The best "Reveal" in a game

This is an oldie, but : Karateka on the Apple II. I was about 7 I guess when I played this game and the first time I got to the end (which was really an unbelievable thing for me to achieve back then in my mind), I got killed by the princess I had to save. It seems you had to run towards her and not walk like I did, because then she would see you as 1 of the guards and kick your ass. That was an "holy crap" moment for me. I don't think there are many games where you can get wacked by the 1 you have to save.

lol i remember that! XD

A lot of good ones that I agree with.

I have to say the ending of Halo 2. I know it's not exactly what's being looked for, but even though you know it's coming, you're so into the game...the way it ends...it's unbelievable.

Good stuff, but no one has mentioned this one (because you all suck, probably):

Red Alert, when you beat the Soviet Campaign, the ending reveals a very familiar character as the mastermind of a WHOLE LOTTA SHIT.
You beat the game, and you're in now-Soviet-controlled London, talking to the head Soviet leader guy. You're offered tea (when in Rome...) and a man and a woman serve both of you. The head Soviet guy is poisoned (I beleive, it's been ages) and the lady who served you informs you that he was a turd, and they're taking power and such. Bitch gets shot in the back by the man, who proceeds to inform you that you are to keep the peace until the Brotherhood of NOD is ready to kick ass in the 90s (I think it was 90s) and etc. Motherfucking guy is SO familiar. You see him when he's serving tea and shit, and when the bitch is talking. But it's been fucking AGES since you played Tiberian Dawn, so you don't realize until the end, when he's talking, that it's mother-fucking KANE, who orchestrated the whole fucking the war in Red Alert as preparation for his future war DECADES later. Then you notice that the fucker is the same fucking age as he was in Tiberian Dawn.

Too bad Red Alert 2 went with a totally different story line and Tiberian Sun's story was laaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. (Gameplay was good, however). And of course, Generals represents EA's final fuck-over of Command & Conquer.

Oh, and another cool one - install Red Alert with the Soviet Disc and you get a different intro movie.

PS, if anyone likes C&C (or hasn't played it) EA is doing ONE good thing.
They're releasing a 10-year anniversary pack thingy of EVERY C&C game and expansion ever released (except for C&C 64, of course, which was an abortion of a port).

I saw and I'm buying. EA releasing anthologies of games made by companies they absorbed is fantastic: See Halflife Anthology.

The final secret of mizar
(spoiler-->
it's a robot controlled by one of those tribals --->I think it was the brother of the tribal leader.
)
This was a real "wtf" moment! Of course you had to complete the game 100%
Fuckin' amazing game. Fuckin' Rare, bring this franchise back. Update the old one Conker style, or a sequel please!!

what happened in strangers wrath?

Half way through the game you get captured, they hang you up, strip all your gear off and when they pull off your boots it turns out you are one of the four legged creatures everyone (including you!) are hunting! you spend the rest of the game running around on four legs!

Never played the game, but that sounds awesome. :lol

Having both Shadow and Spirit die in Wing Commander 2 were WTF moments. I was thinking, why are they killing off the chicks? Why not kill that asshole Jazz? Heh, little did I know...

And fighting Spider-Man (or his lookalike anyway) in Revenge of Shinobi was pretty damn cool, heh.

But for me, no reveal comes close to this one...

I knew Lan Di appeared briefly in the game, and I probably even knew how and when he'd appear, but seeing it happen after experiencing 40 floors of tension and intensity with that gorgeous looking sunset made for the single most memorable gaming scene I've ever come across. The music that played after defeating Don Niu, with Ryo and Lan Di glaring at each other before the chopper pulls away made that entire moment complete. Just an extremely well done scene.

Don't forget that the last boss is from the same specie too, great game btw

I'd have to say Kotor 1 and 2.

The fact that Kreia says the real sith lie in wait, made me think, then I thought of the many possibilites and said Holy shit.

FFVIII and the orphanage scene, if only because it further drove home just how stupid that game truly was. :( Worst plot twist ever, at least until Star Ocean 3 later on.

I bought SO3 some months after released, played about ~15 hours, and stopped dead

So then my friend, who was a big SO2 fan, wanted to borrow it from me

He made it about ~20 hours in, and stopped dead

Everything I hear about it indicates we merely dodged a bullet, rather than missed something special

Game was so much less fun than SO2, and the music, blech. It even lacked the epic horrible voice acting of SO2, stuff so bad, it was good (that's about 50 points). SO3 was just bad in a 'that's not good, boooooooooring' sort of way, and I've heard we missed out on the truly wretched VA later in the game

Yuck.

Reveals:
1. KotOR
2. Arbiter
3. NG and NG2 - Masked Devil and Jaquio respectively
5. Breakdown - Solus, the "twist"
6. WC3 (not Warcraft) - animatronic Kilrathi!??! Mark Hamil?!??!

Anti-Reveals:
1. Raiden - Snake's removal
2. Ultima V - LB's removal
3. WC3 - Angel bites it in the first 5 minutes??!?!

Jet Force Gemini!
The final secret of mizar

I remember this game. I could never beat Mizar though; I would always lose to that shitty camera job while fighting him :/
