The Crew Wild Run |OT| Never Drive Alone

Seriously considering picking this up in the Humble Bundle.
How many races are available, and are they all available in single-player?

Quite a lot. Maybe like 10+ for each region? (I'm only talking about story missions) You can play all of them solo if you want to.

There's also stuff like PvE events (which can also be played solo) and you can repeat the story missions to get a better grade (and better parts ;)).

There is no 'single player' as the game is always online.

If you mean do you have to bother with PvP content, then no, you don't, there is lot of content you can tackle on your own, even some of the summit events.

I was really surprised by how good this is. I downloaded the demo after seeing it on sale and bought it right after playing the demo. It's really fun, the driving feels great. Performance is a little eh, but otherwise I'm digging this a lot.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I know about the always online, that's fine with me.
More specifically, are there races/events that are exclusive to PvP?

There are certain exclusive PvP modes, like brawl and blitz, but I can't think of any races that are exclusive that are specifically exclusive to PvP.

You won't really be missing out if you don't want to play any PvP.

Nice, thanks again.
NFS:MW is currently fulfilling my arcade racing fix, but having The Crew be next in line is really tempting, especially with the Humble Bundle...

I didn't see it on the collection board!

I found it in the New York dealer

really unsure if i buy it or not. but the canadian psn sale is quite the deal. downloading the demo now. Last time i played the crew was the first beta. i did not enjoy the handling but loved the map and just roaming the world. mhhh...

Got my first car to 1299, my beautiful Ferrari. I normally HATE this kind of end-game, but somehow The Crew gets away with it.

It's the map, I love it.

Ooof, a while. I didn't really grind them until the last 50 points or so, which I did last night: just cruised around doing Speed/Escape challenges until I finally got the last few lvl 50 Platinum pieces.

Probably 7-10(?! It's my most driven car, and I've spent 50+ hours in game) hours in total, I guess, but only 1 or so of those hours was a dedicated grind: otherwise it was just getting upgrades through missions, events, PvP etc.

Now I can soup up all my circuit cars for exorbitant amounts of money!

guyses,

im about to unwrap the game since getting it last November. Any tips?

My post below is (fairly) relevant.

Crash through the story as quick as you can, there are a few important things that come with the story.

1) Faction missions

2) The ability to send friends on faction missions

3) Some very useful perks

4) Don't spend the free crew credits you get on anything other than perks.

5) Don't buy any vehicle kits until you are level 40, buying kits less than level 40 is a waste of time.

6) If you can handle it, crash through all the locations, the bucks and XP that comes with them are very worth it.

About how long should I expect it to take me to speed through the story? I want to knock it out, but I greatly prefer just racing around the open world.

If you just concentrated on the story and nothing else, and you are fairly good at racing games, less than 20 hours probably.

Yeah, some of the races later on in the story might require to work on the current car or to buy a new one and fit in lvl40 parts (I did that with an S class car). It also takes time to reach some of the starting areas for story missions since they're usually scattered all around the map. :)

The story isn't a narrow tunnel, either: you'll do a lot of driving and exploring between missions anyway. You can do that from the very start even, which is great.

Is there a decent guide that explains the systems in this game? It doesn't do a great job of explaining things. But exploring the open world is pretty fun. lol

Guys, I rented The Crew today and I installed and downloaded a patch and it runs as The Crew: Wild Run.

Does it think I purchased a Wild Run edition? I'm pretty sure this is an old disc.

No, the logo shown in-game changed to Wild Run when it released. You only have access to the content of the original game.

Is there a difference between the Complete edition on sale on PSN right now and the disk based Wild run in stores?

it looks like the Complete edition includes the season pass or something?

Im having fun.

But lost as fuck

There are too many systems to keep track of and what seems to be numerious currancy systems?

I need a guide of some sort. I cant even ask for clarification because the whole game is typical UBI clusterfuck. I am having a blast even if I dont understand what a single icon represents....

I second this!! Anyone? It's even worse because I did the demo like 12 months ago and now my game is just like 4 missions in and I can't reset it.

Yeah, there are a lot of systems going on, and not much explanation early on, although some are explained as you play through the story (factions being one important end game mechanic), I'd really suggest trying to get through the story as soon as you can, combined with doing the locations and any skill challenges that you encounter en route to your destination.

Car classes are tied to XP level, another reason why you should go through the story as you should pretty much have all classes unlocked by the end of the story.

The game really opens up at end game, so I think getting through the story is no1 priority, until then I'd say ignore PvP and faction missions, that said, the whole map is open, so there is nothing stopping you doing epic road trips, or exploring if you so wish, In the map/pause menu there is a wiki guide that you can also use.

Missions are the driving force in the story, if you are stuck, filter the map to show missions you haven't done yet.

Try these guides, and if you have any more specific issues, post and we can try and explain them.

I'd say ignore anything written about grinding though, because the loot system has changed since many of these guides were written.

I just did the first Wild Run qualifying event and the game said something about getting a free car. Did I mishear something? Where do I go to get it?

Free car is given for competing (and winning Platinum, or getting lucky in the RNG) in the summit at the end of the month, the qualifiers are just that, qualifiers for the summit.

is the main game worth it without the wild run pack?

I'd say so, you get all the visual improvements, the WR pack doesn't add anything I'd deem as a must have, unless you really want Drag, Drift or Monster specs, that said, the Summit is good end game content.

Man I love how much there's still left to do after finishing the main story. I still haven't touched the Wild Run stuff. Right now I'm (slowly) doing skill challenges (precision challenges are probably the toughest ones to get platinum medals, I still haven't got any) and I also completed a few of the 'A to B' PvE events. The Raid vehicle one was very cool (100km in 1hour, I did it in little over 30 minutes :)).

By the way thanks for accepting the friends invites guys. My daily salary is twice as big now. :D

So the best way to get platinum parts now is via story missions, right? And you always get a better part than you own if you manage to pull off a platinum score on such a mission? I've found a nice Performance race in Miami (no effort needed, lasts less than 2 minutes), but I just wanted to make sure. :)

Im about 60% through the story.

Is there a guide on what to do after?

Is it just doing the random challenges and points of interest ?

either that, or the summit events (IMO)

It's about levelling up your cars doing challenges/redoing missions, exploring, doing The Summit for a) parts and b) rewards and c) beating your friends (don't play with Danowat, he's too good), and doing races online for cash and fun of it.

The end game is, if it was in any other type of RPG, a bit limited, but because I love the world so much I really enjoy just playing the game.

I enjoy the end game too, simply because you can do what you want.

The progression curve at end game can be seen as a number of things.

1) Getting all car classes up to 1299

2) Getting all cars and getting them up to 1299 in each class.

3) Getting a high rank in PvP

4) Getting a platinum in each summit qualifier and summit.

5) Beating friends in challenges

6) Filling the "awards"

To facilitate 1 & 2, you can either race PvP, redo missions, do challenges, do faction missions.

There is plenty to do at end game.
