"The credit card information is not valid..." PS4

My CC is no longer working on PS4. It still works fine on Steam, and for everyday use. This seems to be a pretty big issue for a lot of people, and I was wondering if anyone has gone through this, and knows of a fix.

EDIT I've also tried adding PayPal and I get the same error.

Went through this a year ago.

Tried using it again earlier this week....and it works again.

Basically, your CC works when Sony deems it worthy.

I've been getting this error recently as well. You can still add your credit card information on the PlayStation website though which is what I did

I remember having a problem because my address contained a /

I replaced the / with a space and everything worked. Sony may have already fixed that, and it might not have anything to do with your problem, but I thought it worth mentioning.

Oh, thought that sony just hated my card. It's just as well, I think I'm probably safer just buying playstation store cards off of Amazon anyway.

Had to chat with support about this today. They had no fix, they suggested I buy PSN credit on Amazon or just wait a couple days to see if it works then. Pretty dumb.

It sucks because I use Vue to watch TV, and now after every month I'm going to have to buy a damn code on amazon and add funds to my wallet. This shit is insane and seems to be a rather large issue for a lot of people.

Same problem here. A card that worked fine on PSN for years just stopped working, now Sony won't accept it or my PayPal account (both of which work propely elsewhere).

Sony is really bad at PSN. Use PSN cards instead.

So I'm not alone.
My card is working fine with my NA account, but when I try to link it to my HK account, nope, and it worked just fine before. Buying HK PSN cards is not that easy either. Sony pls.

(And yeah I don't live in HK so my HK address is gibberish)

This happened to me several years ago and has never worked again since then despite me putting in my info correctly many times. Thankfully Paypal works for me just fine now.

The fix I was given by support was to delete the payment details, wait 24 hours and then try again.

They've flagged your card for some reason and that apparently resets it.

I tried this a few times but it didn't work.

I love that Sony themselves don't even know what the problem is.

Mine works most of the time, but has had periods where it stopped for two weeks at a time.

I complained and got $10 added to my account though, so whatever.

The lady I talked to when I last had a problem claimed that there was a "high volume of traffic to the store," and that somehow they couldn't process my payment? Sounded like a crock of shite, because either she was full of it, or Sony's servers really are as bad as they seem.

Yeah, crazy alright.

I got the impression that it's a 3rd party company that they use that flags the cards. I was having angry words with my bank before I figured out the problem was at Sony's end.

I just took mine off there as sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, and I never changed anything in terms of the address formatting. It was random chance.

Just use Paypal now, and physical cards whenever stores have them discounted.

Not sure if this will help, but the store is hella picky about your address. Any incorrect capitalization or "Avenue" instead of "Ave" always gets my card declined.

Very strange... Mine used to work up until a couple of days ago. Now PayPal won't even work. If enough people are having the same issue these days, it could be a recent bug on their end. In the meantime, I got some PSN cards off of Amazon, but its a pretty annoying situation since you have to purchase predetermined amounts... I just need $6, not $10!

Welcome to the crap club. Had same problem, couldn't even add PayPal. Went with PSN cards from Amazon, go digital it'll give you the code after purchase. Then randomly PayPal started working

I've had this issue for a bit now. I remedied it with cards off Amazon but lately I just don't buy anything. I wa looking at buying the Kombat Pack 2 tonight and just didn't want to bother going to Amazon to get a card. So, they've lost out on money from me. When FFXV comes out, I'll have to bother, though.

I had this issue awhile ago and had to put my address and info all in caps, as that's how my bank records the info, for some reason. Fixed it. Might be worth a try to make sure your info is entered identically to how it's entered on your online banking.

This happened to me.

I decided it was a blessing in disguise, especially when Amazon instantly delivers codes, and just kept it off.

Sony's loss.

Try play Asia. They have Hong Kong cards that seems pretty cheap to me. They send them through email so it's quick too.

Had this happen once earlier this year. Either my cc expired, or put in wrong password, can't remember. Regardless, I believe it was 3 straight failed purchases that ended up flagging my account. Afterward it didn't matter if I tried changing payment methods to PayPal, a new card, etc, would still get an error that lead me to believe something was wrong with the cc info. I had to call them and they explained the fraud protection to me. Anyone having issues similar to mine may need to contact support to resolve the issue.

I have the same problem, still doesn't work. I know it has to do with my adress, but I can't seem to fix it. I just buy codes of the internet now instead.

They're doing you a favor, use prepaid cards from Amazon, have you not seen all the threads about hacked PSN accounts?

better to use psn codes anyways
Better if you are worried about your account (or PSN) being compromised, but unless you get them on sale it really shouldn't be considered better.

It takes longer, sometimes much longer if you can't get it from a digital distribution seller, and you will often end up with money left over in your wallet.

It really is amazing that PSN works at all most days. My card stopped working recently too but only on the website. It works fine from the console even though it's the same saved card and address. I'd talk to support too if I had any confidence they could fix it.
I don't.

Sony's way of handling credit cards is stupidly obtuse, it seems it checks for your account country, spaces in the address, multiple address lines, country of card, country of the IP where you are connecting from, what day of the week it is... and even if you get everything right, you might not get the service to accept it, throwing the extremely helpful and detailed "credit card data is invalid". Which part? no one knows

I gave up a long time ago, I just buy codes through amazon, get them in 15 seconds and punch them in.

On one of my recent purchases, the password on paypal didn't work for whatever reason multiple times. Had a really bad moment because it seemed my paypal account was compromised, but trying to access it from another tab on the browser worked fine. When I went back to try it again the multiple failures must have flagged my account because now the store don't even try to link me to paypal and give me some obscure error message.
Since there have always been so many hacking reports, I've been used to add paypal authorization and remove it right after every purchase. I don't know if I locked myself out of the paying options by doing this.
