The best love stories in gaming

maxresdefault.jpg

Cute, constantly bickering old couple: the game. There's a kind of classic Hollywood screwball comedy vibe to those two (think Cary Grant + Katharine Hepburn) and it's absolutely wonderful.

Dagger and Zidane from FFIX. It feels like a truly sincere relationship and they had so many romantic moments that didn't feel shoehorned into the story.

Tidus and Yuna for example were cute too but it felt much more shallow. Squall and Rinoa were sort of funny but I loved the scenes they had in space.

Zidane and Garnet are okay but they aren't even the best couple in their own game let alone the entire series.

Tidus/Yuna is probably my favorite coupling, if only for the ending.

Zidane/Garnet also has some good moments and is probably handled better overall.

Is Minerva's Den (Bioshock 2 DLC) already mentioned? That's a great love story.

And when I say DLC I also want to mention The Last of Us' Left Behind.

Master Chief & Cortana

Maybe not a classic love story but it's...something :D

I'd say either Geralt & Yennefer (The Witcher) or Nathan & Elena(Uncharted 4).

You mean the game where Nate lies to his wife to go around mudering people for treasure, then almost gets her killed after she travels half way around the world to find out what happened to her lying husband

IMO (& I keep thinking about it), I think that there should be some kind romance in which two close friends (or two strangers) who happen to be half-humans & half-demons fall in love with each other (a boy who's mother is all human & his father is all demon, while the girl's father is all human & her mother is all demon).

It can be from a JRPG or a Action/Adventure game similar to the Devil May Cry series.

Couldn't agree more. Re-playing Witcher 3 now and just arrived to Skellige. Their chemistry is so spot on.

I really liked Shulk and Fiora in Xenoblade

Kafei and Anju was always a favorite too

I also have a soft spot for two Link and Zelda, especifically:

Spirit Tracks: You get to see this bratty princess posses armors and stand up to enemies with you along your whole journey

Skyward Sword: Zelda doesn't have much screentime, but I always find the beginning and how strong Link reacts to some events to hit me really hard

Yes, going by the faithful route I agree. Both characters are full of problems, but in the end love is really a lot about sacrifice to another. Best couple.

Off the top of my head:

Life is Strange -
Max & Chloe
Witcher series -
Geralt & Yennefer
KOTOR -
Revan & Bastila
Uncharted series -
Nate & Elena

All of these were pretty great.

She's just happy it's not another woman, she's the wife of a retired pirate, she understands, she a real one.

Now put some respect on the name of their love.

From the most emotionally wrecking game I've ever played.

Just like any love moments between the immortals and mortals in the game, be it Kaim and his kids or above Ming and Jansen.

Great game.

I really believe Prince of Persia: Sand of Time is absolutely an amazing story of romance, wits and charm all coming together where both the protagonists grow together. The ending also emphasizes on how well it was done, because when you finished the game... well emotions went from wtf - oh dear god...

POP 2008 was good too, but it just didn't draw me in unfortunately. Elika did feel like a real person, but the Prince was waaaayy too happy go lucky through the whole thing.

Lol best fail though: Ashley - Leon | Resident Evil 4... that rejection at the end was way too good.
