The Bionic Commando Rearmed Official Thread of SUPPPAHHHH JOE!

Boooo!!!

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/05/14/bionic-commando-rearmed-reduced/#more-10273

OK. Enough of the used-car salesman pitching. Now for the bad news…
It was initially our goal to retro-program in trophies for BCR while we were working on them in the 3D version. Unfortunately, the clock ran out and we had to put all our resources on completing the 3D game. I know this comes as a disappointment to a lot of people and trust me, it’s incredibly disappointing to me as well, but rather than giving you a PR-coated response, I’d rather give it to you straight. It was a tough call but with limited resources and time, we had to cut this from the main production schedule in order to make the 3D game the best it could be. Again, personal apologies for not being able to come through with this one.

That sucks. Hey, with the game now finished, don't they have their schedule opened up? It seems like NOW there'd be plenty of time to throw together some trophies. Just because they weren't done in time for the new game, doesn't mean they can't be done at all, ever, does it?

huh? way i read it, is that he is saying there will be no retroactive support, but there will still be trophies for the psn game. this needs clarifying!

First no PS3 BC demo, now cancellation of a promised feature. Why do they neglect the PS3 so? :( At this point I guess I should be happy we get the game at all...

The team is probably already scheduled to work on another project.

Why am I at work? I've been waiting for that patch...

Patch has been out for two days, dude.

But only if you're in the US.

Well, why don't I pay more attention to the weekly PSN update thread?

I'll admit, I was distracted by Wipeout & Shatter.

Is the patch out in Europe? Cause I've started my game 3 times to no avail. I thought Eu was supposed to get the patch first?

man... easy mide is a joke. i decided to do a quick trophy run but damn.. after playing it on the pre-patch setting and then easy... easy makes flying through the game like nothing possible.

Just wanted to say that i am having the worst time possible trying to get the 'cat burglar' trophy......get to the boss on level 5 under 1 min, 30 sec.....

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its fun playing this again though....i beat it before prior to this patch, and it does make the game loads easier.

Remember that swinging is faster than running, you can skip the first communication room entirely, and you don't have to do the hacking minigame. (Just contact the base and quickly cancel the conversation and get out of the room.) It's also easier to do on Easy mode with fewer enemies and more safety platforms, obviously. :P

Great tips thanks!! I finally got it a little while ago while in my 'normal' playthrough. Just kept trying over and over and i eventually got it. Not sure why that was so hard for me....:lol

So I have a question.

I love this game, and am ready to start it over again for my Trophy Run. However, I'm wary of the tweaks to the game that have given infinite lives and so on. Is it possible for me to delete the Update data and refuse all future prompts, and play it now and still get the Trophies or am I doomed to the handholding of infinite lives and not-bouncing off walls?

Well, the only change to Hard and Super Hard is that the machine gun upgrade actually does something now.

I doubt the version that's in the PSN store has been replaced with the patched version. Someone with a faster internet connection than me could check. :P

Well I don't mean deleting it and re-downloading from the store. The update data's kept separate from the main game in a different folder. You guys reckon I could just delete that and move on forward and still get the Trophies?

Trophies are not retroactive. Just download the update, delete your old save and play Hard/Super Hard. You'll be dying twice as fast, and you will still get bounced off walls and die.

No. Patch is NEEDED for the unlock data. Removing it = no patched information to give your XMB/profile the unlock "OK."

Enjoy crying into your pillow because the patch made the game more accessible to people (and cut out area B which was bullshit) now. :lol

Though, you can theoritcally delete the patch and finish the game (without trophy unlocks) if you want.

I'm not hung up over it, since I beat it already pre-patch, but I don't think I'm up to snuff for the Hard difficulties. Guess I'll just go and play on Hard for the heck of it then.

Hard was too insane for me (mostly becaused I died hella fast, and I can't really get into the "swing" of things with the swing mechanics). So I'm glad the patch has made normal "easy-mode" now, because at least I can play the game at a "die a thousand times" level, while not being frustrated by it. :lol

But like, you could unlock the trophies and then delete the game (or game data or whatever) and keep the pre-patched version without losing the trophies, right? Once you have them, they're there forever, right? :P

Yes. Once the trophies are unlocked you keep them on your PSN profile (once you sync) come hell or highwater.

But you lose your gamesave if you patch (IIRC, it wants a fresh save), so it's pretty pointless unless you backup your save anyway.

Wait, they removed Area B from the Albatross!! That's right, oh God that blows. Guess we won't know if this is for all difficulties until we play through.

IIRC it's only for Normal/Easy. Hard/Super Hard still has Area B.

I'm so torn. I really want those trophies but I really don't want to have to do some of that shit again. Guess I'd better just take off the panties and pick up the DualShock. :D

I just got 100% trophies. :) Took me 8-10 hours.

The swinging in this game is like riding a bike. Once you learn it, you'll never forget it. The only challenge rooms that REALLY suck are 51 and 56, the others are easy once you know the drill. Super Hard is still the best mode since it makes every level a challenge room.

I love this game.

What exactly was included in "Area B"? I can't recall specifically what that was.

Crazy flipping platforms.

Which BTW aren't that hard. At first they seem impossible, but the pattern is actually very simple.

I whined too, and then a man yelled at me and told me I was weaksauce, and he was right.

Any word on when the 360 patch is coming out? Last I heard it was getting re-certified by the xbox team. Now with GRIN gone is it still even coming out?

I've just downloaded and, it took a little longer than most patches do but I've found out why: it has a local co-op campaign support now, with instant drop-in! Man, time to play through it again.

Wasn't that always there?

Then forgive what a fool I am - I have not seen it. I don't know how can I be so blind, but on the bright side: it cheered me up yesterday.

Can it be said enough how much of a better game this was than the full retail Bionic Commando?

Grin, this was awesome. Then you got cocky.
