The Bionic Commando Rearmed Official Thread of SUPPPAHHHH JOE!

Looking at the leaderboards on both the 360 and PS3 versions, it seems this game has sold like shit :/

I love the music on this remake but I'm so close to whacking the C64 soundtrack on a CD, ripping it on to my 360 and using it as a custom soundtrack. The C64 music was wicked.

EDIT: Actually though kinda wish I'd bought the PS3 version as the D-Pad is affecting my enjoyment of the 360 version. However, I'll be getting one of those new 360 pads as soon as they're out.

Thanks a lot, i'll check the things i miss later and write them down.
By the way, what's the "H4x0rz" achievement?
Something about stealth missions... [could be wrong]? where are those?

I think it's just hacking all the comm rooms in hard or super hard mode.

I'm missing the last two, 11 and 12..maybe they unlock by beating Hard and Super Hard? All the other database things are complete.

The last two are special items that unlock additional things in the new Bionic Commando game.
Here's where you get them:

- Area 00 after collecting all 12 Yashichis
- In the last area of the Albatross before the outdoor boss area, there is one last electricity switch on the top floor that is horizontal. After you pull it, backtrack to the door in the same area and go to the end of the corridor left to it. There it is.

By the way, what's the "H4x0rz" achievement?

It's about beating the hacking (obviously :lol ) minigames on hard or super hard.

Ah, i see, the translation fucked up the description of that.
... Wait, SUPER HARD?!

So you need to make a new game in order to get that...

I just beat that WW1 general looking boss with one hit (granada!), and I didn't really bother with his men either. easiest boss ever I say.

I don't know if it's the same on what you're playing, but I started a new game on the PC version and it said it was going to delete my old data. I kept my medals, yashichis, challenge room stats, database entries, and challenge room secrets that I found. I lost all my weapon upgrades and weapons, so it's a new game but it keeps that stuff, which was cool. No idea if that's what your version does or not, though.

Yeah, that's all it is for the haxor one:

Here's the things i miss from the Database:

Database 12 [just after the BC weapon for the new game]
Database -> Enemies -> 11 AND 22

:(

If they're in the same order, then:

11-Propeller Droid (those flying things that shoot lasers straight down in Area 5
22-Quicksand (at start of Area 3)

He is generally pretty simple, but on higher difficulties you can't ignore the soldiers and they can shoot at angles and they are significantly more aggressive.

12 is whatever item you don't have from my post above.

Enemy 11 is the Propeller Droid, those red flying things on area 05 that have vertical laser beams. Seems you didn't kill those yet.
22 is Quicksand in my version.. I don't know how you can miss that, but maybe you have to die in it once, I don't know how I got it. :)

Thanks everyone, i won't get that Achievement for a while because of that voice that requires all of the Yashichis, but... oh well.

Yeah i finished the game without getting that, and the reason is simple: i did the game on "Easy", so you can actually walk above those quicksands without getting the description.

The leaderboards aren't entirely accurate, since (at least for the 360 version) they leave out Japan and Germany. If you look at the mygamercard.net numbers, it looks to be selling on par with GW2 (ie. very good). And the 360 version alone should already be within their (*) first week goal of 70k-100k (on all SKUs).

(*) They, as in the the people on the Bionic Commando Podcast.

Oh. :lol
I like how a lot of the mechanics of the game change from Easy to Normal to Hard, and not just your damage output and health bar. Grin really put some thought into this.

Sonuvabitch! I tried to do a challenge room a few times then quit in frustration. When I quit, BCR hung on the "writing to hdd" screen. The PS3 eventually rebooted on its own but now I have a file called "Corrupted Data" in my saves and all my BCR data has been wiped out. Unbelievable!

Same thing happened to me just now. Fuck it, all that work gone.

***Propeller Droid***

Description - A slow-moving robotic helicopter that attacks by sweeping across
the air space above you with a powerful plasma rod. This attack is easily
avoided by simply crouching, although that will pin you down in one position
and make you a sitting duck for other nearby enemies.

Acquired - Upon defeating a propeller droid. (First located in Area 05) NOTE:
I'M TOLD THIS ENEMY DOES NOT APPEAR ON "EASY" DIFFICULTY (and you're a pansy
if you came here looking to find this out :P)

:lol

Looks like i'm a pansy AND i'm fucked, i need to start a new game just for that enemy.

What's censored/changed on those 2 versions?

edit.

Here's the Achievements i still have to unlock:

Guess i can do "One Dozen Yashichis", "A Real Challenge" and "Intel Collector", but the other two... no way.

Weird, the description doesn't mention that you can hit the Propeller Droid with your bionic arm to lower their altitude so they're easy to hit/avoid.

WHA!?! Geez, I never even tried that! Good to know as they respawn pretty quickly in Super-Hard and are by far the most annoying enemy in the game. I am assuming you need the claw upgrade for that.

Also, on a side note, how do you get your avatar to change every time I refresh a page?

I don't think you need the upgrade. You just bonk them with the arm and it brings them down a bit, worked on NES, too. You don't grab them or anything.

Some script file randomly chooses a picture in the folder.

If you're able to complete all the challenge rooms Wizpig, say how you did the last regular set; I can only do 2.

I take back everything I said about how badly the Dpad suxors for 360.

I tried the demo for Pac Man C.E. and I would have DL'd it if the 360 had a better d pad.

For stuff like BC, the 360 d pad is fine; for precision gaming like fighters and Pac Man, a much better d pad is needed.

damn, after all this years I finally ended losing my skills at gaming.

This game is too difficult for me/my reflexes :_(

The
hidden paths
and the last stage are kicking my ass on easy.

But mastering the swinging mechanic is like riding a bike - I've still got it. :D

I pretty much BREEZED through Hard Mode. I can't even blink in Super Hard Mode. Holy crap. I might be able cope a little bit once I get the grenades or rocket launcher but it's still going to be hell. You can take one or two hits and the enemy solider fire steady streams of bullets. It's ridiculous.

Alright, I must be missing something about the last boss here, and I'm calling on GAF for some help. I can almost perfect the entire last level up to him (I take 2-3 hits and lose the helmet, body armor, and shin guards), but Hitler keeps f-ing killing me. I'm playing on Hard, and my problem is thus:
Right when the fight starts, he launches a volley of missiles at you. Now, I'm fine with the ones that come diagonal at you (from left and right) and with the one that comes from straight above. The missiles that come from the sides on the other hand can burn in hell. How are you supposed to differentiate between a mid-level missile and a low missile? Currently it seems more like random fucking chance, and because the arm isn't fast enough, when you guess one way you commit to it. Guess wrong and your f-ing dead.

My strategy thus far has been to stay crouched (holding diagonal down and towards the missile) and when I have a guess if it's high or low, either shoot or let go of down and shoot to hit it. Am I missing something? Can you shoot his missiles down, or is this just another reflex test like that SOB the Fabricator?

Sorry for the wall of black, didn't know what was "spoiler" material.

But seriously, I have loved this game up until this point. It reminds me of everything great about the NES game (including the Furnace, which is still my favorite level). I've gone through the last level so many times only to be constantly 3-shot by the boss (well, sometimes more, but it always feels like 3). I haven't been this pissed at a game since Battletoads. Seriously, Battletoads. (Those gas vents in the last level reminded me of it)

Are the leaderboards for the Challenge Rooms only? Cause I haven't touched the Challenge Rooms yet, and I'm sure I'm not the only buyer of the game in that situation.

I hope they unearth and sell that C64 soundtrack, I'd love to get my hands on it. The "Meet With Enemy and Descend" stage music is one of my favorites.

That's exactly what I did on Hard Mode. You just need to be really, really, really quick once you see the high/low. After the first missile phase, just pray that you're dealt his much easier to dodge laser attack once or twice.

Damn, I'm surprised at how much more difficult this is on hard mode (though it seems that the challenge will decrease as you gain more abilities and weapons). The AI takes much more advantage of the environment. In a way, the shooting almost ends up reminding me of Flashback or Blackthorne on hard.

Jeez, I hate doing this, but I have to ask for another hint for a secret area. It's in area 10, near the boss door. There's a narrow tunnel with low hanging spikes. I can't figure out how to get through. There's a blue barrel that I've tried rolling or throwing down the tunnel, but that didn't work. Any hints?

I'll try and be as vague as possible :
You don't need anything extra from the level to get it. Meaning, you don't need slimes or barells, or any enemies.

if that one dosen't work, try this:
One of your weapons is the key

Actually:
Two of his weapons will work, one is just way slower. ;)

Thanks, I'll try it out.

Also, one more question: Is there a way to see if you've gotten all the secrets in a level without beating the level again to see the stats?

Well, don't they light up when you haven't beat them? Because every level on my map is darkened out.

I'm in the same boat here. I've beaten every area, 11 being the last, then the terrain on the map goes crazy and everything is darkened. No track to get to area 12. Help!

almost finished the game, up to the last couple of levels, the game is not that hard once I got used to the arm controls. Whats the hardest stage on normal?

oh yea, the game is a steal at 10 bucks, great job with the game.

Agreed, agreed.
I lost like 30 lives on Pacman CE just because the fucking Dpad decided to go left instead of down or things like that.

But i still played all BC: Rearmed with the Dpad. [and Soul Calibur 4, but that's just me: it's not precise at all]

level
A
is the hardest, i finished everything else with relative ease, and this one is killing me, and once you die, it takes so long to get back to the boss T_T, nes levels of frustration for me

I just had a chance to play the game today... Took me a little while to get the hang of the game mechanics and controls (never played the original)... But after that, HOLY SHIT! The awesomeness of this game is off the charts, such a polished great oldschool game. I'm smitten and I'm still very early in the game. BCR > MGS4

It's funny that I'm more interested in PSN games already released and in the pipeline than any games on bluray.

I kind of recall that you maybe need the Permit item or something? Or Super Joe's codes to get to area 12? Can't remember.

Well, I managed to get through Areas 01 through 09 on Super Hard last night. It's absolutely insane yet entirely manageable for the most part. I'm still pretty much worried that the last boss is going to drive me mad but I've made it this far I might as well power through the rest of it.

worked through a few levels on hard last night. Made it through Level 1 and 5 with not too many problems. It may not be worth the frustration. The barrell stage is signicantly harder...and the corridor in Act 4 is brutal..as is the boss fight that follows. The soilders shoot diagnol, so there is no "safe" place. May try again in a little bit..but at this point I may just give up the hunt for the Hack achievement.

Saw videos of this game just recently and was impressed, just finished the demo and I'm hooked. Two quick questions though for those of you who have the game:

1. How long does it take to finish the game?
2. What is the special PS3 feature that I see mentioned everywhere?
