. I've seen some ridiculous stuff being pulled off in planes. I would imagine those people either played previous BF games or just spend all their time flying. Or both.

Pretty hilarious match last night - my team was rocking for once and we got all 5 flags within the first 5 minutes. Then we all ended up on the beach, picking off people on their carrier and blowing up their boats before they could land.

I eventually ended up taking a plane and parachuting onto the very end of their carrier and started sniping them as they spawned. It was hilarious even though I got no points for it.

I shot a plane out of the sky that was flying perpendicular to my tank with it's main gun. It was one of those, "What the hell, let me take a shot and see what happens . . . " moments, and I was pretty surprised at the results.

I'm new to GAF (this is my first post!), but if anyone needs any squaddies on the 360, add me! My GT is: SirButterstick

Ah yes, I remember guys like that in 1942. I haven't seen any in 43 yet though.

Obviously they become a problem when nobody from your team wants to get onto an AA gun. It really pisses me off when I have to get out of a bloody tank that I'm driving in order to man the AA gun (even when there's a dude manning the machine gun turret) - all because no other bastard from my team seems to give a damn that the entire team is being raped by an enemy plane! :D

But I remember in 42 that there were guys who seemed to know instinctively which AA gun you were firing from the second a shell burst near them... they'd dive straight to the water (under your line of fire) and swing around out of your view. Thirty seconds later they'd pop up from behind you (it didn't matter which way you were facing at the time!) and nail you with a bomb before you could get a single round off. :(

Jesus Christ I can't believe I only got to play 30 minutes before it kicked me out of the demo... 30 minutes is not enough time to figure out if they're going to like the full game or not! ESPECIALLY for someone who's never played Battlefield before (like me). I was just getting used to the controls and when everything started to seem smooth, BAM, I'm out.

Now I don't know what to do... do I buy the game, I might get disappointed since 30 minutes gave me nothing except a preview of how the game controls... or do I just skip it, because of the HUGE mistake they made by (again) only making it 30 minutes :(.

He would blow me out of the AA gun as soon as I got in there, this dude was unreal.
I have since been trying to learn how to fly, it's not looking good :lol

So close to getting the final trophy :lol first game I'll ever complete 100% on either system.

And in all my play time, I've only ever ran across one dude who was REALLY good. He was hitting people with the rifle from 100 feet and just totally made his side win every time.

Just get it. Just about everybody that has bought it has loved it, I highly doubt you'll be disappointed.

I don't know if people have gotten worse or if I've suddenly gotten better, but my k/d ratio decided to shoot up from the 1.4-ish I typically get in shooters to 1.9. I'm certain it's mostly the former. One round I stood on a hill near the beach defending the airfield with a tank on Wake. People just kept running in front of me for like three minutes. Shot at them and they just kept running towards me. Got BF2 singleplayer flashbacks.

Defending/ambushes is underrated btw. Few people do it, so few people expect it. Enemies unawarely walking into your line of fire and getting surprised by getting dead is the typical outcome.

Me stats. Hope they fix the brokenness at some point.

I parked my jeep a hill directly opposite the last remaining enemy base on *cant remember the name, its the map with all the hilly bases*, i got around 20 kills with the mounted sniper machine gun before they realized it may be a good idea to shoot some rockets my way.

Guadalcanal. Yeah, there are a lot of hills you can hide on and do work on enemy bases. A good chunk of my best hill streaks have come from this.

I searched the forum for a PS3 chat room, but didn't find one. I guess I'll start it. Someone let me know if one already exists.

Add Rotbot if you want an invite.

I wonder if they'll ever fix the friends leaderboard? Looking at the same leaderboard for BC, my guess would be no. I can't believe a developer like DICE, for a company like EA, can fuck up something so simple.

Searched the first 2 and last 2 pages of this thread, sorry if this was mentioned

Does anyone else have problems with the PS3 mic cutting out with your friends in your squad? It usually goes out after 10 minutes or something stupid like that and it might come and go but its a huge problem. I also get disconnected every time I play. For example, i'll turn the game on, play for 20 minutes and then lose connection with the game. After that it wont happen again for the rest of the day but its almost guaranteed to happen within the first half hour.

I'm trying to figure out if its my connection or not, maybe a port problem. Also in NHL 09 the mic will become scrambly after a while as well. BF BC had problems too (yes all EA games). Anyone else?

Most likely the bullshit that was "Find All Five" part duex from Bad Company 1.

Actually, I feel it is.

I never played a Battlefield before the 1943 demo. Packed servers/three classes, Wake Island sold me on it after the first round. You get two rounds in that 30 minutes (depending on demo server load/how quick the round is played) which is a good taste to try all the three classes/planes and shit to see if you want it.

Too bad you don't think the same because you want an unlimited demo on their servers. :lol

The mic issue was patched in BFBC. 1943 needs a fix

DICE learned their lesson after the Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2 demos had unlimited time 64 player servers in some of the best maps in each respective game :lol

Essentially it was the full game, just with only one map. But since BF has so much replay value, and the maps were good, playing with friends in the demo was basically the same thing.

Though BF1942 and BF2 were huge successes regardless of people cheaping out and just playing the demo, so I guess they might have worked anyway.

Maybe there was something weird going on with my account but I was able to play the PS3 demo past the 30 minute time limit. In fact, I played the demo on 3 separate occasions and I'm sure some of the sessions lasted longer than 30 minutes, although they did kick me out eventually. I did buy the full game because one map isn't enough.

Wow, after playing the IL-2 Sturmovik demo on Simulation mode a few times, flying in BF1943 is even easier than before. I've realized the capabilities of the super aircraft that never stalls, even in a near vertical climb.

If you use the aircraft right you won't die once in a round, its so awesome. And with completely vertical dive bombing, hitting your target is easy with bombs and machine guns alike.

That's the thing though, the first BFBC demo was unlimited play - it even had limited ranking which carried over to the main game in the form of a weapon unlock.

I guess it's because there's no level progression and only 3 maps that they stuck with a time limited demo... and 30 minutes probably isn't enough, especially if you take into account the demo... but oh well.

What's the best way to get squad assists? Those are the only 'specialist' type stamps and postcards I have left. Should I go scout and try to body shot guys at a flag that my squadmates are about to try and capture? Or is there a better approach/setup?

No, I just want more than 30 minutes! Come on, I just got the controls right. I've never, ever, played a BF-game before so this took 30 minutes to get used to. I didn't even get the satisfaction to kill one guy before the timer ran out, how cool is that?

30 minutes is NOT OK.

Dunno if they fixed this or not, but when I changed PSN accounts and re-launched the demo, I got another 30 minutes.

It's free, and your bitching is not going to make it go away, not even when you use the MIGHTY POWAH OF CAPS LOCK :lol

I want an ocean going yacht too, but I'm not going to get one just by whining about it. God you people have such messed up senses of self-entitlement.

I know you aint joking but I cant believe what you are saying. If you were smart you would of went to the tutorial place beforehand to learn how to play then play online for 30mins to try the game out. Thats what I did and those 30 mins are fine. If you need more than that you are just being silly.

Uh, how does that make any sense? I'm trying to see if the game is for me or not and I'm not getting any chance of doing so by only being able to play 30 minutes.

In comparison to your over exaggerated dream, it would be like letting you step into your yacht for five minutes, then all of a sudden you'll get kicked out of it and get a dump on your face.

Yeah, that's how I felt. Do you have any problems with that?

EDIT: God, you people are such hardcore gamers! Apparently 30 minutes is enough to start wooping ass, good work! I'm jealous.

Wow, the length of a videogame's demo apparently pissed you off quite a lot. Why don't you just sue DICE and EA for making the demo so criminally short instead? Just say it caused you intense "emotional and mental trauma" and cite this thread as evidence. :lol

Also its an FPS game. If you dont know how to play those, you should of definitely used the tutorial. Thats like saying I was trying to fly the plane for 30mins and never got to actually play and want more time. WTF BS is that? You decided to waste your time on the damn planes, thats how you chose to test the game, deal with it.

What makes it even more ironic is this dude's tag. He was going crazy over the idea of paying for an hour long FFXIII demo. What a joke :lol

Nice to see my ignore list fill up with people.

Oh and the Battlefield defense force seems strong in this place, I'm bailing. I was barely here for 30 minutes.
