The beginning of John Wick destroyed me (spoilers).

I wasn't prepared gaf. I mean, I had of a feeling something would happen to the dog but, jesus, I never expected it to be like that.

The poor puppy was dying and it still wanted to be close to John (which is realistically what a dog would do). To be honest, I generally stay level headed through movies but, the reaction after seeing the trail of blood were the puppy draged its broken body to be close to him was startling.

Like sadness and anger rolled into one. Hell of a good movie though.

My wife and I are dog owners and we treat our pups as family members, so maybe that's why that scene effected me so much.

Are their any other times the death of an animal has effected toy in movies?

I didn't care about the dog, I was shocked, but not emotionally tugged by that (and I am a dog owner). Watching his wife die wrecked me at the beginning.

yeah, the beginning of John Wick is heartbreaking. I just think "what if that was my cat?" :(

Too bad the rest of the movie is so mediocre

One dead puppy = dozens upon dozens of headshots.

Like rolling thunder. Phenomenal action choreography.

Felt good.

oh fuck man, you killed my dog, might as well murder EVERYBODY.

what a fucking narcissist John Wick was.

I think it was supposed to be a "straw that broke the camel's back" sort of thing. Esspecially since it was from his wife.

hate this shit, it destroys me as well. In John Wick's case, the overall mediocrity made me forget about it right away

Honestly Alien would have been RUINED for me if Ripley didn't go back for her orange cat Jones. The fact that she
managed to rescue him
with that monstrous creature roaming around.

The bravery. The courage.

Yeah, I can't deal with the deaths dogs in movies or tv.

Even if the dog doesn't die and is just sad like in that one scene in Air Bud devastates me.

To be fair, they did break into his house, kick the shit out of him, kill the dog his dead wife gave him and then stole his car. To add onto that they send a hit squad after him. Then he racked up the body count.

I feel like I watched a different version than GAF. I saw it in theatres too.

Found it to be incredibly mediocre, with wretched writing equalled only by Keanu's acting. The dog scene was such a cheap, ineffective tug at the heartstrings.

I like Keanu and I want him to be successful just like the rest of the internet seemingly does, but this was a z-tier movie, friends.

Spoilers for the end of a British animated movie (can't really say what one without giving it away)
The Plague Dogs
I don't feel no pain no more...

I thought the action scenes were well done but the Keanu character was basically an absolute fucking monster.

This hit me pretty hard, too. I still think about that death scene sometimes. :(

What made this even worse was finding out that three dogs died during the making of the movie. They didn't take care of them properly.

I think that was the point. He got out for his wife but his true nature was only slightly buried. He was a monster and acknowledges it in the movie.

Any scene from a movie or game that has an animal getting hurt in any way absolutely kills me. I almost stopped watching John Wick because of it...but I fucking knew Keanu wasn't going to let that shit stand. I'm glad I stuck around. Especially for that last scene <3

I like how midway through the movie they reveal that John was always gonna turn out this way even if Theon didnt mess with him, he always had that bloodlust on him and his wife was the only thing that controlled him. He had an excuse to get back to the game and he took it, the dog meant little to him, which is why it was simply replaced.

Like others have said, I Am Legend. I have mixed feelings towards it because it deviated so far from the book, but it's still a good movie and that scene broke me. My oldest dog's name is Sam too, but he's a boy.

Marley and Me hit me pretty hard because all of my dogs are pretty old and they're getting close to that point :( They're also all disobedient because I sucked at training them when I was a kid but I love them anyway.

And of course, Hachi. Futurama did a tribute episode to Hachi with an equally heart wrenching episode in Jurassic Bark.

WTF? That's fucked up. Now I hate this movie.

It's fake. There would've been a shitstorm by animal rights activists and Keanu doesn't seem the type that would've supported a film that did that or let that happen.

ending spoilers

I love to think that the ending makes the whole movie about the dog.

"They killed his dog, so he slaughtered them and adopted another dog"

The intro wrecked me. A well done scene can easily get me emotional. Felt so bad for John Wick after his wife and dog died but he went on to absolutely wreck shit.
