The Cuphead Elitists Episode (Commentocracy)

I love the concept but agree that it's becoming little one note. The character and premise can do much more than say quotes that begin to all sound the same while rubbing his nipples. I'd love to see him end "The video game show what I've done" series and give his sarcastic reviews the du H'ardcore treatment instead. They both hit similar themes, but one has the better character while the other has more variety in content. Combine them and you have a more varied and better show all around.

edit: while it may be kind of one-note, the fact that every episode gets the most sadly expected reactions (worthy of their own episode) makes me truly glad it exists

By reading the comments in this thread I know this video hit too close to some poster's homes.

I don't think the actual quotes have anything to do with most people's negative reaction to these videos. He's stretching what humor this bit once had really thin.

I appreciate that Jim Sterling has made Duke Amiel a recurring character. Commentocracy is something I very much look forward to seeing every week!

What are you even talking about? People just didn't find it funny.

I guess were all elitist assholes for not liking your youtube hero's skit?

I'm sorry, I'm going to need to hear that in the Commentocracy voice to determine whether it's elitist.

He should do an episode about comments where people throw around the word "cringe" in response to lighthearted humor.

This gimmick was played out after the 2nd episode. JelloApocalypse does the reading comments in a funny voice bit way better than Jim.

watched around 1 minute and a half of that, then traced the other episodes to see if they offered anything different..it's basically a single joke, always the same, told dozens of times every video :/

I understand how the character is annoying but he's making fun of people that deserve to be ridiculed. There's been plenty of threads here where people act incredulous to the idea of any easy mode being added to certain games.

Maybe it's because I usually just avoid comments such as these but Jim Sterling reading them like that with this make-up just cracks be up. You can tell he loved doing this, that joy is infectious.

Also, the comments are proper stupid.

Jim could read the comments as himself and it would be about the same. It's low hanging fruit presented in the same way each time.

I love shit like this. I saw someone in a youtube comment section saying "If you use the power shot it means your bad!"

Gave me a good laugh.

nobody is arguing that those people deserve ridicule, but that's material worth for 1 joke, maybe 1 video, not an entire series of videos

also, while those people are definitely exaggerating and are more than a little smug, it's not like the fear that accessibility might lead to dumbed down games down the line is that preposterous..if anything because it has already happened to dozens of historic series.

but that's beside the point..the point is that a series based entirely on narratting stupid youtube comments is already pretty shallow per se, but if you focus always on the same kind of stupidity, basically always telling the same exact joke, it stops being funny even if you thought it was funny when you started watching

it would be different if jim's "acting" was the star of the videos, but it's really not the case.

"If anyone did not find this video very funny like i did, they must be like these posters."

Basically what you said. People are allowed to dislike something you enjoyed, no need for you or others mock them for that.

This Gif was really needed hahaha

Good little 30 - 45 second worthy skit stretched out to 5 minutes and bled dry harder than the peoples comments he's satirising

Folks on GAF using elitism as a bludgeon against others is a fun bit of irony considering this place is thick with living-in-a-bubble video game elitists.

You know how on RPG Codex everybody is an edgy tryhard hipster who, in trying to maintain some ridiculous e-persona, sits around whining about how TEH CASUALS are ruining gaming?

GAF is quickly becoming the inverse. This thread is literally dudes sitting around accusing people of being snobs and elitists because they don't agree on how funny a YouTube video is.
